  • Suddenly I want to get back in to model railroading!

  • @KatzOhki DCC sound is certainly geeting more folk back into the hobby :-)

  • very nice, what make is the loco?

  • @ilog0008 Bachmann

  • many thanks it was a brand new train

so i did not want to open it up i have sent it

back to the dealer it was the only dcc sound train i had a problim with

    Thanks again

  • @trialprice Good to hear Dealer sorting it out for you. Cheers :-)

  • have you any videos of you doing a cv 8 on a loco as my sound

has stoped only the lights work the train also runs ok its a32-383 weathered class 37 petroleum livery howes esu loksound decoder can you help

  • @trialprice I've not got any video's showing doing Decoder reset on CV8. Check that wires to speaker & decoder not broken. Also try repluging in the decoder, & that all wheels & pickups track etc are clean. if they are all okay. then i think it's CV8, then write (program the value) 8 to CV 8. A reset of the sound files is only possible with the aid

    of the LokProgrammer 53451.

    Kind regards.

  • how do u get to move 1 loco at a time on the same track as others but they dnt move with the same currant if u know what i mean?? like if u hav the same electric currant flowing on the same track with a number of locos but only 1 moves?

  • @kratos32godofwar The layout is under DCC control, so each loco has to have a decoder (chip) fitted. The loco will only move or respond when called up by the controller. The track over the whole layout has constent power all the time, in the rails. Unlike normal DC, where you control the track by how much you turn the control knob. Visit Hornby's website & look at their DCC section, as it gives a brief run down about DCC.

  • that sounds like a tractor

  • @lanesteele240 Hence the nickname given by Uk rail enthusiasts. This loco has since been fitted with a base reflex speaker...big differance!!

  • beastly model :-D

  • @bwarrrrk Even better now it's had a bass reflex speaker added.

  • @ay76 :-O i may need that for my bachmann 47 xD

  • @bwarrrrk Well worth changing over to one. Maybe something the RTR guy's could do as a standard fit??

  • @ay76 hmm maybe. i have actually now heard a sound class 37 in the flesh with the sounds of 20s and 25s near it at my schools model rail fair, and i must say, its sounds brill :D. i would have asked the bloke if he has a bass speaker init. but he was busy driving a 47 that nearly hit another :P

  • @bwarrrrk ooooouh!!!

  • @ay76 there was 2 cm init so its ok i was more interested in the idling sounds of the 37 xD

  • @bwarrrrk Close call.

  • hat is the product code for the loco

does it have sound and lights already fitted

  • @Harryhsw200010 yes, it does. As seen here, is straight out the box. Cheers.

  • who makes class 37 loco and what product code is it for the manufacturer

  • @Harryhsw200010 Bachmann. Visit their website & look at DCC on board sound loco's, for more details of their latest class 37's with sound. The loco comes supplied as fitted at the factory, with a sound decoder/speaker. This particular version is now out of production. Cat number: 32-781DS. So a case of trawling the model shops / mag's / & the web / model shows etc to find one. Cheers.

  • Hi, how do you activate the functions F10 to F12 in Elite?

  • @citaro31 Press function then say 10 & then press the control wheel to confirm. Cheers.

  • what controller do you use

  • @craigcromack Hornby Elite.

  • what type of wood did you use for your layout ? im building my own and ive used mdf before but the trains dont run smoothly ...?

  • On this layout it was sundealer on a soft wood frame. The current layout 6mm exterior plywood. Cheers.

  • thanks but i need help im making a reverse loop track and i need to know how to wire everything up i dont want to get it wrong (watch your video very clever) do you have a website or something you could tell me about

  • what wood did you use for your layout?

  • what kind of engine is it?

  • British Rail (English Electric Diesel) class 37. The model is made by Bachmann. Cheers.

  • @ay76 what is it code for the manufacturer. Also does it come with the chip fitted and speaker

  • @Harryhsw200010 Comes with the sound decoder fitted as standard. See Bachmann's website for their current list of DCC sound loco's

  • i love this train i found one cheao i might go for it!

