There is no more New Orleans. New Orleans died with integration. Today's New Orleans is nothing more than a very dangerous misplaced African Village. They should rename it Bwana Junction.
as much as i LOVE this video and LOVE this song - it always sticks out that it says "2009 Vince Vance" even though he's talking about the 2010 oil spill and the Saints Super Bowl XLIV Victory. In my mind it's not a mistake - I like to think Vince saw it allllll coming.
Along with Jimmy Buffett's "Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On" this is one of the BEST Katrina tributes I have ever seen or heard. Thanks, Vince, for being New Orleans and helping the rest of us remember that we are, too! Right on, brother!

Thanks Vince. Good to see you are still working your genius...from an old friend and former Valliantette. You still got it baby! That was a beautiful work of art.
@Chrliesangelsman Have you ever heard "DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO MISS NEW ORLEANS"? recorded by Fats Domino, Harry Connick Jr. and Pete Fountain just to name a few. Sure would sound funny to sing "DO YOU KNOW WHAT IN MYNNS TO MISS NEW OR-LYNNS"!!!
As Fats would say, "I'm walkin to New Or-lynns"...but Vance, I definitely forgive you for calling it New Or-leans...it makes for a good rhyme, but being a native, its like calling crawfish, crae-fish....when we know they are craw-fish!!
@robyngt21: New "Or-Lynns" is the correct way....... Not New "Or-Leens"...... When I say that some natives also pronounce it "new-ah-lins" I am indicating more of an ACCENT than improper pronunciation. I HAPPEN TO KNOW FOR A FACT, it is "New Or-Lynns" since I was born, raised, and STILL LIVE in Louisiana.
What an awesome tribute to an amazing city, from one of its favorite sons. Vince, once again you have captured the emotions of a time and place and set them to music. Well done!!!

I am not ANGRY that he pronounces it wrong, but you seem ANGRY that I have point it out. Why? I think ppl from Delaware would point it out if 1 of their cities were pronounced incorrectly.

@Chrliesangelsman That comment wasn't up when I posted my reply two hours ago. At least not the one I think you're talking about. I first saw you with the Valiants when i was 12. I don't want to tell you how old I am now! LOL! I still love you, dawlin', now more than ever! This is beautiful! It's timeless.
Vince, you gave me and my friends lots of joy in our teens - so much so that we formed our own band, Major Moses and the Ten Commandos! BUT - this is the best! Thank you, brother, from the bottom of the hawts of all of us who "are New Orleans."
Dear Vince...Ah cher -- YOU 'are" New Orleans ...but you speak to the hearts of many with your gift here. Your work of love (obviously) brings us "in touch" that "I am" as are others --"her= New Orleans." Dear Vince...Ah cher -- YOU 'are" New Orleans ...but you speak to the hearts of many with your gift here. Your work of love (obviously) brings us "in touch" that "I am" as are others --"her= New Orleans." THEM who say --forgettabout her...yeah,?? they say "she lives below sea level" --crazy to protect and save her.. WELL "who dat sayin dat? WHO dat?" l SHE ain't goin' nowhere... She's strong in HER history, HER "archa-tecture",HER food --and HER music. "SHE" is me.and "I" am her ,xoVince
