@Theobrothers The reasons why G.G. doesnt support Ron Paul is the lack of belief that if the states are left to take care of the people then this would fail, I tend to agree with him on a lot of that. He has stated that he supports RP foriegn policies because it stops war but his domestic stance it G.G. main sticking point. He has cited the lack of states to act and treat it's citizens fair and balance, he cites Hurricane Katrina as the main example and the plight of the poor here.

I see the worry, but FEMA isn't state, and it did horrible. I think the point isn't that states couldn't do just as bad as the federal government, but could they honestly do worse?

See the federal government has no competition, no reason to become a better entity, it is was it is and will stay that way. Where as states would be in competition with each other, as they are now, but not just for bragging rights, for real companies and real people.

@Theobrothers You are spot on in your response but I never said FEMA was a state entity, I just pointed to a reference that GG always uses in his arguments against RP. I personally would'nt trust the republican leadership of Georgia to treat each citizen as equal, it has never occurred here and I doubt if it ever will. The idea of issuing 'block grants' to states as RP advocates is good in theory but practical appilcation is the test that most states would fail, what of the poor?

Well, I see RP's idea is that if people don't like it they can move, they can protest. While I understand why people don't see this as a realistic view, and I agree to some extent, it is also true that the US has become a Nanny state. No one approaches their government to fight for their rights anymore and THIS is the crux of his ideas. If you don't like it, group up and fight! People are complacent, they want things to be fair without work, and that, isn't realistic either

@Theobrothers I love a lot of RP ideas as well but I just feel that handing the people off to the same wolves that got them there is not fair in a sense. I look at in this context, a large amount of people in poverty now in America was created by the failings of govt., I want RP to start talking about bailing the people out and saving homes. We have to remember that being poor is not by choice in some cases, lost jobs, bank ripoffs, Madoff, etc. This will work against RP in the long run.
