  • the original must be out there somewhere? surely someone ripped the original or perhaps even the original uploader could upload it somewhere ELSE? I really do want to see this vid properly.

  • dont see why he would want to sue. uploader not making money and why wouldnt he want to explain dubstep to all us bassheads.

  • Is there ANYWHERE I can find the audio, I mean damn.

  • moboogie fucking sucks, whoever they are. I hope I never have to know who they are, and they drift through life never having a YouTube video with 200k viewers.

  • Lost respect for bassnectar for this whole threatning to sue thing...

  • @crazyjesse2 Bassnectar had nothing to do with the video being taken down. It was the company that interviewed him (the original audio used in the video was from that interview).

  • hey DCMA.... go fuck yourselves. right in your stupid fucking asses

  • Dubstep is about vibes, melody... not drops.

  • Fsck. Isn't the original voice track available at least? Like this, the video is totally cooked :(

  • just as a CLARIFICATION, it was NOT BASSNECTAR that took this down it was MOBOOGIE, the ORIGINAL interviewer of when bassnectar said this. THEY took it down and threatened lawsuit, NOT BASSNECTAR SO DONT DISS HIM! The guy is genuine.

  • @jokerkdk Not true. MOBOOGIE never threatened a lawsuit over this video. It was removed because of the interview audio being used without permission, that's it. They looked into getting the original reposted, but it was not approved by the DMCA who are ultimately the ones responsible for the original video being taken down.

  • ='(

  • Full with sound vk._com/video141699418_161680905 Remove _

  • @MrKongret Remove _before .com

  • why does moBoogie claim, they are trying to help you getting this back up and they did not threaten to sue you or anything?

  • great vid! bummer about the music!!!!!

  • Although I understand the indignation of "used without my permission", it's a real shame this couldn't get resolved more smartly. It's a recording from 2007 that someone figured out how to turn into 200,000+ YouTube views. Seems like that would be enough stuff with which to figure out a win-win resolution.

  • I just lost respect for bassnectar. Now this video is laling me to sleep.

  • @MRflashbomb69 learn to appreciate the hard work that goes into music. if this bores you then fuck off.

  • @MRflashbomb69 don't lose respect for bassnectar, he had nothing to do with this

  • yeah this is a little silly man

i loved to show this to people that had no idea what dubstep (or electronica) was and they fully understood.

its a hard thing to explain but apperently adding visual aid to that isent allowed...

awesome video though, when it was up that is

    no im just pissed

  • Why did it randomly change audio

  • FUCK THESE FUCKING LABELS LORIN IS MAD AS FUCK

  • Like this the video SUXs the original version was great

  • @Thundathury yes

  • Ooohhhh now I see. You make it so simple.

  • original audio: /watch?v=BFLe3MEDwv4

  • WELL, BASSNECTAR IS AN ASSHOLE OBV, SO LETS JUST BOYCOTT ALL THE ASSHOLES WHO WANT TO CONTINUE FEEDING INTO THE INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX MACHINE AND SUE PEOPLE WHO SHARE LOVE FOR MUSIC. fuck man.

dont promote them shithead money hungry leeches.

  • @HomelandSecurityXO I´m sure bassnectar himself has nothing to do with this. probably his label or some dickhead who recorded him talking now thinks he has some copyright

  • original audio here. replace (dot) with . obviously

    ebaumsworld(dot)com/video/watch/82182191/

  • u explained the wrong tree branch... this guy is one of those assholes that only likes shit hip hop that don't have a good beat.

  • Im sorry but for 1 that's gay i wouldn't expect that of Lorin... And for 2, Dubstep is NOT at half the speed of "breakbeat" that's ABSURD! Its the EXACT same tempo as a breakbeat the ONLY DIFFERENCE is you have one snare hit on the 3 instead of 2 per measure one on the 2nd beat and one on the 4th beat! Dubstep producers don't make their tracks @ 70 bpm they make them at 140.... Yes the two are interchangeable just like hip hop and drum and bass, one being at 85 or so bpm and the other 170ish..

  • @Thundathury ROFL, I hear it too, except for when I put it in full screen it SWITCHES to the stupid music hahaa.

  • @antman2x2 same here, haha^^

  • I remember this having a voice.

  • Dubstep is not kuh bum piss chaka chaka pik poom. I really hope Lorin didn't have anything to do with this video, because it's retarded

  • Step 1. Go to the link

    Step 2. Play the video

Step 3. Sync up the audio

    Step 4. Enjoy

  • I disliked this for the corny music track but take it back after reading your post. Now I just feel stupid

  • Quite beautiful

  • and the beat is like BOBWOBWBOBWOBWOWOWOWOWOWWw its just really fucking heavy

  • The bowowowowowowowow, just really fucken heavy is what got me into Dubstep

  • soo anyone know name this song at the beginning ?

