  • Why not G2 coated for the snare?

  • Sound too rubbery.

  • Yeah..... I'm not hearing a lot of resonance from the toms. Punch and definition, yes, but resonance... no. A little on the top tom, but that's about it.

  • Remo is better!!!!!!

  • Evans does make an unbelievable product, your drums sound great!

  • I recently bought evan's drums heads g2 for my new tama drum set...they are awesome.....

  • G1 coated? or clear for reso?

  • @10PKOR24 nvm video answered me xD

  • Jared, are the G1's not made for a batter head purpose or are they for use on either side of the drum? Thanks.

  • @StandoftheFallen The yhave batter and resonance heads

  • drum stuff is soooooooooo expensive

  • wich mics u use

  • why not REMO ?

  • @JoshTinkler cuz he likes evans more? lol It's all personal preference. :)

  • What tom mics are used in this video?

  • What a nice guy.

  • do u like remo

  • what about the bottom of your snare drum?

  • @Likestodrum334 It's a Evans Hazy. It's in the description.

  • any chance you could do a recording just with like some room mics so we can hear more what they are like if they weren't dont so nicely in the eq and stuff :D

  • @iFinkable

R u using the Evans g1 resonant heads along with the g2 batters?

  • im getting bass skins these today! so exited!!waitied a long time for these bass skins!!

  • i'm on a boat

  • he does have aDWWWWWWWWWWWW,

  • @iFinkable tune your drums

  • Hey Jared, I've been playing drums for a few years now and I do have the Evans coated G2's on all my toms. Yours sound great but when I'm playing they have a deep echo and not a very distinctive sound when you hit them. What do you recommend? Is there anything I'm doing incorrectly?

  • im personally more of a remo guy, but sometimes evans heads just sound better. its more fun to mix brands up anyways

  • EC2-FTW!!!

  • thats the perfect thing about drumming though...it doesnt matter what u use its ur own sound and if u like it your not wrong...i have remo pinstripes on my heads and they work for me...if you wanna use something else thats fine by me :)

  • what about ec2 clears?

  • The 10" Tom sounds a little dead compared to the rest..

  • How did you get them to endorse you? I really love Evans heads and use them on 2 kits that I play.

  • Comment removed

  • I would try out the heads you have, but I need to save my money to get new cymbals and I have great heads at the moment (Remo Powerstroke 3's). Though when I can I'll definitely try them out!

  • Evans G2s are also $5-15 less expensive than remo powerstroke coated :D

  • i just bought an emad and it sounds amazing its like having a new bass

    drum !!!

  • Can You tell me which sounds do You tune Your drums to? Thanks in advance!

  • your an amazing drummer! thanks for helping me out with everything! your a GREAT teacher have a blessed day =)

  • Brann Dailor + Napoleon Dynamite = Jared Falk

  • OK, Jared, here's a question I have that I've never seen anyone else ask.

A lot of people complain about how putting a bass drum kick patch on one's bass drumhead creates a clicking sound when the beater connects to the surface of the head. So I wondered, would the patch still work if applied to the inside of the head (in the same spot the beater would hit on the other side of the head) without the "click" created by the beater hitting the patch?

    Thanks in advance!

  • @obnoxiousagnostic16 I doubt it would work the way it was intended. But if you have felt beaters on your pedal, it shouldn't make a clicking sound. It would just give it a little bit more of an attack. Jared could probably answer it better than I can.

  • @RedSandStudios Well, I've still got a while to wait before a new bass drum head, so I'll see if he does reply. But thanks for the input, I'll keep that in mind.

  • They sound great i personallly don't like coated heads on my toms probably because i never attempted use them but if i were these would be the 1s i wuld try out first

  • Gretsch Catalina Maple sets come standard with Evans Genera G1 Coated on the tom batter sides and I think Ambassadors on the Reso sides. They are stamped "Gretsch" but if you look just under the logo you will clearly see "Evans".

  • I request that Evans create the "Evans ST Kick" bass drum head. Hehe.

  • Nice vid man. It seems I'm really diggin the sound that evans gives over Remo. What are you using for the reso side of your toms?

  • :DD i love evans, pretty much the same set-up as you except i use G2's, the clear E-Mad 2 and the reverse dot snare head, havent gotten enough money to buy a snare side head though :/ but i love your shirt :D

  • I recently bought Remo's powerstroke 4 and they seem to go down too fast, I used Evans G2 coated before on my snare and it held up for over a year and I hit pretty hard

  • does the sound also depends on the drum kit, like if it's in maple? or just the drum head alone, like if you're using EVANS?

  • that 10" sounds the best

  • Bro i Love your videos great stuff

  • These drums would sound 1000 times better if the mics were positioned correctly!!!!

  • i tired these evans before. there pretty good although not any better sounding then my remos.

