Try doing it whit one that has brushed motor. Will sound better çuz you can hear the OTHER half of the waves. Brushed ones do exist,i once did it. A pager motor with a piece of paper works too.
yeah i found this out one day, burning up fans and stuff with a powerful fm/am reciever i had in my room. I hooked it up to a hard drive motor and heard the music coming from the music and was so shocked. I had no idea that would actually play music lmao
fan and speaker, what does a speaker do ? produce sound ? but how when its not connected to anything like a stereo or an ipod ? im not being rude im just making you not look stupid
Corse!! it would do tht is a magnet and a coil simular concept to the electric part of a speaker! works the same way as some electric buzzers/small speakers (with out moving parts ie the cone) i get ya now man!
Yes. On a video a saw about turning a battery-powered electric motor into a speaker, the guy said a 3.5 watt amp was enough. He recommended that it be an old amp that you didn't care about, though.
im confused. A speaker uses magnets to pulsate and displace air creating sound waves but. i dont get it, fans have ballbearings and spin i don't see how it would create noise....half baked to me
the fan is connected to speaker wire which is connected to an amplifier which is connected to my computer. i have music playing from my computer, so the fan acts as a speaker.
yup that happens, cuz from what i've heard, fans use DC while speaker output is AC. so what happens is the gears in the fan try to move against each other, and they start smoking. you just have to make sure not to put the volume up too high.
i know the dif between ac and dc, but yeah idk, that's just the reason some one had told me that the fan started smoking, cuz mine did the same thing. if i have the volume turned up too high, it starts to smoke.
Well I have my computer connected to my receiver via an RCA to 3.5mm cable. I have speaker wire going from the amp to the the fan. I cut the fan's wires and stripped them so that the speaker wire can connect to the stripped ends of the fan's wires. If I want it to be more like a speaker, then I keep the bass down and treble up, while inversely with bass up, treble down, you get more fan motion, and the fan gives me a breeze to the beat of the bass.
IMPOSIBLE!
LOL

so u connect the fan directly to a standard headphone plug
or did u add some diodes n things like that?
kbhasikevin 1 year ago
@kbhasikevin all you do is strip the wires of the fan, connect them to a receiver (amplifier), and then connect that to your source of music.
Mikej1224 1 year ago
@kbhasikevin you dont plug it into the headphone plug you hook it up to the speaker jacks on the back of the amp and you dont need diods

lol yeah some times if it's a crappy fan it'll do that too.
Mikej1224 2 years ago
ya it was a cheap generic fan with bad bearings i wouldnt do this to good fans lol

the one in this video is a pretty good fan, i guess that's why it worked so well. i eventually blew it though.

@Mikej1224 Get yourself a 24v BRUSHED fan and pump the bass a bit. sounds GREAT!!!

fan with have a tiny coil and magnet, just like a speaker has a coil and magnet.
only difference is speaker has a cone, much more powerful magnet and higher wattage coil and suspension.
u could probably make a louder sound with a powerful electric motor like one out a lawnmover or hoover.
however without a cone or suspension it won't be louder than a tiny speaker.

you take a stereo and instead of connecting the speaker wire from the stereo to the fan instead of the stereo to the speaker.(i think)
Glockenator 2 years ago
It is easy, replace fan with speakers. Two wires of fan will go into amplifier

Standart. From old PC processor or from PC energy block(same coolers).

i would have thought the sound is generated through an arc between the coil, check out a tesla speaker. pretty cool.

sound is just vibrations, and the the fan is vibrating to the information going through the speaker wire.

i dont know how it would work but alright lol

get a car amp for a sub and hook it to your fan on the ceilling
paulbreor 3 years ago
lol well you can't plug a car amp into a home outlet, so idk how you'd do that.
Mikej1224 3 years ago
you a train set
with a 12v rail
paulbreor 3 years ago
park you car at the window
or use a train set with a 12v rail into a car amp the gut your walls and find the fans wire.jk
hey anyways last night i watch this then i did it to one of my old little fans and it melted/smoked
paulbreor 3 years ago
yup that happens, cuz from what i've heard, fans use DC while speaker output is AC. so what happens is the gears in the fan try to move against each other, and they start smoking. you just have to make sure not to put the volume up too high.
Mikej1224 3 years ago
alright bro
the fan melted because there is copper coils around magnets that are on a alex that moves when north and south magnets reple
and ac current
is alternating current which was invented for
power lines because it can travel father than dc
but you tv computer sound sys of cell phone charger use a transformer to convert ac to dc
and there are no gears in a fan,
the only fans that use ac current plug directly in the wall.
ulike computer fan
they even say DC on 99.99 of them
paulbreor 3 years ago
i know the dif between ac and dc, but yeah idk, that's just the reason some one had told me that the fan started smoking, cuz mine did the same thing. if i have the volume turned up too high, it starts to smoke.
