I actually prefer the 2005 version. Honestly, it feels like everyone is wearing rose tinted goggles. I can understand how people respect the classic for, well, being a classic, and respect it for how it revolutionized film, but i do feel the 2005 version is a better film. The special effects add so much to a film, being able to show Kong's emotion throughout the film. It all makes the film that much more tragic. I hate when people prefer films simply because there classics.

the old one is a timeless classic made 76 years ago so I guess you cant expect people nowadays to appreciate it. dont get me wrong the new one is still good but the original is legendary

i have to agree the old king kong had a damn good plot line and the new was just retarded especially the native village no societies would look like that.

it just looked dead and very out of place the white actors with dirt smeared on.

i will admit i saw many different people mixed in the natives in new king kong.

i must agree jack black does not fit his role in this film, paul giamatti or the film sticks with the original story line and era (which is good since the story will not work with the present)

the '30s Kong has amazing stop motion effects current cgi has less of a wow factor, realistic but it seemed people are used to cgi

but both Kong films are way much better than the 1978 bipedal kong

The actors in the original King Kong? Did we see the same movie?They're were good actor from that time period, but I dont know if King Kong cast really lived up to anything. The dialogue, expecially during the brief romance scene on the boat, was really pretty bad.

I like them both and for different reasons. I agree that the old Kong is a monster, which I think was the goal of the movie, and the new one is just a captive animal. It didn't killed people just for fun as the old one. I think what really differs is the time in which they were made. Nowadays the victim in not the "poor girl" who gets kidnapped, but the gorila who was taken away from his place. In the first movie it was really the beauty who killed the beast, in the second one, I'm not so sure.

I made the my young nieces watch old KONG with me and they loved it. They were scared at first, but felt sad for KONG at the end. The new one was a great tribute, but lacked the old one's goal of making KONG a MONSTER! The original's director, Merian Cooper, once said of KONG's violent behavior, that he could make KONG the most vicious brute in the world, but because of his soft spot for Fay Wray, have the audience crying at his death. Today's films are all about 1 star, and they
