Hello~how to rename the volume label?? i cant format my removable device without volume label..when i change it,i "The volume label is not valid, please enter a valid volume label" what shoul i do ?? PLEASE SAVE MY LIFE^^
okay i got files in the external hardisk and i don't want to loss them if i convert it from fat32 to ntfs i will loss them ? cuase the files is important don't want lose them and also when i want copy files more than 4 gb its saying this file is to large to copy cuase its fat32 from that why i want to change it to ntfs and copy more than 10 gb files hope u help me and thank you
You left out a gargantuan piece of information.....do you lose existing files with the second method or not? Your video didn't answer this. The format (first option) will obviously delete all files.
I think you should explain this in your video, otherwise why explain two ways to do the same thing when one is clearly easier?
im trying to do this, but it asks the volume of drive? ive tried 930Gb and even enterd in the volume in bytes. but it still says wrong volume entered? any help?
Thank you very much. I did the second option because the first was not available. When I right click on it and go to format, it says the thumb drive is still fat32. I hope rebooting will make it work. If it does, 5 stars!
I have a question. I'm trying to change my External that is currently FAT32 to NTFS, I know how to do it but I'm scared that during the conversion, it will erase all the stuff on my external. Does anyone know if it will or not?
I tried to do things as showed but windows said some files were in use, and that the action would be preformed after restart so after resartI got a error and it didn´t proceed
you do not have to back up any files at all it is not a format it is just converting system types you keep all of your files and btw if you have problems try running under admin and here is the formula >convert "drive letter goes here": (space)/fs:ntfs and in most cases it does not i repeat does not reboot and start the process it should start automatically dont worry you will not lose any data

This is nice and all but...
I have 131/149 GB on my external HD occupied...
while my comp only has 33GBs of HD. How am I supposed to back that up?
Stupid, why can't they just reformat the drive without having a backup.

For those not very Tech savvy:
convert E: /fs:ntfs is the command
E: = The drive letter of the storage device
fs= File System
NTFS = New technology file system

tyafricatyafrica 3 years ago

will it delete everything on the drive?
PrawdehFish 3 years ago
Yes, because you are basically reformating it. Back up all your data on your hard drive first then do this.