  • Cool, if you can get a bass reflex speaker fitted to it. But as it stand's with the normal one, i think you'll be very impressed. Cheers.

  • ok cheers

  • I'll be doing that dapol video today for you, Cheers

  • really!

cheers we are just looking at them in the shop

i will try to do jinteys reveng pt6 today

  • :-) Cheers.

  • Verry smart! I'd Like one of these!

  • Well worth getting. DCC sound really does add a new element to running the railway :-) Cheers.

  • Good Good! I'm thinking of making a joint track Between me and my friends track when i get my Pedolino set. I know that it has working lights, but do you know if it has sounds?

  • The pendolino dosen't come with working sounds.Best bet is to try one of the growing DCC sound specialist's such as Olivia's trains etc.Cheers.

  • can sound be used with a select?

  • As far as i know, yes. Also the Hornby DCC sound loco's will work (with ltd sounds) on normal DC control. I think Gaugemaster do some kind of black box that allows full DCC sound on DC.See their website for more details.

  • Hi really enjoyed your vids so I have just purchased my first dcc loco with sound(a Bachmann CL37) I wondered if you could tell me what the chip is for that comes in the small bag with the jumper cables etc.

    Many thanks

  • Possibly the blanking plug for the DCC decoder socket (in case you want to revert back to normal DC control). I'll check the bag of parts to be sure, that came with mine.Regards.

  • hey i might be able to make and upload one on thursday if it uploads and i have time ill let y know !

but im takeing you are in the uk cause i need to be a gatwick at 6am for the 8am flight

  • Yes, I'm based in the Uk. Have a good holiday. Cheers.

  • Is that HO or N?

  • OO. Same size track as HO but the loco's & rolling stock are a little bit bigger than HO. OO is more unique to Great Britain than any where else. cheers.

  • hi, is it true with a standard DC train with no decoder you can type in 00 and it runs but only on its own, i would love to know as im going to be going DCC at christmas hopefully and some of my trains don't have the socket to plug the decoder in and i can't be bothered to fit a socket thing. thanks

  • Yes that's correct. One thing though, make sure you have a section of track that you can knock off the power too. When you aren't running the non fitted decoder loco (DC), leave it stood on the section of track that you have turned the power off to.Other wise damage may occur to the DC loco. Best to fit all your fleet with decoders, or as I've done may a track that is switchable between DCC & DC. See latest layout update video's for more details. Cheers.

  • thanks, not 100% LOL but i will get there

  • Okay, cheers.

  • to spazman -

    its not a deltic

    sorry, i thought it was

  • Is that locomotive a Deltic?

  • Yeh

  • No it's a class 37. Cheers.

  • great series, definately convinced me to go DCC, I just wish I knew where I could get this loco :P

    cheers, Iain

  • thats great but im no good with DCC i think its more realistic than DC and love the sound

  • Just take your time with DCC. Worth buying any books on it to help. Cheers.

  • does this train have a special deature to be controlled? Does every model train have these features?

  • How ace is that :)

  • I think these on board DCC sound loco's are one of the biggest reasons for folk converting over to DCC control.Cheers.

  • Definitely

  • :-)

  • :D .

  • how much was that?

  • Around the £130 price mark. Cheers.

  • :S is it worth it?

  • I would say yes, as sound decoders on their own can be around £106 mark. Cheers.

  • Was the DCC decoder monted in loco when you bought it?

    That's question no. 1. No. 2:

What do you think, how much would cost DCC with sound? Especially if I would like to please Hornby for my own sounds, like sounds of Polish Pm1 / German BR01 Class loco. It's good to know for me because I'm gonna have this loco in early (late?) days. Greetengs and 5/5 for whole series ;)

  • How do you get train with out a credit card?

  • A case of saving up I guess.

  • Glad it's been of some help to you. I'll be adding more video's to it as the build continues on the new layout.Cheers.

