  • One of the best covers of any song I've ever heard!! Does the original justice AND stands on its own as a cool production

  • The original is way better. But this is good.

  • I never heard the original but hearing that its completely different and being a W.A.S.P. fan I doubt I would like the original, but since Blackie covered it I shall try it

  • channel update im investing in new equipment, more guitar covers soon for those of you who like wasp and this cover, i will be doing a guitar cover of it, guitar solo as well soo keep an eye out :D thanks guys

  • Well there's 3:03 minutes of my life I'll never get back DAMN IT!!!

  • @waburgathe and another 20 seconds you lost by staying to comment about losing 3:03 minutes of your life

  • It froze up on me. Thankfully.

  • Genial!!!! mejor que la de Jethro Tull!!!!

  • boring..no feeling for music.

This version is just for the waste bin.

    regards

  • I have total respect for Blackie, great singer, writer and musician, but boy he knew how to look a complete tart.

He didn't need the dodgy gimmicks, his music was enough.

  • fuck you punk. WASP fucked your mother!

  • @sarah67219 that probably IS the best they could get. Ugly mofos.

  • @lundehund44 Actually he has had more sex than you ever will with women....you're prolly just a jealous douche on the net trying to look cool while you hide behind a monitor.

  • i'm allowed to bitch, its my right! and i haven't even heard the song yet, just read yer rant & that got me going! i'll rant after the song too!

  • Thank you very much I'm a huge Tull fan and I JAM to this.

    @ToadsPlace

  • WASP is the greatest fuckin band to come out out of the '80's. Blackie is like Lemmy Junior

  • Imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery. Part from that I aint a fan of Tull. Nor WASP to be honest. The cover is passable though. Guitar being its saving grace:)

  • @tommyfly

Agreed. Unimaginative cover. Since I'm generally very fond of Blackie's vocals, I'm especially disappointed by his flat delivery.

Oh well, you can't be perfect all the time. Just hoped for more from one of my favorite metal bands covering this legendary band.

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!

  • That was good . I like it.

  • the best cover ever!!!!!hail from GREECE

  • Locomotive breath with an appeal for repressed gays .

Orrible version of a nice piece

  • Actually, it sounds too much like the original. Apart from the LA hair metal production style this is indistinguishable from Tull's version. It's too bad, they could have done more with it.

  • S'ok. Music is quite flexible. It doesn't mind what you do to it.

  • youre right it bears no resemblance to the original... so why steal the lyrics and title?

  • I'm a Tull AND a metal Fan, W.A.S.P. is one of my faves N I LOVE IT! Thanx for posting it! I hear a resemblance to the original in the melody, but yeah, if you like Tull type music N NOT Metal, DO NOT listen to it! Now you've been warned twice...

  • TULL's version is the best but this is a good tribute to the greatness of TULL giving it a heavy metal sound.

  • Shit sucks.

  • Old school is still the best.

  • I wouldn't say I hate this version, although it does prove W.A.S.P to be a bit limited and highly over rated when compared to old bands like Tull. Perhaps they should have attempted a Slade cover ...

    Still good though.

  • I liked it, though I could have done without the blood pouring. If you want to hear the OPPOSITE of this google Tull + Neue.

  • Every cover WASP ever has done is awesome. Blackie doesn't release shit covers. Paint It Black, Mississippi Queen, etc... they always kick ass!!!

  • VERY GOOD!

  • lol

  • Not an excellent cover id rather hear cyndi lauper try it!

  • Hell Yeah Thank you for posting this....Excellent cover!!!!!

  • W.A.S.P. nailed it!!-- Tull would be proud!! :)

  • i am note sure, really all metal bands are unable to play rhythm that is not making me sleep?its like steamroller going uphill,no way to speed up.

  • I like the pure aggression of this version!! The original had the same effect for it's time!

  • I'm a Tull fan, and a WASP fan as well. Of course I like the original best, but I f..k love this cover. It's absolutely great and catches the atmosphere of the original in a much more angry way

  • @davetherake Man, you know what? I could make your words mine, i mean it 100% ! I´m also a huge Tull fan and a huge WASP fan. (somehow rare phenonema, isn´t it?). Cheers

  • Well I love Tull and WAsp and they both do this song justice, I couldnt choose one over the other!

