  • I've watched it, now I can't un-watch it. God help us all

  • Always been proud to be a Geordie. Now..., not so sure.

  • This is a disgraceful waste of time and money. How, exactly, is a DVD of the talentless and tone deaf of Newcastle going to make any money for charity?

  • Well as a geordie ex pat. i do quite like it.

  • Genius! People need to pipe down! Also the proceeds from the DVD will go towards Children in Need.

  • A massive part of me has just died watching this, what an embarrassment!

  • @crotchsniffa with a name like yours I doubt this video is the sole source of your embarassment.

  • @Sleepichick it actually is the sole source of my embarrassment, and sleepichick is a good name? pipe down pet!

You see me going to byker to roam on the streets,

you see me at Whitley lying on the beach,

you might see me at central catching a train,

or at St James watching the game,

I've got a little yellow ticket encase they check us,

the charves run away from inspectors,

I,m on the metro all of the time you won't catch me with no twenty pound fine.

  • This makes me proud to be from the north east. I love the metro, Some may tease me, some may not like me, I don't care, I love trains. In fact I have even driven a metro and a work on the north tyneside steam railway association.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA oh my fucking god

  • that was.. an experience..

  • It's going to take me ages to get over this... ages.

  • i have heard of the weird side of youtube but this is another level

  • I remember seeing this on TV! This video just reminds me how shocking the whole production of this is..... The music is terrible and lyrics.

  • wow so this is what the rip off fair has funded. thought it was a joke when i heard about it and i still think its a joke now.

  • why on earth am i still watching this?

  • bloody hell. i'll never use metro again. AND IM A BLOODY RAIL ENTHUSIAST.

  • I feel ashamed to be a Geordie. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Fucking hell.

  • 0:59 Did anyone else think she was holding a flute?

  • OH MY GOD.

  • Thumbs up if you watch this for Alan Partridge style kicks.

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit. shit.

  • :-----O

  • Officially the worst use of autotune I have ever heard. Black Eyed Peas and Kanye West must be devastated.

  • wow, that was fucking gay

  • i can't wait for this to go viral...

  • judging by the comments... this is far from alreet...

  • Good lord.

  • Wait what the hell did I just saw

  • Because of Tom >:D

  • oh my god, i always defended the tv license up until now, but this is inexcusable. BRING ON THE CUTS

  • you like this, you need help. Seriously. Is this culture in the north east?

  • My tuppence worth: I'm Geordie and proud of it, but this is horrendous. How about remaking a better one please Nexus/DB/BBC. By the way, the best ever part of the metro line was the stretch between Walkergate and Chillingham road, from the years 1986 to 1993. Also Hadrian Road to Wallsend too.

  • To much money fbtp

  • BBC Newcastle's Tyne and Wear Metro The Musical won a silver award in the community category at the annual Gillard awards. (BBC Newcastle won Station of the Year too!) Don't forget you can still buy the DVD with proceeds going to Children in Need! Well done everyone involved.

  • NOT A WASTE OF MONEY EXCELLANT

  • I LOVE IT

  • GREAT STUFF

  • I do not care what anyone else says this is ten minutes of my life i will remember for ever this even won an award well done!!

  • Wasting licence payers money on sterotypical nonsense..........UNBELIEVABLE ...

  • just LOL

  • From the director of Coventry Market the Musical. Sweet Jesus. How about Birmingham NCP Car Park the Musical?

It's terrible but soooo funny. Is the metro marketing director gay? First this then the pop cards (gay pride colours).

    Thanks for making me laugh

  • Im on Kirklees Youth Council (Yorkshire) and we went up to Gateshead to meet their youth council. We watched this and we love it haha.

  • Continued: I'm never going to get them back!!!

  • Are you aware that watching that utter pap has wasted nine minutes and thirty five seconds of my life... And iv

  • Last week I saw a man on the metro drinking a can of fosters at quarter to 8 in the morning.

  • Wow. I sincerely hope nobody outside the region sees this. What an embarrassment. Find me a Geordie that thinks this is a good thing and I'll show you the type of culturally retarded throwback we should be trying to hide from the rest of the world.

  • Added to my playlist 'comedy'

  • so this is why the metros have been suspended..

  • This is almost as good as Rebecca Black's Friday

  • Comment removed

  • I hope the BBC got permission from Nexus to film this.

