@diabetishead Thanks- It's an impressive hill in person. I couldn't climb it with my dirt bike and a paddle tire. if I could get my lazy butt out there again I think it could make it with the MMM set up. I was running stock tires too. I think paddles would make a difference too. I hope I never have to climb that gravel hill again though.
I'll be adding some new videos soon. I switched the set up from the V-Twin to the Mamba Monster Max. It was fast before, but now it's crazy fast. The MMM is almost too much for the chassis. I replaced 3 different drive shafts before I had to switch to metal CVD's.
The V-Twin setup can probably be pretty difficult for a beginner, but if you search google or go to the Traxxas forums people should be able to help. If you have a couple VXLs laying around, WHY NOT give it a go??? 30-35 mph on NiMh and 50+ mph on 3S Lipos, not bad in my book!!!! I had an E-Maxx V-Twin which is easier to set up, but still pretty insane. I like the setup personally....plus it looks intimidating and badass!!!!
@gestekoe Ya, you're right. When I built the V-Twin set up it was back when Castle Creations was still having problems with their ESC's frying. The V-Twin had a lot of power, but it was hard to sync. I ended putting a MMM and a single motor on it about a month ago and I love it. It's faster now and it's easier to deal with. It's not as cool looking as the V-Twin though.
You can purchase a Brushless Edition E-Revo now that can handle 6S right out of the box. The V-Twin can be difficult to sync. A new Brushless Edition on the same battery will eat my Revo for lunch. The Monster Mamba Max motor and ESC are the best on the market.
This is one of those hills that you just have to see. The only chance you have at climbing it is to lay on the throttle. The tires I'm running in this video are stock. Better tires would make a difference, but you almost need paddles. You really can't see how tall the hill is until you see me climb up it.
I was at the Hobby Store and saw a guy running a new brushless Revo. He was running the same battery configuration as me with 2 - 3S Lipos. That thing was insane fast. I'm going to sell my E-Revo to get one. If you're interested in buying it send me a message.
yeah lol... you get a better advantege buying the mmm system than just selling the e-revo
E-revo price =430 (with shipping)
ur prolly gonna sell it for less since its used right? so like 349? cool
MMM system =249 i think
Brushless e-revo 649 .......
how much you save? 0...
How much you get ripped off by?
349-649= 300.. usd you just gor ripped off now instead of selling it why dont you buy an mmm? if ur gonna sell it ur gettin ripped of ny 300 usd = the price of and mmm system
I'm not selling my E revo and i've already got the brushless mamba max E Revo. but you're right if you have the regular setup with the titan 550's on it why not just upgrade to a MMM system. I totally agree with that otherwise you're out of 300 bucks.
Sweet video, I just started doing hill climbs with my erevo, but none quite that steep or tall for that matter. I kind of like going up them slowly, but I've noticed my ESC gets hot when I do that.
twin vxl will be much quicker but probally not with nimh, i ran a single in my e revo with a 3s1p a123 battery and it wasnt enough so i had to run 3s2p i think nimh can only delivery around 40 amps i think but the vxl will probally pull 90amps on acceration
It's fairly easy, but you should definitely visit forum postings about it if you haven't seen them. I created a wire adapter that allowed both Lipo's to connect to both ESC's. Doing this causes one ESC to turn on the other. It also enables the batteries to discharge evenly, keeps temps even, etc. The Monster Mamba Max/Motor combos are more capable, but a 6S V-Twin has plenty of power. It will put you at 45-50 mph easily. If I did it again I would go with two Mamba Max combos instead IMO
Thanks for the compliments. The E-Revo is running stock gearing for this hillclimb. Stock gearing seemed to give me the best balance of top speed, grunt, and temps on the ESC and motors. For the first half of the video you really can't see just how big or steep the hill is. Once you see me at the top the perspective changes. I'm 6 ft and 210 and I look tiny at the top. I actually broke the E-Revo in half about a week after this. I landed poorly and broke both Bulkheads and the chasis.
That's actually one of the best hillclimb's that I've seen. The camera angle is really deceiving until it shows the shot with you at the top. Then you can see how tall it really is. The e-revo has to have some sick power with the 6S set up and vtwin brushless because it looks like stock tires. Kudos, although it must have sucked to have to climb that steep gravel hill.
The camera hardly does this hill justice. It's the steepest gravel pit I've seen. I felt like I had just hiked 10 miles when I was done. Running (2)3S 11.1v batteries turns the V-Twin into an animal.
wow tought it was a mini at irst but wow respect