  • Wasp did the song justice...damn good imho

  • PS... listen to OVERKILL's cover of " Frankenstien" by Edgar Winter. Piont in case.

  • Lets face it. There are hundreds of songs you heard as a kid. When you got into heavy metal many of those songs you thought should be chopped up a notch with a heavy hand and a faster time signature. This is one of them. Cross Eyed Mary... another. Its that grity, dirty sound that gets you. Imagine Baker Street played w/ a guitar instead of a sax, God bless the Carpenters. Thrash out Sing a Song... and rip!!!

  • As a long-time Tull fan, I think this cover is mighty and excellent! As SilverHamer said, what's the use of doing a cover if you're going to do it exactly the same as the original? This rocks hard, true to the original lyrics and form, but with their own touches. Fine!

  • The song still sucks, but at least this one rocks.

  • @dahanks1 shut the fuck up dumb ass , if locomotive breath sucks too you, you just signed your life over to me to pull the fucking trigger.

  • that song is awesome. i love wasp. cool.

  • The original is heavier for me, this is a good version but lacks that certain feel

  • I don't know why any ardent fan of Jethro Tull, or WASP either for that matter, wouldn't like this song. I think it's cool, and I'm an old Tull fan from way on back. What the IDIOTS don't seem to be able to grasp is that when someone does a COVER SONG, it does not necessarily have to conform to the original...if it did, then what's the point? I think WASP did a great job of maintaining the general integrity of this song while interjecting their own style into it. I give them thumbs up! :D

  • I'm a Tull fan back to 1970...and this is excellent, man. I love metal covers

anyway..like the one on this can..bam!

  • I'll have you know Tull ARE a heavy metal band, just ask metallica (hee hee). Anyway, this cover is quite faithful to the original.

    Great stuff, thanks.

  • @Gus9763 LOL if I were a Metallica fan I might take exception to that comment. HAHAHA. As far as I'm concerned, their losing their grammy to Tull couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch...but even Tull was surprised with it. That's ok, the next year Lars and James and company came back and won their grammy...and Lars even gave a nod and thanks to Tull for not coming out with an album that year...HAHAHA.

  • WEAK!

  • I like JT and wasp. This cover isn't bad, I think if they had handled the chorus a bit different it might have worked great.

  • lovin it

  • I like Jethro Tull alot and I really like this version it's fresh and differnt but still has the main riff in it.

  • Kool I like to think that Tull Had a small influence However small to Heavy metal

  • I am Jethro Tull's publicist, and LOVE this!

  • I love Tull, I like this type of kinda glam metal or whatever, but I don't really like them together. Hmm. At least they tried. :)

  • i am sorry, but metal is so insesitive to JT in general, this souns nothing like train.maybe hippo droppings fallin on metal rooftop.and where is any gradation in the solo part?

  • what do you mean bears no resemblance? I LOVE this!!! it sounds like a proper metal cover. This doesnt take away from it at all

  • I wanted to do an Industrial version of this song, and its great to hear someone else also felt it could use a kick ;p

This is my first time hearing WASP too, and it wont be my last \m/

  • I'm a Tull fan... this is GREAT! I'm 51 and been a tull fan since high school, this doesn't take away from that at all

  • He was right, this version sucks, haha!

  • i dont think a song has to sound like the original to be good its about the band doing the cover bringing there own style to a great song,i like tull i like wasp they are both excellent bands.thanx for a great cover.

  • This rocks, and there's nothing wrong with it except the uploader's comment that it "bares little or no resemblance to the original." It hardly departs from the original at all. Still in E, exact same chord progression, same tempo, same lyrics and same melody. How's it different? Just more bar chords instead of single-note riffs, and no flute solo. The original was quite heavy for 1971.

Never knew W.A.S.P. covered this - obviously they knew good music! Thumbs up.

  • W.A.S.P. was actually one of the great bands musically and visually from the 80's.

  • Tull fanatic.

    Almost like a crack head.

    And this!!!!????!!??

This is a kick-ass version. They made it their own. Rockin l..l,

  • I'm a Tull fan, I grew UP on Tull and I never liked WASP until I heard this....what, three decades later???? lol! I love it.

  • this is the second best band nr one is AC DC

  • Well this Tull Fan Fucking Likes It A Lot FUCKFACE

  • where is the classical shits act like voo-du-opptional weapons select . i know i fell for the u.s.a scheme to but football rules........ pig tails...........

