  • Sounds like the drums in wild thang!!!!

  • There´s much more you could do my friend... you don´t have to trigger every sample but you´re having 6 minutes and youre only touching 4 potentometers. i mean why not use the nice keyboard ? ... i dont want to be rude its more a feedback thing ...

  • Hey, I was wondering. What layout are you using on the Akai Apc 40? I have one myself.. but i lost the midilayout.. any way you could email it to me?

    Thanks, AfroGab

By the way the breakdown at around 1.20 is amazing!

  • great mix ! :) that mpk looks like a great piece of equipment

  • What's up! Great video!... what do you have mapped on the keyboard's knobs. One question... do you Sync or Map your APC40? I usually map mine, cuz i don't really use a lot of the stuff that comes with sincyng. great video!

  • whats the part over the apc 40 ?

  • @k1ll3r58Robin It's an Access Virus TI desktop synth. Cheers!

  • again and again I sure that APC40 is best thing for Ableton live) for live performance

  • @ManivOleg Agreed!

  • was idt dieses ding unter dem bildschirm?

  • @k1ll3r58Robin Sorry mate, I only speak English.

  • @DJVespers Google translate can be a savior with questions like that one

  • @Quiggers1981 yeah but still it doesn't make sense to ask questions in german on a video with a english description. It's just ignorant. The german dude is suposed to use google translate.

  • @DJVespers what is this thing under the monitors?

  • @k1ll3r58Robin Access Virus Desktop Synth

  • truely inspirational stuff! Will definitely be purchasing an APC40 controller very soon.

  • hi this is awesome ur really good may i ask what parameters youre controlling with the akai keyboard? can u assign what effects u want to control using the knobs? why not just use the apc? thanks!

  • @rawfflecakes It's an audio effects rack with all kinds of devices. I explain it in my Glitch Secrets tutorial. Check it. You could use the APC40 or the MPK25 in this situation. Either one is good. Cheers!

  • awesome mix mate. im just starting to learn the apc

  • Hey, what monitors are those?

  • @snorklebort35 mackie hr824s

  • could you have used the mpd32 instead of the mkp25?

  • @BradRamsay Yep, for sure.

  • this is such a good song!!!

tell me dude, how long did it take you to get this good?

  • @BradRamsay Thanks mate! I've been at this about 7 years.

  • @CollosusXC Sweet! Thanks mate.

  • nice!

i love those mackies. what is the knoby thing hidden behind the apc?

are you playing anywhere? your stuff is good!

  • @xbuster17 Cheers! I play on the West Coast of Canada, but I'm mostly a studio hermit these days makin beats.

  • @xbuster17 Oh, and the thing behind the APC is an Access Virus TI desktop synth.

  • @DJVespers omg thats about $2000 (Access Virus TI desktop) :O nice studio m8

  • good stuff man! what monitors are those?

  • @danlar84 Mackie HR824s.

  • Nice vid man! What were you controlling with those knobs on the mpk25? One sounded like it was definitely filter but wasn't sure bout the others. I had a bit of a hard time figuring out what was going on cause you've got a lot of different components working together here Dope beat btw.

  • @revenantprime Thanks mate. The knobs are mapped out to an audio effects rack running a bunch of effects. See my glitch secrets tutorial for a description. Cheers!

  • You are a genius! keep up the good work.

  • Man you are incredible and so you ... been sat looking through all your stuff ... so inspirational man ... great work :) i might start putting some of mys stuff on youtube :) soo good ... :) what plug-ins do you use to get those synths and vocals ... :) thanks for sharing you work man keep it uppp ... and keep going mate you good release an album with this stuff i would certainly buy it :)

  • @ToldYouImGood Thanks mate! Youtube is rad. The synths are mostly Sugarbytes Unique and then a Sampler for the wobble. The vocals are samples, but messed about with in Battery for time stretching. Cheers!

  • incredible!!!

  • @gix10000 Cheers!

  • Thats very nice

    good job!

  • @rubin069 Muchos gracias.

  • sick as

  • @Quinny6The9Warrior Cheers mate!

  • Dubstep? sounds more like acid to me....

  • @realcoolking95 Fair comment. That's why I said dub step-"y", as in dub step "ish". Is that even a word?

  • niiice !:D

  • @DaBossSopot Cheers!

  • I have the Akai MPK 25 to, it's a nice keyboard to work with. Nice mix btw.

  • @DJVespers How long have you been making music? Ive been using ableton for about 6 months.... please check out my beats if u got a moment.. i need some feedback!!

  • @DJVespers Search Low Frequency Output!

  • @Darktr00per666 Hey mate. I've been makin beats for about 7 years now. Congrats on getting into Live. You'll love it. The best way to have my check out your beats is to slap a track in my Soundcloud drop box. Cheers!

