  • So after the Starwars movies, he joined Pavarotti?

-A man of so many talents!

  • non esistoni superlativi adatti.....< Fenomenale ! <

  • Ah...sheer JOY. God is good.

  • Realmente maravilloso lo de Plácido Domingo. Y lo de Pavarotti... también!

  • EPIC!

  • Reminds me of my poor old father and Christmas days of yore. God bless him and my mother and may they rest in peace.

  • I heard Pavarotti sing in Albuquerque about 5 years ago and he nearly blew the rafters out of the ceiling. Incredible man with an equally incredible voice who is greatly missed.

Domingo is nearly as good but without Placido's charisma.

  • Damn Luciano what a voice I couldn't hear Domingo @4:02

  • was brought here because others say this version is better than David Phelps version...no chance

  • Is this lip-synced??? Looks sort of like it or the video is out of snyc. Still, marvelous voices....

  • @TheDiscoDay. The video is obviously out of sync with the audio.

  • Very nice

  • flawless

  • I am soooo totally in love with Pavarotti!

  • Domingo's nosy voice completely disappears in front of Pavarotti's pure sunlight voice!

  • MY GOODNESS!! SO POWERFUL VOICES!! HUANTINGLY BEAUTIFUL.Thank you so much for sharing this.

  • Small boys compared to Jussi Björlings version!!

  • its these performances and moments that make people want to make a time machine.

  • I think I might've died from AWESOME.

  • Caruso has both beat time 50

  • So Beautiful! Thank you for uplifting our hearts with this video.

  • RIP Luciano...You miss me

  • fantastic....always will be!!!!!!

  • Personally, I prefer Jackie Evancho or Paul Potts.

    [ducking]

    Yeah. Right.

  • God both their Bb's were still so solid at this point.

  • Awesome !!! There are not enough words to rightfully describe this duo together !!

  • 3:42- 3:47

    Jaw dropping.

  • One of them is a treat, two of the is awesome, love these guys :)

  • superb this song .. sang by the greatest singers ..miss you Pavarotti

  • mouth don't go in time it seems to me

  • Pavarotti looks a lot like Brian Blessed :O

  • Oh my............

  • What key is this sung in? What is the top note?

  • Even in Pavarotti's broken English version this is still the best rendition I have ever heard!

  • I see the holy light in their eyes.

  • dom was 58 & pov was 64 there & pov was not in good health. Both in prime Pov was better end of story.

  • BRAVOOO BRAVOOO AMAIZING

  • At the end pavarotti drowns domingo totally.

  • I have sung in many concerts, and i truely reach inside to the core of my heart and let the fire of Oh Holy Night ... Speak .. And on many a night i have cried with the choir singing this powerful forfilling song...

Pavarotti was my Hero growing up ..R.I.P.

  • it is me or placido domingo have much stronger voice ?

  • @Vann7 pavarotti has the much stronger voice

  • @NMEnrique they need to sing together..both at same time can't be singing at the same volume or will not

sound good. i think ur mistaken if u think because pavarroti is fat he automatically sings stronger.notice the solo parts.domingo have much stronger voice projection without pushing much at ~2min. Pavarroti can sing at higher pitch , for sure.but domingo have an average stronger voice lower tones.pavaroti only shines in the high notes in normal parts he does sound like an average singer.

  • @Vann7 No, you are mistaken pav wasn't louder because he was fat because if he was thin he would be even louder. Pv shines in every note i have heard them both live at the opera house. Domingo shines only on the low notes but pav can sing them as domingo too no matter that he was a much higher voice. pav has a much better and stronger middle and high notes. Pav had a much better projection than domingo. Mingo at the high and medium notes sounds like an underaverage singer. Pav sounds incredible

  • Pav sounds incredible on every note he sings. Pav shines on every note he sings. Pav had a much better technique and becauuse of that he had a much better projection and travelling ability of the voice which made him a lot louder than domingo.

  • At the end Domingo just dominates!

  • Pavarotti killed dat shit.

  • This is fantastic voice!!!!!!

  • Luciano Pavarotti is a Saint.

  • Placido & Luciano are like C.Ronaldo and Messi, like Nadal and Federer.

  • @robintrailer What a beautiful analogy!

  • @robintrailer You are a fucking retard monkey...so in the spirit of the Christmas I wish you to fuck yourself and may Santa bring a pedofile to your door!!! Merry Christmas you Fuck

  • @nicolasfurrikane comase unn cerro de monda humano asqueroso

  • Why have i missed so much beauty in life and all because of my foolish prejudices

    This song reached the soul

  • merry christmas from poza rica veracruz mexico

  • That man had such an awesome voice

    RIP Pavarotti. We're missing ya.

  • Wonderful!!!Mr. Domingo oh my God...

  • god, this is the first time i have ever watched this live performance but i have heard it dozens of times and all i have to say is pavarotti makes domingo look like a bitch! its almost as if he doesn't even know words and he's reading a damn hymnal... or worse, an instruction manual on how to assemble a desk he just bought from IKEA.

wait, what was i saying again? oh right, truly amazing.

