It is a philosophical question you can pose to them but they will get stuck in the a circular-fallacious logic with "God said so because it said so in the Bible because god said so because it says right here in the Bible that god says so" (or in my case almost exclusively the Book of Mormon).
I'll give you an example of the question that got my mother, a lifelong LDS member, devout as they come-granted my brother's homosexuality-
-My dad's agnosticism (although in reality he is a closet atheist but he still describes himself as an agnostic), me becoming an atheist and anti-theist (huge difference between the two but you have to be an atheist to be an anti-theist, it's like a more extreme version of atheism, I believe that religion should be wiped out-not the people, just theism as a whole)-etc, that had something to do with her faith getting shaken. In the end I posed many questions but one got her and that was:
"Why is the Book of Mormon written in the style of 15th century Olde English?" (granted, I posed it much more articulately), I apologize for rambling, I have aspergers and am a tad stoned and wired, tired, over-caffienated and stimulated :P. Anyway, she finally conceded that theism (Which I'd be curious what kind of theist you are because it seems by the nature of your question you'd be more of a deist, imo)-that it cannot debated with logic. Which ended our decade-long debate for me.
Just like TJ (far more eloquently and eye-openingly amazing) argued here in this vid, she was using the "he is outside of nature outside of blah blah blah" argument and when I posed the my side of the debate which is the same premise in this video she conceded. I think any theist would have to concede that you can't debate a non-falsifiable claim, that using god-of-the-gaps logic has failed with 100% consistence in the face of scientific study. That is the big nail in the coffin for theism.

It is a philosophical question you can pose to them but they will get stuck in the a circular-fallacious logic with "God said so because it said so in the Bible because god said so because it says right here in the Bible that god says so" (or in my case almost exclusively the Book of Mormon).

Just like TJ (far more eloquently and eye-openingly amazing) argued here in this vid, she was using the "he is outside of nature outside of blah blah blah" argument and when I posed the my side of the debate which is the same premise in this video she conceded. I think any theist would have to concede that you can't debate a non-falsifiable claim, that using god-of-the-gaps logic has failed with 100% consistence in the face of scientific study. That is the big nail in the coffin for theism.
