When people buy property they should at least know their rights, which ends at the sidewalk. Everything from that point to the center of the street is the property of the city. He violated city laws erecting the pole in the 'parkway' which is city property. No matter how long it was tolerated he had no rights to do what he wanted with the property. Even without sidewalks that property would fall under eminent domain and he still has no right to it. Know your laws people

The basketball hoops are not on private property. The city owns the property from the center of the street to a certain point from the center of the street. This allows the city to maintain sewer systems and or put in sidewalks etc. The basketball hoop is placed on the edge of the street thus it is on public property without a permit. If it is allowed, whats to stop people from placing other items in the same location in front of their houses? What you allow for one you must allow for others.

In addition the government has allowed it'sself to designate, without Constitutional authority, the right of it'self and corporations to impead onto people's private property by placing a sidewalk onto the private property without paying for it.
The location of the basketball hoop turns the street into a basketball court. By allowing it the city is accepting liability for injuries that might occure as a result of it being there like cars running over people playing basketball. It is the same as the city allowing people to set up a soccer field on the freeway. If someone is ran over the city could be sued for allowing the activity to exist on public property.

I would sue the county sheriffs department out of existence for that year. I would sue them for every dime they had. They are 1 trespassing on private property and 2 they are stealing (committing theft). I would also sue the social worker there trying to be the law. This is asinine and ridiculous.

The next street over from me a young man was stabbed to death in the street by two men. A few nights ago a man was shot down by people in a van. At the same place a week earlier another young man was shot. I use to be comfortable here. Now I don't go outside after dark. This is normally considered a nice neighborhood. What you say is true. Sorry pastor, you're on the wrong side of this one. Im a staunch libertarian, but there is a law that says no basketball goals within seven feet of a public road, and for good reason, child safety being first and foremost along with peoples ability to drive down a road without waiting on a basketball game are legitimate reasons for this law. Although this guy lives at the end of his road, the city cant let him have his goal up, while not allowing others. We can find much better reasons to be mad

I wonder if police did show authorization papers with names under or not. Had there been incidents that kids almost died when playing? Was that woman´s hoop "the only safely situated"? Why didn´t people just turn the whole thing around, facing the other way?

The hoop was placed on city property. The street to the sidewalk is an easement and owned by the city. Obviously the owner and many others do not know this. But the owner was given an order of compliance and failed.
If I parked my car on an easement, the city would put a note on the car with a time to have the car removed, if the car is not removed in time alotted, it will be towed.

When people buy property they should at least know their rights, which ends at the sidewalk. Everything from that point to the center of the street is the property of the city. He violated city laws erecting the pole in the 'parkway' which is city property. No matter how long it was tolerated he had no rights to do what he wanted with the property. Even without sidewalks that property would fall under eminent domain and he still has no right to it. Know your laws people

The basketball hoops are not on private property. The city owns the property from the center of the street to a certain point from the center of the street. This allows the city to maintain sewer systems and or put in sidewalks etc. The basketball hoop is placed on the edge of the street thus it is on public property without a permit. If it is allowed, whats to stop people from placing other items in the same location in front of their houses? What you allow for one you must allow for others.

In addition the government has allowed it'sself to designate, without Constitutional authority, the right of it'self and corporations to impead onto people's private property by placing a sidewalk onto the private property without paying for it.

The location of the basketball hoop turns the street into a basketball court. By allowing it the city is accepting liability for injuries that might occure as a result of it being there like cars running over people playing basketball. It is the same as the city allowing people to set up a soccer field on the freeway. If someone is ran over the city could be sued for allowing the activity to exist on public property.
Sorry folks, I think the city is right for removing these hoops.

