  • Why I love the PRS Custom 24 over a Les Paul Standard is that is has a much sweeter tone and much more tonal range but Les Pauls' do have more sustain

  • Lovely guitar. I've got one the same color but without the bird inlays. Like you say - its the nicest guitar I've owned also.

  • @phillew9 Just to let you know I was going to approve the video response you sent but after I watched it, it had disappeared from my inbox. Send it again and I'll approve it. Thanks!

  • very nice guitar man!!! I just bought one couple days ago prs custom 24 10 top 2011 model:) check my chanel I made a clip of it:) proud prs owner!

  • Oh shit it's Donnie Osmond.

  • Playing starts at 6:10

People loooove to hear themselves talk.

  • @iHacksorzz I say this is a review within the first 3 seconds - if you want to hear a PRS being played there are 1000's of other videos you can watch. A review gives information and opinions.

  • @damrak1969 lol i was trolling lol, nice review, beautiful guitar.

  • @iHacksorzz Well you got me then! Thanks.

  • What's the finish on your guitar? Can't figure out which blue it is, but I really like it. I'd probably buy one just like that if I had the money to drop on it.

  • @sxesamuel It is the whale blue. The matteo blus is lighter.

  • @lambofgodrules1000 Try the PRS Torrero mate ;D

  • @lambofgodrules1000 it will work for metal, check out some of mark tremonti's heavier tones and Between The Buried and Me use them. Also, if your into the active pickups, Check out the Prs Se Torrero guitar. It has EMG pickups and a Floyd Rose for somewhere around $900

  • Good review! I just got a Custom 24 a few weeks ago and WOW is all I can say. I have the Emerald Green Top 10 model. It's so versatile, but the cleans are just stellar

  • @lambofgodrules1000

Depends on the metal. Mikael Akerfeld of Opeth has a signature PRS. The guys in Between the Buried and Me both play Custom 24s...Ibanez is more traditional for metal, but i'd recommend this as well

  • Hey man, great review. I had a question about your custom 24. (If anyone else answers this, I thank you) You commented that it had a thicker neck then most metal guitarists would like but is it really chunky like a Les Paul or thinner? Thicker?

  • @bearfeymous I really can't say as I've never owned a Gibson Les Paul. It was pretty comparable to a couple of Strats I've played and a Samick Les Paul I owned. The "wide" in wide/thin is supposed to correspond to the height of the fretboard (From low E to High E) and the Thin is of course front to back size. It is thicker than most "shredder" type guitars I've played (Jackson, Ibanez RG) but it is not uncomfortable. Probably similar to a true Les Paul. Thanks for watching.

  • @bearfeymous I have a PRS Custom 24 08 model. The neck is wider and flatter than the Les Paul, but more the shape of a Les Paul...It's like an Ibanez Wizard neck meets a fat LP one. In terms of sound its got the perfect warm and deep, deep, deep tone. I play stuff like Between the Buried and Me, but this guitar makes me kill the distortion and just mess around with the clean tone. It's beautiful. Sorry I'm digressing a bit haha, I think Ibanez is better for metal but this guitar great aswell

  • @thisisaname123 You like between the buried and me!? :DD Thanks man, I have a guitar called an agile 2500 and I was looking to upgrade and it has a thin neck that's rounded like an LP so I was I dunno, worried about the shape of a PRS neck. Thanks for your feedback man. I'm kind of curious (and jealous lol) what finish is your prs?

  • @bearfeymous It is whale blue. I believe the PRS SE Custom 24 has the wide/thin neck pretty much the same profile as the American Customs so you could probably find one of those to play and test out it pretty easy - there is no real comparison as to how the guitars play but you could get the feel of the neck from the SE. Unless you are used to a really thin neck you probably won't notice a whole lot of difference. I was used to the feel of my guitar within a day or two. Thanks for watching!

  • @bearfeymous "polyester basecoat and acrylic urethane topcoat" is literally what it is, but if you mean color and all that its an emerald green 10 top. Its absolutely stunning imo

  • @bearfeymous I believe it's thicker than an ibanez S and thinner than a Les Paul, similar to a strat, though i've only played the SE version of the custom 24

  • @lambofgodrules1000 I don't see a lot of metal players using this guitar - probably because the neck is thicker than many metal guitars - plus it doesn't have active pickups. You would probably want to change out pickups, even though the pickups in it are fairly hot. The PRS is made so it can be used with many different styles of music. If you want a strictly metal guitar you may want to use something like an ESP, Ibanez or a Jackson - especially if you like to use a Floyd Rose.

  • You sir own my dream guitar, and I salute you!

  • what's the tonal difference between rosewood neck and mahogany standard?did anyone try out??

  • what color is that? whale blue? :S

    reply please...

im trying to find a new guitar.. i fell in love with that guitar... but i need to find an affordable one...

hope i can find one that ressembles this one in a lower price category with a pretty good quality... ;___; mimimi

  • @helldemon618 Yes - it is whale blue. If you are wanting a less expensive PRS you are probably going to have to try to find one of the used CE (Classic Electric) models on craigslist or on ebay They are bolt on guitars but still excellent quality and look just like the Custom models. You can usually find them for $1000 to $1500 but they don't get much cheaper than that but you should be able to find one in blue. Search for CE 22 or CE 24. The neck is a little fatter on the CE 22. Good Luck!

