Her mum wasn't evil. She just never understood how real their love was. To her they were young and naive and she didn't want Noah to intterupt the plans for ally's life. If I was to turn down my education for a guy at a young age my mum would go crazy as well. But you see when her mum notices them later in life and how strong their relationship is she almost encouraged her to go back.