  • Love this version, and I'm a die hard fan of Jethro Tull. Thanks for posting.

  • Wow ... who knew? ... as a Tull fan who is completely unfamiliar with W.A.S.P, they now have my utmost respect ... a very good cover ... I salute W.A.S.P Nation!!

  • honestly i like this version better then the original. the tull version is too quiet and classy sounding

  • Blackie is killer! I like it, and I'm a Jethro Tull fan.

  • not as good as the original.. but its ok.. cheers

  • cool version of the song, I listened to wasp a lot when I was alot younger, this is cool. Still like a lot of their music.

  • what r u talkin about it bears no resemblance to the original... a retard could tell you what song this was

  • What american trash version. It´s lame and offend TULL.

  • i think it fuckin rocks

  • I like both versions...

  • Tull & Metal Fan Approves!

I also love Maiden's Cross Eyed Mary

  • ok ! Tully UK

  • I love Tull and WASP and this an awesome cover.

  • It's just a cover, not a war about bands and classic rock... I don't like WASP but they did a tribute to a great band using my favorite song. It's great!

  • not bad, but as WASP covers go, The Real Me trumps this any day

  • I was never fond of the original version of this song, but this version IMO kicks total ass.

Now, if Tull sounded like this, I could understand them beating AC/DC 'Razors Edge' and Metallica 'Black Album' for best metal album.

  • Comment removed

  • this is... weird. i can barely recognize it. the original is incredible and this cover lacks everything that made the original good, but it's so different i can't say it's bad... it's like a whole other song good in itself.

  • yeah you're right, it's crap.

  • I love WASP and tis is great. Yes the song is nor like the jethro but it sounds great. Also if you like this check out the Helloween cover too.

  • tull fan telling you that the song rocks!

  • @enkilakasha Agreed... also a Tull fan and these guys did a great job.

  • Love both the original and this cover - what a jam... can't replace Tull's fluting but this rocks

  • Long time WASP and Tull fan.

Nice to see this posted, I had it on the B side of Mean Man.

WASP actually got me INTO tull ;)

  • hey, i'm a Tull fan and I really like this version too. thanks for posting.

  • Damn that's a badass cover!

  • Wow, so glad I found this. Been a Tull and Wasp fan--at different times and in different moods--for a long, long time and had no idea they did this cover. My opinion: sounds bloody brilliant....

  • im a jethro tull fan but i love wasp aswell and this is a great cover

  • wasp..nice to know some dogs still have teeth...i can pick it up and put it down...

    but i can't leave alone..25 year's..

  • i love it good muisic is good music

  • thanks for warning, but this is quite good cover anyway

  • well all i have to say is i didnt know a mans balls could get hard!?? but mine did ,.... ..thank you w.a.s.p

  • totally freakin awsome

  • W.A.S.P. nuff said

  • Helloween's version is even heavier.

  • @kradar did it fuck

  • this sucks. wtf? tull's version sounded heavier.

  • @kradar how the fuck could you say that, tull is a serious hippie band, this up there is the age of metal baby, they rule!!

  • @sic1mohawk Because this sounds cheesy. W.A.S.P. usually didn't sound that bad. I was Metal before you were even born.

  • Thank you for posting this! Seriously... I had no idea thier version even existed. If you didn't already state it, where did this come from? Just goes to show the versatility and overall genuine talent of the band and Blackie in particular. Kudos!

    WASP forever!!

  • @saintdlee well how i got it was i bourgth the wasp headless children and electric circus double cd set and it was one of the bonus tracks on the headless children album

  • i think its pretty freakin cool....and i'm not even a wasp fan!!

  • I love hearing different covers of tunes i grew up listening to.

    Great version...thanks for sharing!

  • Fucked great!

  • as a big fan of both bands this is a genuine tribute and transfers styles to sound great regardless, a great song surpasses the bullshit and great musicians take anothers song and adds their own take without diminishing the origonal

  • keep rockin blackie

    you truly are an inspiration

  • love it, I can hear Tull in it, has that Tull rhythm

  • This version kicks ass!

  • Im a Tull fan and i realy appreciate this cover ,well done ! Covers are the sincearest form of flattery .

  • i love fucking both..... hahhahahh

  • there is a 95% chance that i like both versions

  • this is ok, but Tull kicks ass when it does this song!

