At the moment, I think I would enjoy this even though the graphics are subpar, just for the classics sake alone. Seeing those cubes change colors.. I dunno.. I can't explain it.. the simplicity and strategy of it all is just so captivating now that I'm sick of being flooded with FPS games with horrible story lines anyway and wasting 60 dollars on them.

This review is off the mark. I played this game until my eyes fell out. The graphics were good at the time. We need to consider the age of this console. the controls could have been better, but with a good 5200 controller or on an emulator, the game plays great.

@GisherJohn24 I agree. All of Parker Brothers versions of games were great for the system. The ONLY thing bad was of course, the controllers.

Update: I just received this game yeaterday. The game is good. Just those damn controllers! But I do think that Parker Brothers had a good idea that required the button to be pushed to move the player (like 5200 Frogger). This allowed some control due to the Atari controllers sloppy way of doing things!

I used to play this as a kid... on a black and white TV. Not sure what Atari I had, it might have been a 2600. Also, the pit isn't bottomless. The arcade machine had a pinball striker which would thunk the cabinet when something fell!

Actually, the pit DOES have a bottom. The original arcade machine has a coil inside that hits an interior cabinet wall to simulate a character hitting the bottom after falling off the pyramid.

One of the greatest Classic games! In the film "King of Kong" they show the old lady who holds the record for more than 20 years now. She died in the making of the movie... In that movie the King of Kong offers her the original cabinet of the Q*Bert game. She looks "Stocked" :)

colecvision port was amazing for it's time. mainly because the controls were perfect.

the nes version was terrible btw! konami thought it would be a good idea to have q*bert turn his head before moving... ?$#!@# bad idea.

haven't tried this on psn, but i really hope they added a vibration when q*bert falls off. the arcade version had a part from a pinball machine that would actually knock on the inside of the cab! so cool.

Let it be known that the Wii just so happens to be my favorite system of the three. Fun games, Virtual Console, innovative controls and gameplay, and all my favorite Nintendo characters making fun as fuck games... Sounds like a winner to me. Plus I'm not a fan of FPS games, and that covers a vast majority of the PS3's and 360's library.

At first it wasn't very good *the game selection.* But now, and in a few more months the selection will be terrific. I only have a 360 now. But I'm putting aside money to get a PS3, and also a Wii since we're talking about being thankful for consoles. Off topic - I'm pissed that Nintendo just handed off Kid Icarus to hand held 3DS, and not a big enough game for Wii Console. Sorry that I digress.

I have the Dreamcast version.

This was the first game I played on the Atari 2600. If I remember, controlling Q*Bert was very difficult.