  • you mentioned you have good mics, what mics are you using?

  • i watched a 6minute long commercial??

  • On the toms, are the batter heads tuned higher than the resonant heads? Are they identical? Are the resonant heads higher than the batter heads? Thanks.. Please reply

  • Yea I love the Evans G2 and EC2 and my kit sounds great and No e rings or tap I love how they make my drums sound and feel!

    ~Brandon

ps. Jardedwhat do you think about the Evans EMAD Coated Bass Batter Drumhead ?

  • Just ordered these drum heads for my whole set comes in about a week cant wait! ordered them from music friend.com awesome sit and i saved alot! i order the exact head's as yours I hope there awesome!

  • sorry guys. just a noob question. when you buy a drumhead package. does it come with the reso heads as well? thanks!

  • @volk5wag3n no dude, u have to buy 2 pack's... but, reso heads are not expensive as batter head ;) cheers form Mexico .

  • I'M ON A BOAT!!

  • do they sound like that in real life or is it just the mics?

  • What Hazy Snare reso head are you using (Hazy 200, Hazy 300, Hazy 500 etc.)?

  • I've played Aquarian for quite awhile Jared... kinda curious about Evans though. Have you ever played Aquarian? and what you reckon on any differences between them? Thanks! :-)

  • EVANS GIVES HIM HEAD! LOL!

  • nice sound! I like it!

  • whats up drum compressors lol.

  • is this just the evans ST dry or the evans ST dry coated?

  • What was the fill at 0:07

  • i always knew those were good heads, cause John Dolmayan uses it =D!!!

  • its not just the heads its your skill that makes them sound so good

  • Sennheiser E604's on the toms?

  • sennheiser e604's on the toms???

  • sennheiser e604's on the toms???

  • What pitches/intervals do you tune your toms to?

  • i bet they resonate like 100 times longer without mics ;)

  • So when are you sending me your drumset? I think you forgot

  • The EVANS drumheads have a great acoustic sound?? :)

  • Your Evans sponsor check is in the mail - enjoy ;)

  • @nidmight106 No it's not...I don't get paid to endorse them. I endorse them because I love the way my drums sound with their heads.

  • @jaredfalk dude you should be getting paid because of all of the publicity that you give them as well as pastie... I love those cymbals they are so awesome.

  • @jaredfalk dude you should be getting paid because of all of the publicity that you give them through your videos, as well as pastie... I love those cymbals they are so awesome.

  • @jaredfalk Well they should send you a check because I purchased a set based on your recommendation and they do sound amazing! Thanks!

  • @jaredfalk rofl, shut him down :D

  • @jaredfalk jared i while ago you made a video with you and dave and you said "i have gibralter direct drive, axis and iron cobras" why do you use all three) i see you use speed cobras also sometimes, and nice vid helped loads like always

  • @jaredfalk gotta love all your t-shirts

  • They sound great. My upgrades from stock heads are Remos, and I can't say I'm impressed. I think I'll pick up some Evans this time around!

  • I actually wanted to steal a Paiste Signature 18" Medium Crash from my school yesterday but i decided to return it soon after i took it off the stand... Goddamn, good kit anyways Jared :)

  • im about to buy evans g2 coated tom heads but looking for snare head to my toms seem to pick up alot of snare ring what snare head would u recommened

  • Hey Jared, i have an evans ec2 (clear) tom head on the batter side and im wondering what resonant drum head should i use?

  • Your kit sounds great, but it wouldn't sound half as good without mics and your sound engineers and so on. I'm remo heads all the way I'm afraid

  • @heavymetal999 It actually sounds just as good acoustically without the mics. I know this because I play them without mics almost every day. I like the consistent and a natural sound that Evans heads give me so I'm Evans all the way :)

  • THATS A NICE SOUNDING TOMS!!!!! how about i put evans g2 on other drums that have a lower gain compared than DW drums? still have a great sound like that? sorry for my bad english

  • hey man nice vid, except ur on a seat playing the drums, not on a boat lol !!!!

  • Hey Jared, what do you feel about hydraulic heads on the batter and a G1 coated on the resonant?

  • on my toms i have g2 coated on bottom and g1 clear on tom

  • I still don´t understand this concept: warmer, how warmer sounds?. lower? brighter?

  • you have convinced me jared to change my heads cant wait to see and hear the difference in my kit. especially now seeing your video.

  • what´s the difference between clear and coated?, it´s only appearance or makes big difrence in sound. Can you put a vid on this?

  • @gjrestrepom Sound-wise, coated heads are warmer than clear heads.

  • Hi Jared, i just put some clear Evans G2s on my tom toms (yamaha 9000 recording custom) not really getting a great sound out of them, i havent replaced the bottom heads yet, is it going to make a big difference to the overall sound with fresh reso heads or is my tunning skills in need of attention...HELP!

