  • Fantastic tribute to the old '56 .I served from 84-87 after her refit and for the States trip a waste of a great ship when they decommissioned her.

  • Great video mate thank you for putting it together. I was a WE on Argonaut in the Falklands and often think about the 2 lads that didn't come back with us. Many thanks again for doing this.

    Robbie

  • Heroes everyone of you. I joined in '83, just missed the Falklands and I will never forget.

    Be proud.

  • Ex member of F56, left her late 1980. God Bless to al.

  • I served on HMS Intrepid in San Carlos with the Argonaut, i remember her stationed at the far end, knowing she had been badly damaged. A year later I was drafted to Argonaut, a fresh crew to bring her out of Refit after her repairs, and conversion.

proud to have served on both. Thanks for posting.

  • This bought back so many memories. I was a gunner on Argonaut 81 to 83. sitting here, tears running down my face, remembering Ian and Matt. RIP lads. still have loads of phots. may put them on facebook The lads of 3ea mess.

  • Thanks mate. I served on Argonaut 81 to 83. I am now sitting here with tears streaming down my face. I was looking through old photos a few weeks ago and came across some of Matt and Ian, as well as all the other old faces.

  • @56brush It was an honour do do this tribute to you men and boys.

I really mean that................whatever is done will never be enough......well done lads.

Your efforts and sacrifices will never be forgotten by many in this land of Britain & the Falkland Islands.

  • @56brush Good effort mate//Hang in there//

  • I too was on the Argonaut during the falklands ...we seemed to be the forgotten ship thanks for this ..I too am typing this with tears in my eyes .Youve done a great job ...Mathew and Ian gone but never forgotten

  • Naiad49: IF I can find them I have a number of photographs that may be of use to you.

  • @roobarb001 That would be much appreciated,I would love to see any photographs.

  • @roobarb001 OK, I will do some digging, it is a little while since they were last seen. Regards

  • Thank you Naiad49, this brings back a whole heap of memories. I was in Argonaut in 1982, mainly on the upper deck and so had a VERY good view of proceedings, not least looking DOWN into the cockpit of the Skyhawk that placed the bomb in the engine room. The tribute is excellent but there are some very serious errors in the official histories which nobody wishes to rectify. Ho hum, truth to the victors I suppose.

  • I served on this ship in the falklands 1982 i was in the boiler room .

This video made me cry some thing i didn't do then .

Remember the 56 and Mathew and ian

  • If I could shake your hand I would.

Bless all you Royal Navy lads.

  • Bravo Zulu "56". Proud to have known you.

  • As an ex Killick Stoker (Steam, though not a leander rating) videos like this make me so happy. Then I read the news, and wonder how the government of a proud ISLAND nation justifies the massive reduction in our maritime capability. I suppose our troops will just have to march through the chunnel next time we go to war...............

  • Pleased this tribute makes you happy.

    What were you on?

  • I was on Ashanti, Rothesay, Glasgow and Invincible. Gas was ok, but I loved the steam :)

  • Hi

I served on her for 3 1/2 years til back end of 1990

Think what you have done here is fantastic and a great Tribute to The Argonaut and those who lived and died on her.

    Thank you

    Paul Larcombe

  • Terrific video , portrays what the Royal Navy is all about ,

    Thanks for posting .

  • A great tribute to a great ship. i served on Argonaut for 4 years , well done for putting this together

  • Thanks for the positive comment.

Really means a lot to me coming from

    an ex-Argonaut.

You Royal Navy boys were the Best,no doubt in my mind.

  • Good video. No one should underestimete the bravery and commitment of the sailors of the RN

  • I will raise a Nelsons Blood to that comment.......Mr Spowsa.

  • Nearest thing left to a Leander in this country is the 'Type 12' HMS Plymouth.

Whats the score with the Falklands veteran.......?

I wish there was a Leander left......our history is sliding away....fast.

  • Fantastic ship, fantastic video,5 stars my old cock.