  • @DJVespers Cool cool will do, how do i get to your drop box

  • @Darktr00per666 Sweet. You just go to my site, then click on Soundcloud. Cheers!

  • @DJVespers Aight man i sent it to your soundcloud!

  • nice set up. What is the piece underneath the monitors?

  • @22inMotion Thanks. It's an Access Virus TI desktop synth. Cheers!

  • @Darktr00per666 Thanks mate!

  • @DJVespers

good job bro. i would love to see u preform live like this in concert. unique sounds and complex equipment. much respect. greatjob

  • @QuantumLX18 Thanks mate. I love gear, for sure. I perform mainly on the West Coast at the moment. If you're up this way, hit me up. Cheers!

  • love the melody it should be in a car commercial or somthing!!! hahaha

  • love the melody it should be in a car commercial or somthing!!!

  • How do you organize all your chopped up tracks, samples and etc?

  • @balli2195 I align them in scenes that correspond to how the tune progresses. Scene 1 is minimal, scene 2 builds a bit etc. That way, if you want, you can just launch scenes instead of all kids of clips.

  • really nice tune man, keep it up!!!!!!!!

  • Hi mate! I'm buying a MPK25 and i need to know its size so i can check if it fits my backpack because im planning to use it live. could u please do me this favor and measure it for me? thanks a lot, ur videos are great.

  • @alyssohm Just look on the Akai Pro website dude. Or drop into a music store and check one out. Cheers!

  • I've been fighting with myself about whether or not to get the APC40. It seems like a great control but my live set is mostly just spinning full tracks, crossfading and adding effects. The APC seems to require hours of chopping up songs into "clips" to trigger them live. is that true? or would it be beneficial for just playing tracks as well? any help is appreciated.

  • @MetechStudios949 Yeah, cutting up clips is time consuming for sure. I use a lot of loops and such from sample packs to avoid this. Although, you can definitely use Live to play completed tracks. You still need to spend time warping them, but that's a lot faster than cutting them up. If you want to see a fast warping technique, look up my #1 Power Warping Technique (it'll show up on Youtube). Cheers!

  • Do you have all pluged in via USB ?

  • @gosu1234 Yeah, pretty much all the peripherals are USB. Cheers!

  • Hey man, I'm kind of new to the whole dubstep/ dnb production thing, I've been trying to use my computer and a simple midi keyboard to get things together but its just not cutting it. I was wondering if you could comment on how it'll be getting the apc40 working with regards to ease of use/ ease of launching to compose something that actually sounds like a song haha.

  • @RedForLife11 The APC40 is a dream. Love the thing. You don't "need" one for production, but it certainly helps. I only use mine for live shows. The APC40 just plugs in and works so for ease of use, full points!

  • Respond to this video...

  • @RedForLife11 ?? Did I miss a comment or something? Respond to what? Cheers!

  • @RedForLife11 the old quote "some of the best music has been made with the worst equipment, and some of the worst with the best" comes to mind here. If your new to the production side of things, Studying lots will do a lot more for you than a new controller. Production is an artform, theres no quick route to it through a piece of hardware of vst. Stick to it mate and you'll get there :-)

  • @justonefix2626 cheers! :D... encouragement en lieu of being a youtubes douche is always a nice thing haha. Mum/dad/aunt/uncle/sister actually pulled a fast one on me and got me one for my birthday just the other day so I've got the APC40 and an lpk25 now :D.

  • Nice track. Really cool stuff. I'm interested in your monitors. Could you give me some adive, which monitors to buy?

  • @WretchedArt Thanks for the comment! By "monitors" do you mean the LCD screens or the studio reference monitor speakers? I assume the speakers. Make sure you get 8" so they reproduce deeper bass. Smaller won't cut it unless you have a sub. Even if you get 8", get a sub if you have the cash. I like the Mackies, but the HR824s are discontinued. You could find some used on eBay. Cheers!

  • @DJVespers Yeah I meant the studio monitor speakers. mackie is pretty expensive. don't have that much money at the moment, but thanks for your advice mate. cheers!

  • @WretchedArt Ah, k, cool. For more budget, check out the KRK Rockits. Good stuff.

  • @DJVespers thanks for advice again ;) cheers mate ;)

  • Are you using the MacBook Pro on the left to run Ableton and routing Ableton to the screens? I ask because Mac's make it so easy to do this and I enjoy being able to use a bigger monitor as well.

  • @peaceguru84 Hey mate. Actually, all the sound and video are running from a Mac Pro tower underneath the desk. The Macbook is just recording audio, although it could run the screens too. Cheers!

  • Is the MPK knobs custom mapped?

