that is because u dont instantiate the class A, instead u make a function prototype that return instance of class A

if you want to call the constructor, but

A inst;

works just fine :P

excellent presentation about the friend classes and the functions.. but i have a small doubt , you have created an instance and displayed in the cout statement as cout<<"intance.x" with private member is that will be ok to execute.... please let me know...

But since that's probably an error you made, that shouldn't work unless x is public instead of private
