Antler Hunting, 1st find for 2012 season

Thats a beauty antler...I'd be pretty happy to find that one...I know they can get bigger, but thats a kule shed...nice find.

I was beginning to wonder about he Deer...thinkin that is not your everyday hunting spot LOL...then you say that it is no hunting and a park...figures..awesome place tho.

Its amazing to me how they are not afraid of you at all and just walking around you like that. How they know that they cant be harmed there is crazy! So many bucks as well usally you see doe's. Very cool video, I wish there was a place by me like that to see them up close and not afraid.

I hardly ever see sheds, except one year I found two complese whitetail buck skeletons with the racks on while mushroom hunting in the early spring. One a four pointer and one a five pointer had an extra point on one side. Abot 40 yards apart both faceing in the same direction when they fell.

@TreasureFiend trust me you dont want to come over to PA anymore I live and hunt in PA and there isnt half as much deer as there was 5 or 6 years ago they released so many doe tags and rifle the last couple years has been 2 weeks of buck or do we are finally starting to switch to first week buck only then second week doe but id still wait a couple years til hopefully the population bounces back up only good thing that has happened is we have antler restrictions now

After finding the antlers do you have to do any thing for preservation? What do you do with them afterwards?

@Bell2trac No, I just bring them home and add them to the pile. People sell them, some flint knap with them, and others make bone handles with them, I just like the way they look so I keep them.

That's a really great video of those wild deer, I enjoyed watching it. Usually it takes a ton of camouflage and a long lens to get images like yours. Here's hoping that you come across some more antlers in your wanderings. With broken pieces of antler and some flint, you could try your hand at flint knapping. Gl & HH :D