  • how much did that train cost

  • Not sure if my reply got through to, but this loco was around the £130 mark. Cheers.

  • awsome!, i can't wait to get my first proper dcc locomotive!

  • Thanks mate, please post more this knid of "HowTo" in the future. It helps a lot for newbie like me.

  • Glad to be able to help. I have a few more ideas for some more DCC videos. Now where's my camera :-) any way, I hope you'll enjoy DCC as much as me & many others are.Seeing a DCC fitted loco with on board sound at a model show really got me to go DCC.I could let this loco just sit there & idle all day long, all that's missing is the exhaust clag!! :-) Cheers.

  • hi ay76, is hornby controller also suitable for DCC fitted Bachmann i.e can i run hornby and bachmann on the same track using the same hornby controller. Thanks.

  • What you see here is a Bachmann with factory fitted on board sound loco running & under control using the Hornby Elite DCC Controller. So yes both Hornby & Bachmann will run on the same track using the Hornby Select or Elite DCC controllers. My fleet are fitted with decoders from Hornby, Bachmann, Zimo, TCS & several loco's from both Hornby & Bachmann which come with their on board sound factory fitted decoders. Hope this helps answer your questions.Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • if i put a hornby decoder in a bachmann engine, can i control it with a hornby eleite

  • Yes.

  • if u install a dcc chip into a train, will u be able to run it on non dcc layouts or with another dcc system?

  • Yes you should be able to. I've seen the all new Hornby class 56 with sound working on dc & the best bit is that the sound works on it too!! Not sure how you'd get all the functions to work though on DC. I think the answer to the 2nd question would be mainly yes, just look for the systems/decoders that are NMRA approved.Cheers.

  • thanks mate! but here we don't have nmra we have amra, thnx anyway

  • Cheers.

  • what sound chip do you use and how do you install it. just it sounds so real!

  • This loco already comes with it fitted from Bachmann. When i get round to buying a sound decoder I'll do a video on how to fit it. What you see here sounds even better in the flesh so to speak. Cheers.

  • where did you get the carrage with the graffiti on the side from?

  • That is the most realistic that a locomotive can get. (except for the smoke)

What DCC system do you use?

  • Hi Ben,Thank you for your kind comments. The DCC system I'm using is the Hornby Elite. The decoders I'm using are Hornby, Bachmann,TCS & also Zimo. The loco's that are currently fitted with the decoders are Hornby,Bachmann & Heljan.

    Kind regards & cheers.

  • Thanks for the quick reply.

Your system is way more advanced then mine.

Is it possible to have a DCC controller that just sits on the base board that's just as advanced as yours?

  • Just wondering Iain, the functions F1 f0 f8 etc. are they factory set or do you have to user define what button does what, is the setup you show here, f8 cab light, f1 lights, f0 sound, pre-set? cheers

  • They are factory set by Bachmann on this loco. The other loco I have is set slightly different.Just see the instruction leaflet that comes with the loco's or decoder.I'm sure they'll be a way to do a user define pre-set on some functions though.Cheers

  • the sound sounds cool as!!

  • Thank you.Sound even better when you hear it for real.Cheers

  • Great Vid !!! Beautiful Trains !!! 5*

  • Many thanks Alan. The on board sound really adds another element to running them.Cheers.

  • fantastic sound and thanks for the demo mate!

  • Thank you, more of this tractor to come, cheers.

  • awsome!

  • Thanks mate, cheers.

  • Awesome video Iain, thanks for sending me it

  • Thank you, glad you like it.More to come.Cheers

  • Good idea, like the speech bubbles.

  • Thank you, thought this may help any one as to how you do the sound on DCC.Love your great layout by the way. What plans have you got for the new house when you move?Cheers

  • Excellnt video mate. Great sound too. Is this the one you had re-blown by Howes?

  • Thank you, this one is as it came from Bachmann, the other one that you know about is going to be sent to Howes to be reblown.Cheers

  • F3 F3 F2....

  • :-) Cheers