  • As I can understand, you prefer Evans to Remo but can you explain what makes Evans so much better than Remo because you can get the same warm sound from Remo ones.

  • Jared, I'd love to hear what mics you use for your setup and why you don't use a drum rack. Thanks, man! Still loving my Casey drums I got from ya!

    Chris

  • Do they sound good for live performance?

  • Thanks so much for this video Jared. I learn so much from you. Those drums are awesome! I just bought the dw performance series drums, and this video was golden!

  • How long have you been using the batter heads? My cousin hasevans g1 coated but its worn out.

  • Thank you Jared for these videos about your kit. I think it wuld be highly interesting with a video about mics, genereal recording equipment AND sound processing/mixing/mastering/EQ-ing etc.

  • There is sooo much EQ on these drums. I want to hear the raw mic audio, straight from the mic to the computer.

  • @metalliclark how do you know? I'm sure your not the one who mixed this. And from personal experience with recording and mixing I can say that those sound like just natural drums with no effects. The reason they sound so good is hes using great quality stuff all around.

  • i like remo heads sorry i never liked evans

  • Jared. Your dw is beautiful and sounds amazing! would you mind telling me the specs? color, wood choice? a couple sizes? thank you very much.

    -Clint

  • Given what Bob Gatzen and the Evans corp. are doing right now I don't understand why anyone would stay with Remo...

  • Try Aquarian heads!

  • Whar kind of mics do you use on your drums?

  • What happpened to casey drums? i thought you were sponsored/endorsed by them?

  • @raymandrums We have a couple studio kits from them, but I haven't gotten a custom kit made. I have owned my DW's for years now, I would have trouble giving them up and playing only one type of drum-set. Maybe one day though.

  • @jaredfalk Sweet.. im thinking about getting the new Dw performance series (money is an issue) :P .. have you tried one of them yet?

  • Hey Jared!

Your drum set is totally amazing! Personally I prefer Yamaha drums, but Paiste Signature is my dream! I also have few questions: why don't you use bass drum patch ? What is the double bass symbol (I mean something like "33BB34 bla bla") ?

Will you also present your mics ?

  • @tomol012 I don't like the bass drum patches, they seem to fall off all the time. Not sure on the double bass cymbals or on all the mics.

  • @jaredfalk

Fall off? Dude, I can't even rip mine off lol.

  • @tomol012 Toms have Sennheiser e-604 and SM 57 on snare from what i see. Someone correct me if i'm wrong :)

  • What snare reso head are you using?

  • @CrashWanderer An evans hazy

  • @jaredfalk Evans Hazy 200 or 300?

  • What snare side head are you using?

  • As much as I would like to test Evans heads, they don't have mesh heads for my electronic drums!

However, never underestimate the quality of your mesh heads. My Roland drums came with mesh heads by Remo. I had to replace the snare head just recently and found a cheap head at my local drum store (1 layer). Although quieter then the Remo (2 layers) I never grew comfortable with the way it felt, no matter how I "tuned" it. Ended up returning it for the Remo, although tripling the price! YMMV!

  • I personally use Aquarian for the toms and bass . (Evans/Remo for the snares)

I have no problems with Evans, they also sound great.

  • hey Jared, I have a question.. Are you sponsored by Evans, or is it really 100% your own choice to use Evans?

  • Hey Jared,

I know you recommend Evans Ec2 Coated, but whats the difference between clear and coated? I was thinking about getting clear..

Also, I cant really afford new heads right now, (I was thinking of buying them in the future), so i was thinking about getting Evans E-Rings with my stock heads. Will they make my stock heads any better? (i have CB Drums)

Thanks Jared, YOUR THE BEST!! :D

  • @MonkeyMan214 I like coated as they give me a warmer sound with a little less attack and slap. Some may want more slap like if they're playing a lot of metal or really hard rock stuff.

  • @jaredfalk

Thanks!! Clear would be for me then :P

    What about Evans E-Rings.. ?

  • @MonkeyMan214 E-rings are great. As long as they don't buzz when you hit them...

  • @MonkeyMan214

Evans E-Rings are great if you want little to no overtones. One piece of moongel usually works for me.

  • how do you tune them to get a drier sound, that doesn't resonate as much, but has a clear sound? a little bit less resonating than your's?

  • @dancTDC I would tune them a little lower. If you crank them too tight then they're just gonna sing :) Also, you could dampen them a little if they needed it. Have you tried out the Evans EC2? Those might be a better fit for you if you want something drier.

  • @jaredfalk Thanks much. needed that :DD

  • @dancTDC Moongel. Just add Moongel

  • Do you have any questions about these drumheads? Also, if you'd like to discuss anything else that's drumhead related please comment below. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I am honoured that you watch the video, thanks SO much for all your support!