That NASTY, AGGRESSIVE, LYING, THIEVING police lady would have had to arrest me to get that pole, because I would have been chained to it! She said "they'll lay it in your driveway", then STOLE IT!! The next street over from me a young man was stabbed to death in the street by two men. A few nights ago a man was shot down by people in a van. At the same place a week earlier another young man was shot. I use to be comfortable here. Now I don't go outside after dark. This is normally considered a nice neighborhood. What you say is true. Things are getting worse. We can't all get out of the cities but those can should.

Im a staunch libertarian, but there is a law that says no basketball goals within seven feet of a public road, and for good reason, child safety being first and foremost along with peoples ability to drive down a road without waiting on a basketball game are legitimate reasons for this law. And yes, it reminds the police as well of their powers and how it should be used, in this case it was a waste of taxpayers money, even if on the street, the homeowner should have been given the opportunity of due process. I hope he appeals and forces the city to place a new pole inside his property. Its evident that they ruined his pole.

I am saddened so many want to open fire and KILL PEOPLE over a overstepping her authority cop (get in your house!) and a city removing a pole on CITY property on the side of a PUBLIC ROAD, a right-of-way law that existed far before 60 years ago when the pole was put in ILLEGALLY...
Where were all you "Patriots" when "religious people" were burned down in Waco or a mother shot in the head in Ruby Ridge? Or when Clinton banned most military surplus sales (our tax money bought it)? Give me a break

I think you'll always get youngsters protesting but when the working man takes a stand against oppression, it changes nations.

I wonder if police did show authorization papers with names under or not. Had there been incidents that kids almost died when playing? Was that woman´s hoop "the only safely situated"? Why didn´t people just turn the whole thing around, facing the other way?
This is a really bad situation. If you ask papers having gun in your hand, they must have "permission to shoot" you, don´t they?
It is interesting that only one special type was almost forbidden. Created market for other types?

The hoop was placed on city property. The street to the sidewalk is an easement and owned by the city. Obviously the owner and many others do not know this. But the owner was given an order of compliance and failed.
If I parked my car on an easement, the city would put a note on the car with a time to have the car removed, if the car is not removed in time alotted, it will be towed.

I thought it was messed up that the lady lied and said he could keep it, and then took the pole. why make someone come and get it? ANd also, if people are responsible for keeping that portion shoveled of snow and the grass cut, then i don't know if the state has that right. If it is the state's property, then the state should have to shovel the snow and cut that grass

@LiquidSmooth It's simple. The owner was telling everyone that they were doing something wrong. The woman didn't like the fact that he simply didn't sut up, comply and obey so she took the pole.

Think about it, what is "City property"? A= property of the people in that city.
So you're justifying some people taking the property of others basically.
They said that Pole was there for 60 years.....So was it there before or after it became "the property of those that "control" the city?
Since that Pole was on city property, all members of the city have access to it, So how can some guy/girl at the top "order" it to be taken away from the people of the city?

@geekstreat ok not trying to argue but that basketball pole was there for 60 years what happened to being a grandfather law as in 60 years there was never a problem until some one dropped a dime and did you hear it was not everyones basketball poll just certain folks in the neighborhood who got theirs pulled up can u say discrimination sorry I understand easement law but the city knew of this being there for 60 YEARS so please don't try and be all up with city workers and dirty cops

@showmemoblues Not up with dirty cops, just calling it as I see it. As far as the other confiscated hoops, Im going assume that those were in the street and not on private property. Our rights are being violated on a daily basis, I just dont think this is a good example.

The police & government are held together by a glue of false unity...MONEY! When the money runs out even cops, military & politicians will be cut throat amongst themselves. These civil servants are only taking orders & following them through because their corporate masters paid their bills. Its important for people to form some ties with like minded people.

The people that really astound me are the ones flying the planes that are spraying the chemtrails. don't they realize they are posioning their own families?
We have no moral compass, or very few do. I once found a cell phone, went home and waited for the owner to call. When he did it was late in the evening and I told him I would meet him anywhere he wanted the next day. He called the cops and sent them to my house and wanted me arrested for refusing to return his cell phone!!