  • Holy.Shit. That was so bad it kills Unicorns.

  • another crippling blow to the north eastern people's credibility

  • Three questions:

    1) How can people even begin to defend this utter regionally humiliating bilge?

    2) Who thought a musical about the metro, which is widely regarded as the worst form of public transport in the NE, was a good idea? Lets face it, the cunt hasn't made a profit in years!

    3) Why did the director find it necessary to cruise the pink triangle to assemble a cast?

  • This is amazing. Can't believe that 212 people have disliked it. It's cheesy, but who cares?

  • I honestly don't understand what all the annoyance is over. I was an exchange student in the Sunderland for about a week and absolutely loved it. It was so much better than America, and the disposition of the people was so much more welcoming that what it is here in America. I honestly don't see the embarrassment, this is awesome!

  • This is a good competitor, along with Geordie Shore, for the most embaressing/unnecessary thing to come out of Newcastle.

  • They seem to have missed all the other brilliant things about the metro system. The mentally ill, charvers, tramps, drunks, kids getting pissed and stoned and the occasional cheeky poke. Also - ''Famous mackem wit'', really?

  • I want to punch the majority of people in this video.

  • I'm shocked at The B.B.C wasting licence payers fees on a totally cringeworthy , piece of sterotypical television , regardless of the " fun and charity " angles , that people are using to support it . I really do hope this does not go national , as it just re affirms what the rest of the country thinks about the area .

  • "It's Alreet!"

  • A vainglorious orgy of burnt taxpayers' cash... Or what the guy below said.

  • This is the most bent thing I've ever seen in my life.

  • I like how they included people who couldn't sing to show diversity.....naaat :|

  • And now for the A167(M) musical. Remember the M stands for musical! *sigh*

  • LOOK EVERYONE! It's a community project, a bit of fun. Some people in this video are very talented and some young children took part. Would they like to be told-

    a) Well done for taking part!

or b) Ha ha you took part in a s*** musical!!!

Exactly. A. Accept it. Remember everyone who took part in this musical had great courage to appear in front of thousands.

  • @northeastbusrail You're right, they would like to be told A, that would be nice. But that's not the real world is it. People here are only expressing their true opinion of what they have just watched. The truth is an overwhelming majority of people evidently think this is an embarrassment to the North East and a waste of money. Things like this reinforce the bad opinion outsiders have of the region.

  • this is fucking sick.

I almost feel ashamed to be part of the north east, then i realize this is silly.

The people who put this together were probably drafted in from else where.

This should have never made it to screen. What is the council spending our money on ?!? Now we have 'Geordie Shore' to look forward to.

Nice one Newcastle, thanks a lot.

  • @boxedroomer too fuckin right man, im a geordie and this is fookin ridiculous

  • this is fucking sick.

Nice one Newcastle, thanks a lot.

  • Then the:

    Western Bypass Musical

    Angel of the North Musical

    Alan Shearer Musical

    I could go on....

  • This was not a bit of fun.... its a huge dollop of crap! We have much to be proud of in the north east and this is not one of those things.....

NEXT WE'LL HAVE THE SODDIN METRO CENTRE MUSICAL.....

  • It's very uplifting to see all these people enjoying themselves doing something fun and worthwhile. Excellent.

  • Hm...I like it! :D And why they did it, I also like it for that reason as well. 8DD

  • did she actually say 'sometimes you have to sit and just listen' to a blind person?

  • is this a joke?

  • This is the best video I have ever seen. I thought Michael Jackson's videos were great but now I've seen this, I'm amazed. I cannot believe this isn't getting played on all the satellite TV channels all over the world. Doesn't MTV know about this? The music does remind of the eighties. So much great music then like The Nolans and Saxon, The Goombay Dance Band. I'd love Benjamin Till to export some British class from the UK to places where they know nothing about music like Russia.

  • video direction:cheap songwriting:embarassing end result: incredibly entertaining! Really glad i saw this! H8rz need to chill out.

  • This is the worst thing I've ever seen

  • Absolute sh1te ! This is an embarrasment and should be removed. As for the person who wants to know where they can find the lyrics...... Look in the bin

  • i wonder what simon cowell would think of this

  • Anyone know where i can find the lyrics for this song? :)

  • 4:22 the guy in the black hat is fucking hilarious

  • In the baking heat and the drivers seat!