  • @3RunDragon Bassnectar - Bass Head

  • Just a little clarification 'cos the wording in the video might be a bit misleading, it wasn't Bassnectar who threatened to sue anyone, just whoever owns the copyright to the interview or whatever it is. Direct your hate to those phenomenal assholes.

  • sry about the video man thats pretty shitty but before that happened this video was pretty helpful and kicked ass lol

  • Hey, if it makes you all feel better eBaum's world has already stolen and posted the unedited version of this video.

  • Couldn't you just upload to vimeo and link it from this video so people can hear the original audio?

  • haha he literally just fixed it. wow

  • lol the audio still worked for me?

  • PEOPLE JUST NOW COMING TO THE VIDEO. You might as well leave now. The audio was replaced by piano music for some reason.

  • aww man what happened to the audio... big thumbs down to the nectar for making the audio disappear

  • dafuq, where did the audio go, i JUST listened to this.

  • ROCKET SCIENSE!!!!:P

  • @kdynamic

Lorin wants you to put that this was made in 2007, and is not really valid for modern dubstep. please upvote so the uploader sees

  • How did you know I was just eating Pistachios and one wouldn't open?!? I do hate pistachios that wont open.... :( It's like; I love you though, Why won't you let me eat you? well screw you then I have a whole bag..... BUT I WANT THIS ONE REALLY BAD NOW!!!

  • No audios D:

  • @Kiristovai wow.

    he explained it perfectly. musically.

    not talking about styles...

  • What??? Grime isnt normally slow! it can be, but more time it's fast! 140bpm my friend lol

  • @chaosthunder half time = 70

  • @AhhNick the main tempo for grime is 140bpm. that's all i know. i dont know much bout half-time and double-time, i'm not a music student. i just love music. simple lol

  • This video should be protected under the fair use doctrine.

  • Years ago I would just explain it as "slow drum and bass", but then most people don't even know what DNB is...then I would just say it's like "club rap without the words".

What bugs me the most is when some people start calling all electronic music dubstep.

  • HOLY FUCKING FUCKITY FUCKER FUCK FUCK!!! It's about damn time somebody put together a short, accurate, comprehensible, straight-forward definition of what Dubstep really is. It makes me so endlessly happy that someone has finally put this combination of words together into this combination of sentences so that nobody can reasonably call Dubstep "that dancey, techno kinda music" ever again. Thank you, Bassnectar.

  • TheNyller379 is probably like 13 and is trying to grasp some kind of pride form an era he wasnt even old enough to be listening to in the clubs when it was truly... "underground"

  • Thumbs up if Datsik sent your late ass here.

  • I am amazed that some people cant comprehend the true scope of my disgust when I passionately express my absolute hatred for house, techno and (to quote Bassnectar) "unts, unts, unts" repetitive shite. From now on, I'll just give them a link to this brilliant infographic style vid! Tis like a feud between the House Hatfields and Brokenbeats McCoys! Boh! Boh! Boh! House dies. The end. ;) Y'all rock!!!!! :)

  • @RockstarRaverBoy stfu.. ur name is RockstarRaverBoy

  • Datsik is da ishhhh.

  • DatSik

  • FUK I LOVE DUBSTEP

    :o

  • I don't think he meant to describe hip hop as a subgenre of electronic music. He was just using an early 90 bpm rap breakbeat (ie Amen, Funky Drummer, etc) as an example. He should have said rap beat instead of hip hop lol. Hip hop is a culture, rap is music. Rap IS a predominantly electronic type of music though, sample-heavy or not. :)

  • get ready for DatSik fans invading (:

  • Datsik sent me.

  • Thumbs up for trip hop

  • facepalm for saying hiphop is a subgenre of electronic

  • @Pigguns not what he meant.

  • @Pigguns i mean... if you define electronic music as music made electronically, like on a computer. idk.. with a loose definition, it can be considered electronic music. interesting interpretation. i get what your saying though :)

  • @Pigguns nowadays, what i see as hipphop sucks. its the mainstream "catchy" music that suffers when it comes to lyrics and focuses on the beats to attract attention and thus is the more important part to the music. Rap on the other hand is the lyric heavy stuff that you don't hear on the radio with meaning and has beats just to help keep the rhymes to. What im trying to say is just because hiphop often involves raping doesnt mean that its the main attraction, justifying it as electronic

  • Shout out to Prezi, awesome site, glad to see it get used to explain something cool

  • thumbs up if you just happened to find this with out someone sending you here

  • @chriscreque1 How about I don't thumbs you up because you're a tool.

  • @ElectroSoulOffical How about I thumbs you up because you said what I was going to.

  • but you said dub was steady beat AND broken beat. get you facts right mate, not that it matters

  • thumbs up if you hate pistachios that you cant fucking open

    </3

  • @speedemon308 F**kin bite them ooooopen

  • BUNCHA CATS

  • Datsik sent meh.

