  • Hello all,

i've been sailing this vessel for a few years, i watched the video and a few quiestions.. ill try to answer them as bright as possibel..

    yes its hamilton jets

    no its not inflatebel

    yes its a bumper around

yes their fast... with a cleaned bottom he wil go about 30 nautical mile (1852meter)

  • explaination of this approach:

Cargo vessel makes lee (wind on the other side of the pilot vessel)

so the pilot vessel can be much stabeler, sailing speed between 4 and 8 nm (or knots the same) this because when he is dead schip both schips will move to much… this schape of vessels cut more trough the water when sailing.

  • Way of approach:

Pilot vessel will put the head to the cargo vessel in a 145 degrees angle..

Then he will decrease power, and the vessel will glide from the front to the aft..

But before he is at the pilot ladder he try's to sail equal.. So the pilot can step on or of

The ladder but when he falls he wil fall in the open angle of the both vessels

That’s because we did that this way… I hope I explained well and bright

    Greetz

  • @randolphzuijderwijk I understand that the pilot better falls in the open angle than on the deck of the pilot boat! But then, there's the enormous suction power of the propellor of the cargo vessel. What do you thinkk, would happen if he falls in the open angle? Would he manage to keep floating or would the propellor draw him under the hull and turn him into pilot soup?

  • that when the fall in the water they are lying on there back and try to pusch them with there feets away from the vessel, and swim forrest swim ;) if you heve good pilot vessel crew and its possibel, then its always good that the pilot vessel is positioning hiself between the pilot and the cargo (big vessel) but it happends in my time when i was on duty (i was NOT whitness) but they (he) survived... so evidently it is to do. hope i informed you well and have a nice day

  • @randolphzuijderwijk Thanks, have a nice day! Your message aint too big, but needs to be approved.

  • @HenkPeelen this is the rest hahah hai henk,

i assume your a dutch person (by seeing your name) i worked at hoek van holland and ijmuiden, but first of all iam sorry for the late reaction. unfortunatly it happened a few times in holland that a pilot, felt down in the water. but as far as i know the last (maybe 10-15years) never i pilot went to (pilot soup haha) i think its always possibel, but thinking off the buoyancy of his suit and his floatation suit, the speed of the vessel that

  • @HenkPeelen

i tried replying but it was to big :( i will try it as a commend and otherwise in an mail direct to you, sorry

  • @HenkPeelen and the rest haha its drama the short massages! but there are trained when they fell on there back (and then the rest of that message) sorry for the inconvieniance, bye bye

  • TO me that look pretty fast.. Why ship don't slow down? What speed ship usualy have when pilot leaving or boarding ship? What if he fall in wather, in that place of ship propeller still can't pull him down i guess?

  • Aaaah, you're a treat! Thanks for your comments Ronnin79 You know something, Dutch pilots never think about such dangers, they just think about moneu and have a bottle of shampoo and a towel at hand for the unforseen case they would fall into the water, thinking it would safe them 2 Euros for filling the bath tube with hot water. I hope they read your message and are impressed by your concern.

  • nice video thanks

  • Captain around 10 years, after that and some exams u are able to become a pilot. In addition, being Captain requires too much time, trips of 2...3..4...5 months away from home and family. Instead the pilot may work near his home it requires less than a day in many cases. And benefit$ are high. I hope your question is answered.

  • byss89 Why become a pilot when you can be the Captain?

  • @cap10ed Because I Love pussy and ships!!! Pilots get to enjoy best of both worlds!!!

  • COOL VID +1

  • Chandon is los, goeie stoom. Volgende keer, weer

  • Good to hear from you byss89!

    Safe voyage!

  • Thank you HenkPeelen, I really appreciate it alot

  • Great Vid Guys, keep em coming. I'm giong to become a Marine Pilot soon

  • Is that thing an inflatable?

  • It looks like that, but it's a rigid one.

  • @RanchoCoral

its just a giant bumper around the boat since it basically has to run into the ships and hold it self up against them.

Hamilton Jets on the pilot boats make it all possible!

  • Ok are u guys stranded out at sea now cuz if u are I can help find u....Let me know ok!
