Reminds me of when we were young getting ready to go out and we would have music playing in the background we knew just better music ahead for that evening so might as well start off with the good jamz
Bit late i know but i was also there at the Cali, good night--but then it always was there, brilliant venue, shouldnt live in the past--but wheres my time machine!
I was stationed in England this came out. It brings back memories of my first ex-wife - Lol - and Liverpool, and the Forresters (ex in-laws), and Crasher.
Can't wait to see Central Line and the Brit Funk Crew at O2 in April. I did go to the one in Camden a couple of years ago and loved every moment. I am so looking forward to this event. Woooo, Sunshine.... Got my ticket. Oh yes. =)
I was working at a record shop during my varsity days and I came across this tune. I WAS walking on sunshine those days. They were a precursor to a career on radio that I sorely miss ... I gotta get away, I got to do it now, gotta walk into the sun ha ha! Classic stuff!
The first memory of this song was in 4th or 5th grade. A girl named Kimberly J. brought the album into school. This was a catholic school, St. Patrick's. Sr. Barbara (I think) was about to make an announcement and pulled the needle from record at the most pivotal point---"I often fly away, where the sun always shine, 8 days a week, cause there'll be...........Had to wait to hear it on the radio. Will always associate this song with that memory. Taught me the meaning of anticipation.
Wow what a classic throw back reminds me of back in the day N.Y.C. held so much positive energy music was off the charts everyother day another classic choon was being pushed & many were coming from acrosss the pond. Boy do we all need a walk in to sunshine...2day music & club scene whew every1 is mad no 1 dances like back n da day, screw faces throughout the club ever1 seems angry...i guess music is a reflection of 2days generation & boy does this tune fit well w2days youth.Miss the old school
@port2344chester Allot of people don't know how influential Frankie Krocker was in the radio biz.. If He "broke" the song, then every breaker radio across the county started to play it too! FRANKIE was a bad, bad man!
@ScottyMixWell Yes you are so right about that back in the day many radio sta tried to copy his style.Yet failed to bring the same magic the city suffered when he left for Cali. His rare&chance taking style was what made him.He had that flare for the fellas & ohh how he made the ladies throw the panties on stage.Frankie was way ahead of his time & all that worked w him were very lucky & you cant teach or learn that in school. He had street&engineering skills that was a gift from god.
I really have to get a new turn table and get the old 45's from the loft - where did all that time go? eclipsepatent = Not so much of the old (Big grin) - still 16 in the head!
No the feeling mate, as im 48 on the 15th December!!! Still love the 80's music and even though im a few stone hevier now days im still young at heart! All the best Wayne..
I don't blame you either as those were just the best days and the lyceum was just the place to be. Greg Edwards was sort of the celebraty DJ of his time. Great times and great dancing. By the way farmereddy you will always be 20 when you hear this and god bless you and all who enjoyed class like this.
Remember my times at the Lycym at the Strand and this was one of the tunes i always begged them to play. Im 46 now and still love this song as much as i did back then. Thanx for adding this to youtube, cheers Wayne.
Anybody remember going to the best disco in town at the lycym in the Strand. The DJ shouted are we going to make this record a hit and we all shouted back yes. And I went down to petticoat market that day and and bought it and still have it now. What a memory. Thanks for posting
Thank You for putting this on here it brings back wonderful memories. My brother this is not the Larry Levan Mix however that mix is 2 minutes and 33 seconds longer than this mix. This mix is the original Roy Carter production before Larry remixed it and both versions sound as wonderful now as they did then. Again Thank You for posting this I love both versions of this song. Cheers man.
Central Line were a pop and jazz-funk group based out of London, England. They recorded several albums for Mercury Records in the 1980s
Their song Squarepusher is one of the most sampled songs in electronic music history. The drumlines in Squarepusher could almost be described as the official drumline of Drum -n- Bass (Jungle)
yet another garage song being summer this song was play for us loading on to the buses going to the beach from the garage wow what a time it was. God bless your soul larry for the good times you gave me with your music.