  • ..Theres a Helloween version, too!

  • @dameonwrathchild1 when exactly have i ever said i didnt like wasp or the song?

  • Comment removed

  • @dameonwrathchild1 he never said he didnt like it he was warning ppl tht liked the original not to bitch about wasps version

  • @dameonwrathchild1 such an ANGRY little youtuber. congradulations you look like an ass. and your comment didnt make sense

  • thats fuckin cool

  • If it wasn't for WASP I never would have liked this song. The same goes for Metallica covering those hillbillys Leonard Skinhard ( I know exactally what I said ) Tuesday's gone. Both of the original band blew major chuncks, but these covers made them ROCK!!

  • @DjJtown

    You're around 15 years old huh ?

  • interresting !

  • Los mejores!!!!

  • Grandes!!!!

  • Los mejores!!!

  • I'm a huge Tull fan and I think Wasp did a great job covering this. It's a perfect compliment to Ian's songwriting and shows narrow-minded-people like lars Ulrich that Tull does rock and wasp prooves it. Great Cover....

  • Hellen Keller on Lead guitar Folks

  • I'm a great Tull fun..

But I like both :P well the original one more.. but this ine here is also very well done

  • This has the cleanest vocals I've ever heard from Blackie Lawless. If someone gave me this song and didn't tell me who was doing it, I'm not sure I'd recognize it.

Very cool. Thanks for posting :)

    Henrik

  • dude i love it!

  • I've been a Tull fan since the early 70's, but also a WASP fan since the 80's. Love the original version (which is how I sang it with my first band), but also love Blackie's. I think Ian Anderson would like it as well.

  • Look, you were warned that it was nothing like the original(except lyrics) and yes it is a matter of personal taste, so do us W.A.S.P. fans and Blackie a huge favor and quit your bitching about the Goddamned song. Thank you.

  • I heard both versions and out of the two this one kicks the other ones ass.

  • Ian Anderson is a musical genius, as is Blackie. Great combination of metal and Tull-ness.

  • Huh, not even half as bad as I expected. Ain't bad at all...

  • His woman and his best friend --

    In bed and having fun

  • amazing band , amazing cover

  • God years since i`ve heard this version,

ever heard the tull version live at the hammersmith london 84 tour, sounds just as heavy, but with a flute banging away !!

  • blackie lawless is and will always be the best damn song writer ive ever heard of listen too and loved hes excellent love the music been a metal head since way back but i chose w.a.s.p blackie over them all

  • Awesome Cover... but all W.A.S.P. covers are awesome

  • Never heard this cover before. Nice job, I really like it.

The first couple of cds they released are awesome.

  • Never heard this cover before, it's really good. Love the orig, love this also.

  • finally somone who isnt one sided and ignorant :)

  • I always found this tune to be a lot better choice of a cover / remake than say, the Elton John tune they did (Saturday Night's Allright For Fighting)

  • bha

  • my dad knew Blackie Lawless

he rented my dads studio for a little while

  • Blackie Lawless gets no respect for what he has done for metal. Hs later projects are damn good. He has one of the best vocals in metal.

  • deffinitly he was a huge inspiriation in both teh theater, the song writing and the style aspect of metal for people like marylin mansion, slipknot and alot of black metal performers, but theyd rather say shit like rapists and satanism inspire them when it was actualy people like blackie lawless bands today are so full of shit and wont admit to their true inspiratiosn because teh kids are like uuugh its old stuff

  • Temazoooo!!! Dios que tiempos!!!

  • They've done a wonderful job on the instrumental part, they really filled the gaps to make this from a prog rock legend into a good heavy metal song, however the vocals lack finesse and feeling. It's like he's singing it while doing the dishes or something.

  • yeah its a greta, thick guitar riff! and teh drums are awesom with the double bass groove and all that, i dno though i liek that sinngin, i mean sure he doesnt put all that loud agressive throat into it like older wasp songs but it could be worse, he could be a punk singer haha.

  • I like a lot Jethro tull and I like a lot WASP..

And I like a lot this version of the song :)

  • One question...WHY?

  • why NOT???

  • I am a big fan of both Tull and W.A.S.P. and I find this cover really poor. It is boring, does not have the groove of the original, and Blackie here is somewhat uninspired. I think Jethro Tull`s version is much more "metal" than this one...