It's alreeeeet lol, this is terrible but so damn addictive... Replay

  • Interesting that all the critics have to swear. Belittles the argument. Good harmless fun. Terrible...but fun.

  • This is the worst thing I have EVER watched. What a waste of the tax payers money. This is ten minutes of my life I will never be getting back. I am ashamed to be from the North, I am ashamed to be from the North East, I am ashamed to be English, I am ashamed to have a computer.

  • @poo1y4eva

If it's so bad, why the hell did you watch till the end?

And, if you did watch till the end, you have only yourself to blame!

  • @p3rs0nan0ngrata its like how some people can't help looking at car crash victims

  • I'm pretty sure the north east had escalators in 1980.

  • Im From Tyne And Wear

  • Ashamed to be from the north east.......

  • @Dezzo090 i could actually tell you the north east is a great place it may look like a trampy place but if ur not from there then why would u be ashamed

  • @xTazzerz i am from the north east? hence, that's why i'm ashamed :')

  • I am watching this and wishing that I could have been there to take part. It has the thumbs up from me. OK then, I wonder if Benjamin Till would like to try something similar for Manchester Metrolink.

  • Honestly, what a load of cack

  • It sound like Bruce Springsteen's Dancing in the Dark...

  • so when they said they was fixing the metro for 3 weeks...what they meant was ,they was making this...lol...or is that just a coinsedence...haha

  • gives me shivers

  • Pause on 1:49 exactley.. Haha

  • 3:49 Anyone got her number? What a stunner! :D She's beautiful!

  • @razlindez hahahahahaha

  • You wont find me with a 20 pound fine.

  • T T T T T TYNE AND WEAR METROOOOOOOO

This has been stuck in my head for about 3 days. FML

  • 178 dislikes - says it all really.

  • EE why aye lyk this is wkd . big up thu norf east of england....cracin Vid

  • 5:09 the lass holding the rail looks like Becky's sister on Coronation Street..

  • Mackems only got the metro about 9 years ago, so they can fuck off out of this video

  • i realy don't understand why people are hating on this so much. it's fun, positive and shows a community's celebration for a public service. it's definitely not the sort of music i'd pay to listen to but that's really not the point is it? well done everyone involved : )

  • Comment removed

  • Haters gonna hate, creators gonna create, nuff said :P

  • @RichyWorld87 wankers say that

  • Yes, I understand that it shows Geordies and Mackems can have a bit of fun and do something for charity; but the thing is, it was all took so seriously. I remember watching clips on the news. It was portrayed as some amazing piece of music, with great singers and editing, and told the story of the Metro. I mean, they could have chosen better shots without graffiti or rubbish. And the lyrics are far too predictable. I agree that it's funny, but other parts are cringeworthy and not funny at all.

  • But the metro is so badly handled?! It's expensive, bsd seats, slow and it sometimes smells. Argh.Is this suppose to praise it?

  • Utter shit. Waste of lottery funding. I'm from Sunderland and I'm embarrassed.

  • Lyrics please!

  • Can someone please upload the lyrics to MTM?

I've watched the video several times - love it - and now I can't get the tune out of my head. It's driving me mad just singing 'M-M-M-M-M-Metro, subterranean Yoga...la la la la la Metro.' !!!! Cheers.

  • @CBLmater ditto

  • @CBLmater I think it's subterranean Yo-Yo rather than yoga, but my favourite line has to be either the splash of cadmium yellow and the wink from the girl who sings it or "primary colours and geometric lines intertwined underneath an iconic black and yellow sign". As for m-m-m-Metro, I find myself singing it too when I use Manchester's trams, which also happen to be yellow ;-)

  • @CelticPowerRanger. Hi, yes I can hear it now - subterranean Yo-Yo not yoga! What a twit I am! I fleetingly thought that perhaps all those girls in leotards did a yoga session on the Metro...?! The winking girl has the most stupendous voice - listen for her top 'C' near the end :-)

  • This is really crap

It just shows the genaral public how thick geordies can be

It dosent do Newcastle any good think guys the world we see this

  • @nylonTS I love it how you say "this" makes the geordie's look thick. We only need to look at your spelling and grammar to prove that you're the only one here that is thick as shit!

  • Brilliant community video celebrating a north east icon. I don't know why people have criticised it. Some of the comments have absolutely appalled me. If you don't like it, you don't have to watch it. They put a lot work into this and it needs to be celebrated.
