  • That cannot be 10 pound... My teacher's assistant, hes holding a 5lbs and its already really heavy and hes litterally 3x buffer than him.

  • he must be very small

  • R.I.P. a great loss especially to the martial art community.

  • Interesting to see one of those forms, though that sword looks alot bigger than I thought a da dao was supposed to be.

  • Love it. My favorite version of the baguadao.Good job, Mike.

  • those things are freakishly big, looks like a very small person with a regular sword almost.

  • finally an actual dadao most of the other videos saying dadao are showing a kwan dao!

  • nice.... thanks for this.

  • Beautiful form, great flow.

  • thankyou very much for the nice comment, mikemartello

  • Absolutely incredible, given the weight of the weapon.

  • thankyou, the sword is around 5 lbs, the training sword is heavier by 4lbs and larger in size. the weapon is used for training inner power not used in application, although yes it can too... best, mikemartello

  • So, the one on the clip is 5 lbs, not 10? The description of the clip gave the impression that the sword you actually USED in that clip was 10 lbs...

(Just clarifying... It's still quite impressive, but at least at 5 lbs it doesn't appear as practically impossible to do as it would be with a 10 lbs sword... :-))

  • sorry for wrong impression, i normally train the heavy one but when traveling and competiting the lighter one is better...

    best mikemartello

  • I wish the video quality was better. The large baguadao is also (rarely) used in Wu style taijiquan, where it is just called dadao. Wu Jianquan was a colleague of Sun Lutang.

  • I have yet to see a sword of that style. I have a simple dao but what kind of sword is that giant

  • darkwall, its called bagua dadao, used for training inner power, usually around 5 to 9 lbs and 5 half ft tall.. swords trains flow, root and finess...

    best, mikemartello

  • interesting concept, however my style doesnt teach that, oh well, my instructor has instructors of other styles come in occasionally to teach seminars. I'll ask him about this weapon.

  • thedark, just email me, i am always available for workshops...

    thanks... mikemartello

  • i myself have learnt the chen style kwan dao but am wanting this form now its the dogs if i do say so myself

what style of bagua do you know?

  • wongf, sorry for late reply, i study yin style from taiwan, the form played is cut to 3/4 for competition, to long otherwise, taught to me many moons ago. I hope your training goes well, thanks for the comment...mike

  • Hahah wow that's very cool, a Dadao. I haven't seen many people use those in their forms, this is probably the second time i've seen it. Very cool!

  • interesting form...i've never seen such a form before, but it's very interesting ;)

  • this is amazing, beautiful form, one can see the difference between traditional vs. flowery methods aka modern wu shu

  • Thank you... Bagua DaDao is fun and a great training tool... Glad you like the vids, more to come soon...

  • That is a bigass sword... of Cloud Strife proportions... :)
