This just depends really what you listen and enjoy first. People are going to like this version more if they hear it first. You sit back and fall in love with something and can't stand change, as little as it is. You'll be expecting a certain drum sound or orchestra hit and it doesn't come, it disappoints you. This is VERY professionally re-recorded.

I still don't know what to think of this version. It is definetely cleaner and stripped down from the original ANATO release, which means you can hear the main band much clearer now without those tons of effects - I'm discovering some AMAZING guitar passages here after 10 years from the first release that I never thought they existed - but I still mis that depth and weight and epicness given by those same tons of effects.

To be honest, I like the older version more. Sure, this is another epic craft of an epic band, but this version sounds more like a live version of the song... the older version clearly had more depth, especially in vocals and guitars.

Too much wah on a lot of the lead guitar lines in this version. Also loses a bit of epicness from cutting back on the number of vocal tracks. The overall production is better, though, I think.

@Mindcrime80 I'm with you this song is much better with a lot of the vocal tracks cut, for starters like you said it adds some agression to the song, second you can actually understand most of the lyrics on this version, and third there is no reason whatsoever that a song played by a four member band (five if you choose to count the bassist) needs to sound like it has hundreds of fucking people singing it at once.

I was so excited when I saw they were doing this. I can't begin to say just how much I love this song. Nothing else comes close. And even then, the songs that get closest are other BG songs.

I can't decide yet whether I prefer the original performance or this, but I think I prefer the production on this version. And, two versions of this song to choose between is better than just one. Thank you, Blind Guardian!

Well, usually I really appreciate the guardians stuff. But this time I think that the original song was better: the choirs were more epic and elaborated, and I don't like the Nuclear Blast production (especially the drums sound: too triggered, not natural). In addition they only have re-recorded a few instruments (you can hear in the background a lot of the old tracks). Anyway I fucking love this song and the good, old, amazing bards :)