  • @damrak1969 o_o ... D: *sigh* guess i'll wait till im rich -.- ....man i'd kill for a guitar like yours...

  • @helldemon618 Just start saving whatever you can. It will take you a while but you will get there eventually and really, keep an eye out on craigslist. I bought a CE 22 for $900 about 2 years ago froma guy who was having hard times. I had to drive a couple hundred miles to get it but there are deals out there, especially in this crappy economy. It was a great guitar but I sold it to raise money for a Custom 24. I wish I still had it.

  • @damrak1969 yeah i know what you mean... i COULD go and buy one... but wel i'm 18 right now.. i got like $10 000 ... but I don't wanna lose too much of it... anyway.. my epiphone les paul has a killer sound aswel ^^

  • Thank you so much for this video! Bought a 2009 Custom 22 today!!!

  • @emissarygtrist You're welcome. Post a little video - I'd love to see your new baby!

  • Great layman review. I have been interested in PRS and you just sort of solved the dilemma for me. I'll have to look into it a little more now.

Your mic could be much better though I must say, but it's not a big deal. Thanks man.

  • Wonderfully enjoyable, informative and civilised ten minutes.

  • 9 minutes of talking, 50 seconds of playing recorded through the camera. dont bother

  • @Wiggzzzz That's what a review is - talking and explanation. If you want to see demonstrations of a PRS there are thousands for you to watch on youtube. Thanks.

  • Great review. Now I can't decide between the blue or the black finish....

  • it has 24 frets! and one of the best 24 fretted guitars ive ever seen and heard.

I know someone who has a schecter hellraiser 24 fretted but I ersonally don't like the sound. Nonetheless, schecters are awesome but not for me, I prefer prs

    cant wait to get one

  • Thanks for posting this interesting review. Considering buying a PRS and it helps to have someone giving an unbiased description. Cheers.

  • @swissroll55 Glad you found it useful.

  • I sure hope being a full time college student with no job pays off... Being 18 and have been playing guitar for 10 years and all I own is an Epi less paul custom. Just can't get the money for one. Not that I don't want to work, but that I just can't.

  • @Clipster15 Make the grades in school and get a decent job and save your money and you can get one. Good luck!

  • @damrak1969 Thanks for the positive response. Keep playing!

  • I really like this video, most prs vids are metal heads shreading, but this video seems like stuff I would play, and the guy isn't a tool

  • I c haters

  • why prs? i live in maryland and during the summer i worked at the factory. the fellow workers and luthiers realy dont give a shit. buy urself a gibson

  • @stephen0093 I've heard the same thing about Gibson, plus I have a lot more respect for Paul who really seems to be passionate about his company unlike Gibson and Fender which are totally corporate and might as well be selling widgets instead of guitars. Plus you can't get the variety of sounds from a Gibson as with a PRS. Gibsons have thier place but I'm just not crazy for them.

  • What the point of those shit videos....

  • Thanks for this review. I was a little worried about the W/T neck but you cleared that up for me. Just need to get into a shop to try one out. Very nice purchase you made there.

  • The worlds best made guitars! congrats on getting one, i just have one question, do all of the custom usa made come with a hard case?

    thank you

  • @josh2398 As far as I'm aware all USA models do come with a hard case. Thanks for watching.

  • Do you like the nod style switch over the blade type pickup switch?

Why would any one hate a PRS?

  • @keystoneice6 I think I'd like to have a blade switch but I'm not going to do the changeover and I'll keep it all original. Surprisingly, some people do hate on PRS - I guess they feel they are overhyped or too expensive. To each his own.

  • Also whether or not a PRS has a bolt on neck or a set neck has nothing to do with the size of the heel. A 22 fret PRS has a bigger heel than a 24 fret. A Bolt on 24 fret has a smaller heel than a 22 fret Custom (set neck) guitar.

  • Sorry just to be clear there is no two humbucker position,

    * Position 10: Treble pickup

    * Position 9: Outside coils

    * Position 8: Series single coils

    * Position 7: Parallel single coils

    * Position 6: Bass pickup

the best set up for this is not the toggle switch, is the 5 positiob blade you can go from humbicker to coil tap position back and foward, with the toggle you have to switch plus pull/push the tone nob too. and the 5 position blade is and option with no extra cost on the guitar.

  • @yamillrock I was surprised but - Yep - you're right - I checked the PRS website for the switching positions.

  • It is a very common mod to get a three way switch and push pull knob on that guitar. It cost about $70 and you don't have to alter the body or anything. It's an easy mod.

  • @jude924 I'll look into it. Do you know of any place to get inexpensive PRS original or matching parts?

  • @damrak1969 - Take a look at the Stewart-McDonald site, they're a supplier for luthiers, and sell full wiring harness kits for PRS and other guitars, as well as individual items at very reasonable prices ;-). Also, the online store ("shop" on the PRS site) should be back up before too long, and they sell pickups and some other things. Very nice CU24 you have there!

  • @rand98 Thanks - I'm familiar with stewmaw and I'll look at what they have. I found a company called Imojo and they sell a drop in kit specifically sized for American PRS guitars with volume and tone pots with a toggle. Their tone pot is a push/push pot and that sounds even better than a push/pull type. It runs $80.00 + s&h.
