@ Adriaticsea, thank you so much for your comment. It probably means the most to me because you, you know what adoption means in terms of grief, loss and long term hope. The one most humbling experience in my life was having our daughter's Birth Mom entrust us with her/our daughter. It is of a depth that no one can measure. So it's to you I say...thank you.
Here's hoping you have a life-long open adoption with your son and the family you chose in your adoption plan for him.
As a Birth Mother, I must say it's families like yours that gave me the strength to get out of bed in the morning. No matter how heart broken I was, I never regretted my decision to place my son with his parents.
This is soo heart warming...videos like this give me tears of joy. She is so adorable and very lucky to have you guys in her life. You're absolute angels. Hope all is well! Sending love and wishes of eternal happiness to your beautiful family! :)
Canadians are awesome ahaha... I hear a lot of folks are adopting american babies from Canada and parts of Europe. Go adoptions! thanks for sharing such a nice vid.
I don't know what to say to that. It's just so out of my realm of thinking, that I'll have to reflect on this for a while - maybe a lifetime!
We don't just adore her because she's our daughter, but love her Birth Mom and Birth siblings too. But I think it's more about the relationship (who wouldn't love the woman who gives you her child?) and not about the race. Although I have to admit, my daughter's skin color, her eyes, her hair, are absolutely gorgeous!
@awikk2007 Well it's because it's been said for years that minorities aren't liked very much here in America. So it made me wonder can others see past skin color let alone adopt a child of another race into their families.
But i'm glad you feel that way and can see the beauty in everyone, and not just skin tone, or hair texture and automatically think it's ugly. And I hope there are others out there like you also.
I just want you to know don't worry about anyone hating on you because your baby is black. I was adopted from Africa by a white family and truth is I don't even think about it. To me my parents are my parents and that's that.
@SnapleLover Thanks for your comment!. When adopted A-heritage adults are interviewed about the realities of being a different race than their families, they say the same thing as you do that they love their families. What they do struggle with, however, is not learning to see differences. They were different, but around them everyone was the same.
I think if anyone ever made a comment about us having a Blk child I would laugh at them. We were chosen by our daughter's Birth Mom.
@awikk2007 On that note about comments most of the time I just tell people I'm adopted and my story and people thing it's really cool. I have never had one negative comment about. Anyways, you have a lovely family!
@SnapleLover Thank you for saying that. I am an adoptee and have 3 adopted children from all over the world. Those who raise you are your parents, period. God Bless.
It is a shame that you have to justify adopting a black baby, I think it is great what you did! God bless you for the big love that you can have for a child that is not biologically yours but has found her way straight into your heart! She is beautiful! God bless you and your family. I plan to adopt as well:)
Actually in the States the Birth Mom chooses the adoptive parents, so we were chosen by an African American Mom, who thought we'd be good parents to her baby girl.
By the way there's a famous AA football player and his AA wife who were chosen by a Caucasian Mom to parent her child. Does that mean "black girls luv dem white babies?".

Thanks so much everyone - but in the end it's about the Birth Parent who chose us. To her we're incredibly grateful.
