we used to watch Channel 1 news each morning at school. its funny because i rememberAnderson being on that show, but nobody else does. i was in the 7th grade.
I remember Channel One did a lot of international reports like this. The ones I remember the most are Janet Choi's miniseries on weapons of mass destruction in South Korea and Derrick Shore's report on life in Cuba.
It's unclear why he doesn't have a first name. However, I heard that the Coopers avoid using first names like: Chris, Edward, or Dick. For example, Anderson's brother's name is Jefferson Cooper. His parents wanted their kid's names to sound like law firms.
@deliciousmorton Anderson's brother was named Carter Vanderbilt Cooper, he's the one that killed himself and he also has two older half brothers named Leopold and Christopher Stokowski
@Austinbeef I stand corrected. Yes, Anderson's brother is named Carter. But back to what I was initially saying; the Coopers don't give their children first names. They give their children last names as first names. Carter Vanderbilt Cooper still sounds like a law firm.
I used to love watching channel 1. I can remember looking forward to watching it everyday. We had a few teachers who thought of it as a waste of time. I must say that in most classes I learned more watching this program than I did listening to our teachers tell us the same thing that they did every year. "George Washington was the 1st president, 1+1=2". It was refreshing to learn something NEW, even if it was coming from that abomination they call T.V.

I remember that! He was always reporting from a battle zone or the center of a hurricane or something. He's definitely earned his stripes.
