I heard this picture was John Ford's apology to the native americans for all the previous portrayals of natives in his movies... He finally told the truth that most North Americans never heard of.. but I guess most people couldn't understand... The cavalry the enemy??? Killing women and children??? Is like Superman suddenly becoming the villain after seeing the 4 movies...
CHEYENNE AUTUMN was director John Ford's last western motion picture.
Here is one spectacle that features an all-star cast including James Stewart,
Richard Widmark,Carroll Baker,Sal Mineo,Ricardo Montalban,Karl Malden,
Delores Del Rio,Arthur Kennedy,John Carradine,Gilbert Roland and Edward G. Robinson(as the Secretary of the Interior). Beautifully produced in full Super Panavision 70 and glorious Technicolor, this was one huge production that was given the roadshow treatment in 1964.

this is one of the best movies ever made.