  • @evanhunterblbier Yes, the MPK knobs are mapped to macros on an audio effects rack that I designed in Live.

  • i have prackt the same setup... cool... dual monitors too with HD. This setup also works great for live performance with the MPK25 to add on the fly live music addition, kill the wheels

great to use the knobs on both for more controls... MPK is brilliant!!! APC is magic.

  • what is the best editing software to use do you reackon?

i have only been using garage band for the past couple of months and been really getting into but there is only so much i can do with it and my keyboard. MKP-25 should i get one or would that be too advanced for me?

  • I just recorded the X80 debut album with Reason 4, Ableton Live 8 suite and Cubase. Pretty much everyone in electronica uses Cubase or Logic or Pro Tools for record / master / edit. I build song compositions in Reason and Live, then record in Live with an APC40 controller, then master in Cubase.

  • Nice!

The MIDI look so organized and clean...

How did you get them without any other sound? Bough it or produced them?

I want to buy an APC-40, but don't know what to expect from it.

It is dificult to organize all the MIDI?

What if I wanted to mix some musics like, for example, Crystal Method and Paul Oakenfold.

It would be kinda difficult to extract some parts of the songs to organize them like MIDI...

Can you make a lot of presets, save them and easily switch between them for a +1h live set?

  • This is one of my original tracks, so all the clips you see are midi or audio that I've produced.

As for the APC40, it's a dream. I love the thing. I think what you're referring to by "midi" are actually audio clips that you see in the clip slots. If you want to build a set, it's very easy to patch together bits and pieces of completed tracks or vocals by using the looping function in clip view. I will sometimes loop a vocal section from one clip over the beats from another.

  • APC is like a full DJ controller setup, total control of ABleton Live Can do everything you said and more. Cross fade tracks or trigger your own compositions clips for live performance, record with it, etc etc you got to get one if you use live.

  • what is that under the monitor on the right?

  • @Huwzo It's an Access Virus TI desktop synth :)

  • @DJVespers holy fudgeknockers you have one of those... your set up is a dream. this is a dope track. i got a couple other questions for you too.. i'll message you later when i get home from campus.

  • do you use any templates for apc with Ableton from nativeKontrol?

  • No, I've never tried them out. Do you like them? I've never looked into them because I just custom program all my stuff and I use a lot of audio effects racks and now getting into dummy midi clips.

  • nice man

  • Are the knobs on the APC limited or not? Like, do they keep turning or they have a stop?

  • They're limitless. They just keep turning. They light up to show you where the dial is at. Cheers!

  • Sweet!

  • perfect !

    i love your tune :-)

  • Nice !!!!

    ChiLL !

    peace

  • Phat beats !! like it man!

  • " 2 more questions,....what is that black device with all the knobs and the blinking light on it, under the 2nd shelf that all your monitors are on? What's the other device to the right of the black 1, above the APC40? "

  • The one under the monitors is an Access Virus TI desktop synth, and to it's right is a Liquid Mix from Focusrite. BTW, NEVER buy a damn Liquid Mix. It's the biggest piece of garbage I've ever used. Total waste of money. Paperweight. Haha.

  • " Good to know! Thanx for the feedback! "

  • What kind of keyboard, (the one with the letters ) is that? it's white but your rockin a dell visual screen system.

  • It's a Mac usb keyboard (the one for typing, I assume). Although I'm using Dell monitors, my production system that they're connected to is actually a Mac Pro tower, hence the Mac keyboard ;) It's a 2 x Intel quad core Xeon machine.

  • rocks dude

  • @ justnpace, TheOaOCannie, freddy247247 - thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. Thanks for watching!

  • yeah this session rocks!! keep on..

  • Respect!

  • woah nice setup man, how're things connected up cos i notice you have a macbook on the left and i guess a desktop elsewhere cos i can see the keyboard and the 2 monitors must be linked to something other than the macbook.

  • Hey. Yeah, what you can't see below is a Mac Pro tower. That's what everything is connected to. I'm just using the Macbook Pro to record audio. Normally I wouldn't even have it there, but my video capture software was being buggy and I needed clean audio for the vid. The Macbook isn't doing anything except recording :) Thanks for watching!

  • V-City pride! Gonna get a APC40 soon, too.

  • Do it! APC40 is amazing. I sleep with it on the pillow next to me. Is that weird?

  • I did indeed get one, they're amazing - Ableton is so great in that it DJ the same way it produces music. Can't wait till VEMF next year - it's the only place where I find other people who like music I like!

  • Hell yeah, nice work.

  • DJVespers you are a master of your craft my friend!

  • Great tune.

  • AKAIAPC40 COM

  • Pretty cool stuff nice set up mang
