Lets face it. There are hundreds of songs you heard as a kid. When you got into heavy metal many of those songs you thought should be chopped up a notch with a heavy hand and a faster time signature. This is one of them. Cross Eyed Mary... another. Its that grity, dirty sound that gets you. Imagine Baker Street played w/ a guitar instead of a sax, God bless the Carpenters. Thrash out Sing a Song... and rip!!!
As a long-time Tull fan, I think this cover is mighty and excellent! As SilverHamer said, what's the use of doing a cover if you're going to do it exactly the same as the original? This rocks hard, true to the original lyrics and form, but with their own touches. Fine!
I don't know why any ardent fan of Jethro Tull, or WASP either for that matter, wouldn't like this song. I think it's cool, and I'm an old Tull fan from way on back. What the IDIOTS don't seem to be able to grasp is that when someone does a COVER SONG, it does not necessarily have to conform to the original...if it did, then what's the point? I think WASP did a great job of maintaining the general integrity of this song while interjecting their own style into it. I give them thumbs up! :D

This rocks, and there's nothing wrong with it except the uploader's comment that it "bares little or no resemblance to the original." It hardly departs from the original at all. Still in E, exact same chord progression, same tempo, same lyrics and same melody. How's it different? Just more bar chords instead of single-note riffs, and no flute solo. The original was quite heavy for 1971.

I've been a Tull fan since the early 70's, but also a WASP fan since the 80's. Love the original version (which is how I sang it with my first band), but also love Blackie's. I think Ian Anderson would like it as well.

I always found this tune to be a lot better choice of a cover / remake than say, the Elton John tune they did (Saturday Night's Allright For Fighting)

They've done a wonderful job on the instrumental part, they really filled the gaps to make this from a prog rock legend into a good heavy metal song, however the vocals lack finesse and feeling. It's like he's singing it while doing the dishes or something.
yeah its a greta, thick guitar riff! and teh drums are awesom with the double bass groove and all that, i dno though i liek that sinngin, i mean sure he doesnt put all that loud agressive throat into it like older wasp songs but it could be worse, he could be a punk singer haha.
I am a big fan of both Tull and W.A.S.P. and I find this cover really poor. It is boring, does not have the groove of the original, and Blackie here is somewhat uninspired. I think Jethro Tull`s version is much more "metal" than this one...

This has the cleanest vocals I've ever heard from Blackie Lawless. If someone gave me this song and didn't tell me who was doing it, I'm not sure I'd recognize it.

I've been a Tull fan since the early 70's, but also a WASP fan since the 80's. Love the original version (which is how I sang it with my first band), but also love Blackie's. I think Ian Anderson would like it as well.

I always found this tune to be a lot better choice of a cover / remake than say, the Elton John tune they did (Saturday Night's Allright For Fighting)

Blackie Lawless gets no respect for what he has done for metal. Hs later projects are damn good. He has one of the best vocals in metal.

deffinitly he was a huge inspiriation in both teh theater, the song writing and the style aspect of metal for people like marylin mansion, slipknot and alot of black metal performers, but theyd rather say shit like rapists and satanism inspire them when it was actualy people like blackie lawless bands today are so full of shit and wont admit to their true inspiratiosn because teh kids are like uuugh its old stuff

They've done a wonderful job on the instrumental part, they really filled the gaps to make this from a prog rock legend into a good heavy metal song, however the vocals lack finesse and feeling. It's like he's singing it while doing the dishes or something.

yeah its a greta, thick guitar riff! and teh drums are awesom with the double bass groove and all that, i dno though i liek that sinngin, i mean sure he doesnt put all that loud agressive throat into it like older wasp songs but it could be worse, he could be a punk singer haha.

I am a big fan of both Tull and W.A.S.P. and I find this cover really poor. It is boring, does not have the groove of the original, and Blackie here is somewhat uninspired. I think Jethro Tull`s version is much more "metal" than this one...
