  • God, artists are completely looney tunes and I LOVE it. This would be such a boring, stupid existence if it were not for those on the edge of sanity. Don't let others control you. Step out and be nuts.

  • 'but all the sound is the language of your heart, nth about technique.

THA IS THE FUTURE OF MUSIC.'

    i salute you tan dun

  • <3!!! Must keep watching youtube symphony +_+!!

  • Its so cool how music, creativity and individualism are mashed together through this crazy medium to make such awe inspiring things happen.

  • I like this guy.

    He's cool, AND he's a great composer.

And the persistance to follow up with a project this big with so many people.

    That's what I call Inspiration.

  • you're just angry and jealous cuz you didn't get in. This freak is a genus!!! look where he got his inspiration, doesn't exactly happen to many composers now adays!

  • rofl, get a life son

  • thats the past of the expression of music... but i hope its the future as well!

  • I love the song, but I sing and usualy find the instrument parts boring... not this time :D

  • I like his thoughts

  • love his thoughtt, idea, everythinggggggg

  • This is so amazing.

  • I love the idea of it. I wish I could have been part of it. This peace has really inspired me to get back into an orchestra.

  • Greatness comes from harmony,

In the Olympics we reached that harmony,

and it was thanks to the greatest nation on the planet

    China, and all its people

  • screw u

  • You have all the wrong understanding...

  • Im talking to KolranFett

  • China is one of the leading polluters, but U.S. is the largest polluter

  • What does that have to do with music?

  • He's talking about what sparked his inspiration to actually bring the piece together and what music means to him.

  • Comment removed

  • The idea is great, but the music itself it is so conservative as any news opening theme on tv.

Why not try it again with different music values, sounds and instruments?

  • sexy

  • He's brilliant. =]

A man after my own heart.

  • this piece is very beautiful. The composer who thought of this is a genius.

  • Wow he is amazing ... Thanks for this, I wish I could have auditioned for this.

  • I'm still a little unconvinced by the piece, but his inspiration and motivation are beautiful.

  • this is so amazingly honest.

  • I knew it was in E :) thats awesome piece of work.... cheers.. yamil")

  • So the internet symphony project was Tan Dun's idea or was he commisioned? Anyone know?

  • I believe it was his idea but don't quote me on it.

  • He's absolutely awesome!

  • He's so passionate. Brilliant.

  • this is awsome, great work, wish i could go to Carnegie Hall

  • conductors are overrated.

  • I like how he finds what he calls "the music of today" in the street, but what he says at the end about pure expression of heart and not technique is pretty hypocritical.. His work is clearly very much based on a traditional framework for tonality, common chord progressions, melodies.. And how were these people supposed to express their own individual feelings? It would be chaos, which it isn't. It's neat and organized, logical and somewhat technical.

  • a shame he doesn't have a mustache xD

    Lol

  • "a shame he doesn't have a mustache xD

    Lol"

    haha

    i can't stop laughing, dude

    yo r funny

  • Using car RIMS and BRAKES is one crazy idea and really cool.

This guy has a music heart. I mean, I know a girl that can tell you what KEY you are TALKING in!!!

That's some heart in addition to her perfect pitch.

So, I give this guy a thumbs up and 100% for a masterpiece.

    Anyone seconds me?

  • I would QFT (Quote for Truth) you.

  • Alright.

  • An illustration of what can be done when people think outside of the box with a joy and curiosity in their hearts. A beautiful work.

  • i dont like how he speaks of beethoven as a proper god or something similar...

  • I love dudes like this

ppl who find beauty and music in the most abstract of places

  • I totally agree with you! +1

  • 旋律是那么熟悉,想起来了就是奥运会颁奖曲:金声玉振

    旋律灵感来自于上海城隍庙。

  • LoOoL mit Autofelgen wie qeil xD

Yeah GO TAN dun...or....so....HAHA very funny xP

  • It is a deep and potentially very profound. Individuality and self expression fueling the universal language of the heart, of the world, of music. It is a very cool thing. Thank You Tan Dun for this very beautiful piece.

  • Yeah! go Tan dun!

  • Wow his name is 譚盾 ^_^

  • Loud farts deserves a symphony too!

  • Wow holy shit, he heard Beethoven in some brake drums. That's awesome how he was able to actually hear something of merit from something so...unrelated. Who knows what goes on in his head. If he hears you cough he just might come up with some masterpiece.

  • You had me rolling on the floor laughing.

  • LMFAO.

  • lol...yeah but not your cough.

  • Don't like it, don't listen to it. You were obviously interested in even coming to this site. Don't complain.

  • you mean postmodern

  • ahahah! how close minded you are!
