@jspankin As a teacher, I am demonstrating these kinds of exercises every day, which means that even after 30 years of singing and teaching, I do these frequently. It's good to refresh the neural pathways of brain-muscle connections.
@Rofleren That's a good idea. If we want to develop new, good habits, we have to repeat them constantly so that the brain gets the message, and establishes the new muscular behaviour as the 'default' - that then makes things easier when we come to sing. Ideally we need to think of these muscular patterns throughout the day, and not just when we are singing.
@Estefmg Aim to identify the difference you feel these exercises make to a) the ease with which you can sing, b) the more open sounds and wider pitch range that your voice can make. It's actually difficult for a singer to hear their own voice properly (I'll post a video about this in due course). This means that the only way you can really tell how your voice sounds is by recording yourself and listening back. The singer needs to focus on physical sensation as their main self monitoring process.
