2:17-2:23 "Time is a way of spatializing change". I sometimes think of time as a dimension needed to display infinite unity, to present that which cannot be presented as a whole at once, because the infinite by definition cannot be comprehended. How can you show an infinite mass of water? By letting it flow by as a river.
Here is a fellow who likes to hear himself talking. But the whole point of the matter goes by his (big) nose, since he intellectualizes the whole thing. What about KEEPING QUIET boy, - have you ever tried that?
All the questioning, all the analysis, all the longing for evidence, is nonduality. It cannot be engaged or described, but it is all that appears to be, whatever the appearance. It is so obvious it confounds the mind. Especially the apparent mind of the seeming individual in this video!
It's actually fairly easy to tell a true teacher from a charlatan, especially after you've been on the path awhile. For one thing, a true teacher has no agenda and therefore will never attempt manipulation. A true teacher doesn't even think to herself, "my purpose is to teach". She understands that teaching has no purpose.
Interesting discussion. Your question regarding guru legitimacy and speculation that one cannot tell a charlatan from an authentic teacher is curious. Trust your inner guidance. Someone who may offer a place to grow for one person may not for you. Even those with a large ego may have some value to share. You may like Eckhart Tolle - he has a very unassuming personality.
I agree that time can't be counted, but only to a point. If people look far back into the universe, the light years can be estimated to be a certain amount, even if the amount isn't really known for sure. When you say non duality, do you mean outside the universe?
I agree language gets horribly in the way of non duality/oneness. Standing outside oneness is clearly an oxymoron, but the very fact one is in it means that there is nowhere it is not, even within that you might find abhorrent.
You tell raise a vital point about gurus. One can tell the difference.
I'm glad you've raised this, I've been considering making a video on it but it's very nature makes how to approach it rather difficult.
How would either of you reconcile this...If earth is a gaseous bubble amidst a vacuuous nothing, how is it that planets and suns distant from here are connected, not separate from this earth?
i think they are connected in the same underlying way that isolated fractals arise in a julia set like this:
math.mcgill . ca/~dubois/Math578/julia.gif
that is how i am conceptualizing it, anyway. other solar systems seem to be distant from ours, but they are not disconnected, they are just reiterations of our own.
The vacuous nothing is actually something. The vacuum/space contains hydrogen plasma, electromagnetic radiation, and other "stuff" that's currently unknown (dark matter, and so on). There is a physical connection. (not sure if my comment pertains to what you are trying to postulate, though)
packets of change. there is unit in physics called action. you can "unitify" anything at the the level physics works. but problems remain like what kg actually is...
as for gurus: good question. much can be said. the first rule "a la fight club", as mentioned already, should of course be "don't believe any guru". pure coincidets. it's as much the matter of person seeing guru as guru itself.

If she understands teaching has no purpose then why is she a teacher? :-)
JasonOnEarth 3 years ago
She teaches because it is natural for her to teach- in the same way it is natural for flowers to bloom in Spring.

Or for leaves to fall in the Autumn. Good example. :-) Thanks.

By non-duality do you mean oneness?

I have no idea.

Then why would you speak of it? :-)

'...reality is like a fractal, has no begininng and no ending. Time is a way of spatialising change...'
Very, very nicely put.