  • so beautiful....the two best ever, but Pacido makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

  • @hot4ufcchick Ok, good, but 'the two best ever'??? Try listening ti Jussi Björlings version and you will listen to the voice of God.

  • this entire video is beautiful but @ 3:42 I cry every time I heard it..simply awesome!

  • Chills all over! So powerful and beautiful!

  • NAILED IT.....Bravo!

  • Beautiful music though it and the picture are a little out of sync.

  • Like a boss.

  • Magnific!

  • One of my favourite Christmas carols. What a treat this would have been if they had decided to sing Minuit Chrétien together much earlier in their respective careers.

  • that harmony at 3:45 is AMAZING!!!!

  • @shandar7 I so agree! I LOVED it when Pava and Domingo sang together and Domingo took his natural baritone part! His voice has much more power and ring to it when he sings in his natural range!

  • @popups46okay & segf797 . Cheers, It's just that i was wondering. Great singers the lot of them.

  • Comment removed

  • God bless all Nations of our planet!!

  • One person has no taste in music...

Love both of these great singers! RIP always Luciano grace our great lord God above with your voice.

  • is this french?? i'm still wondering, can someone tell me?

  • @mojomanist yes Domingo was singing the original which is the french.. and Pavarotti was singing the english.

  • @mojomanist Yes the first part it is, the title in french is Minuit Chrétien

  • This video it's no sincronism, video/sound, but is terrific!!

  • y donde esta carreras?

  • Terrible. The conductor is in such a hurry. Shame.

  • my two favorite opera singers in a duet ! what else can i ask for ? :)

  • Comment removed

  • Domingo ,Pavarotti and these 2 precious christmas carols, what else might we ask for? let me touch heaven

  • I think Pavarotti likes to dramatize. As far as singing goes, though, I much prefer Caruso.

  • The two together are fantastic, but Pavarotti just dominates.

  • @Lisazonabell , Doesen't he. Pavarotti, domintes it all. He still rules. He's singing with the angels now. Rest in peace, Luciano. The world loves you, forever!

  • @Lisazonabell FORM ME WHOA DOMINATE IS DOMINGO, ABSOLUTLEY AMAIZING

  • @Lisazonabell I completely agree....especially on the last note... Placido attempts to keep up but good old pavs is miles ahead!

  • @madasbal I dunno. Placido finishes his note earlier and Pavarotti is on his own and most of the power of the combined note is lost, implying it came from Domingo. I agree Luciano has a more glorious tone though.

  • @binghlcrosby Ill go with that.... Its somewhat more effortless aswell. Begin to worry a bit for Placido towards the end... Anyway, both fine singers, who am I to judge!

  • @Lisazonabell Domingo is reading the music sheets and Pavarotti is looking straight because he knows all the words and notes by heart.

  • @Lisazonabell

Well that's not the way I hear it. Domingo has line and legato. Pavarotti is choppy and unmusical. Remember that when they used to sing together P often sang the tenor part and D sang the baritone line. P's voice was nearly a whole step higher.

  • @Agorante You have absolutley right! If you listen concert of three tenors in Rome (listen Cielito Lindo, the last part when Domingo is having the top note) Pavarotti didn`t know how to sing bariton-second voice. He yust could`t do it. Same on the other concets, where he had duets. In this particulary song Pavarotti must sing longer than Domingo, he must show that he is better like always when he sang duets with other tenors. And he is loking for the words and notes on the screen down the floor.

  • Comment removed

  • @Lisazonabell Probably cos he's singing the tenor part and Domingo's doing the baritone.

  • I have the cd i listen throughout the year do not wait till christmas

    they must have 10 stars

  • The best on the world are singing together!

  • Just what I needed to hear! I'm in heaven! THIS is the music for the Season! Two heavenly voices, an orchestra, a chorus of angels in the background....(after all,Jesus IS the reason for the Season.) And the voices of Placido and Luciano are simply Heaven on Earth to me! Better than going to Church! Frieda

  • Do you want to shiver for "cold"? Just listen to this!

  • Just...wow.

  • Yes. Thanks for your helpful comments.

  • Heavenly !

  • Why is Pavarotti not at his best here? This is 1999 - was he ill already? Was it because he had to sing in English?

  • It's because of the eyebrows. (He's old.)

  • To hear him at his best you need to go back to the 80s. However even in the 90s he was the best voice of his time. Placido is the most complete artist but Luciano was the best voice.

  • Maybe. Pavarotti was a singing machine, but he was never as delicate as Domingo when it came to details.

  • this is soooooo beautiful,

    i so enjoyed watching this

    5*****

  • I love very much this song and Luciano sung it wonderful, he is amazing. I love him so much. thank you luisablerto.

  • My beautiful Luciano, singing my favorite Christmas song. 64 years old here and still the most remarkable voice ever. He is so loved.

    Thank you!
