@pr3typ0ny Hehe...there is a trick to it. Think of a sailing ship tacking into the wind...left and right across the track. Going up the track straight, the hills are too steep for the underpowered motor...tacking left and right across the track lowers the actual slope of the road that the car is climbing...
I always hated this games realism, I mean 290mph in a M3 GTR. That car has a top speed of 184-185mph, and even with tuning it would never go this fast. It's only a 400bhp 4.0l V8 after all... but nice driving anyway though.
@ZZrainythunderZZ Its km/h not mph, and the M3 GTR Race version was worked up to 500bhp. I suppose I could take out the stage 4 turbo and put in a Stage 2 or 3 and try to match the 500bhp and see what lap times i get, but frankly, I'd rather wait for GT5
Nice video and good driving, though i do sense a nerviousnous in your driving, you're really weary of the curbs and as a result not nailing some of the apex's. i think you could shave off a fair bit of time with some confidence. Can you explain the difference between simulation and arcade mode? does it explain the inhuman and quite fake looking laps of some of these other youtube vids?

Arcade mode and simulation (GT Mode) are 2 different modes of the game that you can choose to play. Arcade Mode seems to be a bit easier to play as its physics are more forgiving, the cars are at maximum power and there's no car wear over time etc...
these class of race cars are designed for city courses... (corner acceleration to 150 km/h, corner, ......) the higher class (toyota gt-one, ...) are desginged for courses like this. yes some corners but also long distance, straight roads. =^) i prefer the city race cars.

Just awesome. I tried to get through this final qual for top license, but after a hundred tries I gave up. I always wished I could get my money's worth out of the game by being able to race at the top, which I had no problem with in GT3, but that's life.
What i don't get is, why do ou put stronger brakes on the FRONT? If you di it on the back, the front wheels would be able to do their job better STEERING. Surely that should be obvious?
@minibean3456 stronger rear brake bias will only induce more understeer. i have the general idea of why but i think someone else can explain more clearly why we put the brake bias toward the front.
Yeah wcstick, thats pretty much it...plus the fact that having more on the fronts evens up the tyre wear, instead of the rears doing all the work. Tyre wear doesn';t matter on this free run, but in the other race events it does. Thats how I had it set up for the other races.
More brake balance on the front causes more weight shift forward, which keeps the front tyres having better traction, enablng you to brake while cormering.
Offcourse you adjust the braking to the front wheels. first because of the mass moves to the front wheels during brealing and second, it prevents oversteering.. offcourse you need to be careful that you dont put to much breaking to the front wheels because you want to use all 4 wheels not only 2..
forza physics engine has always been more realistic and closer to real life simulation than gran turismo. if you want to play a real car driving sim play forza but if u want to play a game where you can slam into walls and ride them play gt.
Always? Forza series exists for what, 3 years? Gran Turismo exists for 12, so can it! Also, GT couldn't have made damage because they had licensing issues, not because they didn't want to create damage. Also, Polyphony crew drove ALL of the cars they have created, and based on the drive, and research, they created the handling physics. Forza's crew altogether couldn't afford to drive 1/10 of the cars Polyphony drove.

the very first forza game they hired a racer to run laguna seca in real-life, recorded the times, and had him run it in the same car on a virtual track on forza as well as gran turismo. the times recorded on forza was only 4-5 seconds off from the real laptime whereas gt was 20-30 seconds.
furthermore, you can FLIP your car in the new forza. its very difficult but the opportunity is there just like it is in real life. in gt5? nope. your turn

Hey mate, heres a tip from me - at the 10th second of your actual lap - that long, sweeping corner - you don't need to brake - i never do. Literally. :D
Yup, i did it again - i tried no brakes lap with R390 race car - 6:45 first try - 6:25 second try - finally got 6:18, and that was still making some mistakes, so, i reckon, if i brush it up a bit more, probably could get a 6:05, or maybe even under 6:00...also did it with Sauber C9 - got 6:00 dead first try...can probably get it down to 5:42, or close...if i do ill post it...:D

Can anyone tell me why i get no traction in the first few gears on road courses but full traction on track courses like the ring?is it supposed to do that?
Yeah it means your lower gears are transferring so much power to the wheels they break traction as you accelerate...on a dirt track you don't notice it because its a drift style of racing.
You can try decreasing the break traction by putting softer tyres on, or chage your gear ratios so they are longer.
i like that track played on the psp but i hate it too cuz its soo DAMN long try doin 3 laps wit a bmw se how long it takes to get to the end ITS LOONG

Hey mate, heres a tip from me - at the 10th second of your actual lap - that long, sweeping corner - you don't need to brake - i never do. Literally. :D

Yup, i did it again - i tried no brakes lap with R390 race car - 6:45 first try - 6:25 second try - finally got 6:18, and that was still making some mistakes, so, i reckon, if i brush it up a bit more, probably could get a 6:05, or maybe even under 6:00...also did it with Sauber C9 - got 6:00 dead first try...can probably get it down to 5:42, or close...if i do ill post it...:D

I did a lap of the 'ring in a M3 GTR race car with no brakes or handbrake all the way 'round :) Haven't got vid saved anymore, though. Took me about 7 mins. i think...i might do it again and post it... :)

In GT4, engine wear reduces power permanently by up to 5% after around 800 miles on the odometer, regardless of oil changes.

Can anyone tell me why i get no traction in the first few gears on road courses but full traction on track courses like the ring?is it supposed to do that?

Yeah it means your lower gears are transferring so much power to the wheels they break traction as you accelerate...on a dirt track you don't notice it because its a drift style of racing.
You can try decreasing the break traction by putting softer tyres on, or chage your gear ratios so they are longer.

Hope to learn Nurburgring through Gran Turismo PSP. It is a hard track to master. I can't play it now since my PS2 busted up and GT5 aint comin till next year. :/
