nice to see good aikido self-defence and attacking action in your videos. most people think that aikido is weak. One of my friends was thinking about taking aikido lessons, but refused because there is no kicks. your aikido seems to be very strong and effective in fight. I belive you have made it effective and that is actually one of aikido's principles. I know you've been doing different martial arts and have became well rounded fighter.

I showed my daughter these videos in Kindergarten, and she loved the idea of "Karate" or "Martial Arts". Anyway, she is in second grade, and on the class picnic she was surrounded by two girls and a boy who wanted her and her friends lunch money and snack. My daughters friend handed over her whole back pack, my daughter hit one of the boys with a palm strike to his low lip and chin(that is what it looked like from across the office). The three kids got in trouble for bullying,Kate did not.

Good to hear about your daughter being understood for defending herself and her friends at school. Policy where I live is any person involved in something physical, regardless of defense or not, is subjected to the same punishment as the bully. Sadly this just causes more problems, which I'm sure you can figure out. Good to see your daughter didn't deal with it.

Although the videos "shot" in your Dojo are more professional, I loved the ones in the trailer. It showed that you were a man who valued the spiritual and not material things.

Well thanks but I never shot a video in a trailer. Those were shot in my friends apt. It may have looked small like a trailer because I am tall.

Ah I wish I'd have known you are in Topeka I just moved from Lawrence to Seattle, and studied for years with the ki aikido group in Lawrence. Hi just wondering, im a small guy, only about 5foot9 and 123lbs, with aikido at my size would it be possible to take down bigger guys with the technique?

im commpletely new to all this so i have no clue thx =)

Yes. The founder of Aikido was a very small man. Please look up videos of O'Sensei here and you will see him as a very old and small man and very able to take down as you say bigger people. Peace!

Amazing video. I used to be quite into martial arts and different fighting styles when I was in my early teen years, but have drifted away since whatever I encountered was more centred around gradings and paying large amounts of money to be able to perform... which was disapointing. I'm now quite interested in the form you show in your videos, as I am medium height, but extremely powerful (but you would not think it). Previous instructors credited me as "A small Tank!"
