I'm thinking it'll be someing about Gene Roddenberry's life. Back in 1947, he was with a rescue team after a Pam Am plane crashed in the Syrian desert. He was commended for his efforts.
@SteveSWC Joe Menosky graduated from Pomona College in 1979 and went on to become one of the story writers of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Menosky "infected" other Star Trek writers with an enthusiasm for the number 47. As a result, 47, its reverse 74, its multiples, or combinations of 47 occur surreptitiously in almost every episode of the program and its spin-offs, Forty-seven might be mentioned in dialogue or appear on a computer screen
I don't think the stardates begining with 4 7 should count since every stardate from the 7th season would have begun with 4 7. That's how you can tell which season an episode is from -by paying attention to what the second number in the stardate is when you hear them making entries into the logs. The 1st season = "stardate 4 1 ...", the 2nd season = "stardate 4 2 ...", etc. The 4 at the begining of each stardate is meant to signify that it's taking place in the 24th century.
If you look at the doco's on the box set dvd's, interviewing the writers, they said that 47 was simply their lucky number, so they put it everywhere, in dialogue on consoles. thats why :P
Joshonator12, well done!!! This was fascinating to watch - I guess 47 just sounds like a good number to the writers plus it probably flows off the tongue well for the actors. My favourite 47 was Nurse Alyssa Ogawa in the turbolift with Wesley at 2:33. 47 never sounded sexier...lol
Here's a challenge: find how many times the number 18 appears. I know of at least 3 instance where that is a casualty count: Q Who, Face of the Enemy, and The Best of Both worlds (Iffy because it may be 19 total)
It would of been great if you somehow could of made this video 5:47 long :D

It's amazing that I never noticed how many times it's repeated, llol. What episode is 2:42 - 2:54?

This must've taken really long, and didn't get as many views as I expected it to.

Nice. I like the more specific ones, like casualty figures and times, rather than the stardates, etc.