  • Haha ya datsik did send me here

  • Thumbs up if Datsik sent you here :D

  • Nail on the head

  • Thumbs up if DATSIK sent you here

  • datsik sent me here

  • Bass need to do video of this while playing it

  • Thumb up if the verge sent you here

  • Wow! I was looking for definition on these~!

  • Word!

  • Lorin Ashton i love you. You signed my hat three different times and hosted some of the funnest nights of my life

  • and the beat's like BOWOWOWOWOW

  • There was a lot useless ambivilance there, if anything I would find this more helpful creatively if you're feeling your music needs a little change, unless you wanna know 80 ways to say electronic music.

  • Hey Loren.... thank you for this! I've been a raver for over 20 years and never understood this shit until now! Also, you rock. and I don't mean that in a mindless hippie way

  • I want the full family tree as a poster.

  • who the fuck said you can't beatbox ?!

  • and i thought i was a purist

  • skrillex is bro step

  • @2lazeblue Skrillex produces Electro/Complextro/Dubstep. Brostep is more like Rusko and Borgore.

  • No wonder my fav 2 genres are hiphop and dubstep

  • "ultra dirty spawn" fuck yeah, that's the way i like it

  • I was bored, and was going to rob a bank, smuggle mexicans into the USA and tag some local walls. Instead, I listened to Skrillex.

  • @jeffreyfina Neat.

  • he's using Prezi lol

  • raise your hand if youre stupid

  • Everything with a dirty bassline is "dubstep" these days.

  • More than half of the people that watched this video, don't even know what you mean dog...

  • hah. really good explanation

  • You should post an info graphic of this :)

  • Not bad. Pretty close on the genre breakdown, omitting a few things of course.

  • Omg good explanation !!

  • well i learned something new today

  • 2:30 "and the beat's like BOWOWOWOWOWOW just like really fucking heavy".

    Made me lol :D

  • 140 bpm

    Half time beat

    Snare on 3'ed bar thing

Revolves around the sub bass line/bass driven (although that’s not completely true in modern dub step but it still has to be very bass heavy)

  • @BigBadBadger1 shut up no one cares

  • not bad.

  • @meejrt your comment is shit -.-

  • Sooo... this is dubstep.

  • This helps so much, I actually didn't realise some of the origins of Dubstep

  • you are wise beyond your years..

  • True that!

  • There is no way to ruin a genre, just because a certain artist makes music you don't like and even if they become hugely popular, their presence didn't suddenly erase all the songs, groups, or DJs that you like. If you like a genre but hate a popular musician of said genre, just don't listen to them. All this butthurt is just saying "stop liking what I don't like"...

  • @b1ackartemis Totally agree but an artist can ruin the scene of genre.

  • my class and music teacher say thanks for the video ;)

  • thumbs up if red bull sent you here.

  • You can actually learn something from this, and im sure ive learned something from this 3 min video!!Btw you have the most awesome voice ever!

  • Imma banana!

  • i think this was very knowledgeable. I've never know much about beats, and when people say 'hey! you there.. what type of music do you think this is?'' and i look like a total idiot, saying the first thing that comes to my head, or i tell them i have no idea. i pretty sure i learned a thing or two from this video, so all those people who are being out right rude can go suck the hulks big green balls.

  • I'm not from England, but dubstep will always be Englands underground music. :x

  • @TheNyller379 Even tho the english ripped pretty every other form of american music. mostly black american music.

  • @TheNyller379 How so? Its no longer indigenous to England nor is it underground.

  • @TheNyller379

not at all., not even close.

  • wath is the song in the begingin

  • Comment removed

  • FUCK OFF YOU AMERICAN TWAT ITS PEOPLE YOU WHO RUINED DUBSTEP

  • UTTER BOLLOCKS

  • its all about the double time hype in dubstep.

  • I liked the part where he shut the fuck up.

  • this is total bullshit

  • Whereas there is a subtle but important difference between (say) Mambo and Cha-cha (and it ain't the speed), I can't help remaining very skeptical about the idea that turning the tempo knob, or switching the quantize option on a sequencer is enough to define a "genre" of electronic music. This is surely something more like the Richter scale or the Beaufort scale rather than a genre thing?

But I suppose that's the point. 3 is gentle breeze. 9 is strong gale. Right. Got it.

  • ahahah that's why i don't like genre music

  • Where does 'Step Step' fit in? Oh shit... That was one of the first incarnations of the genre: You need to check out 'Homo Erectus - Walking' before you comment on history. That shit is, like, millions of years old!

  • SAU GEIL!!!

  • lol at categorizing "dubstep" into the speed of the beat ecetera.

  • What Program do you use for the presentation ?

    Thx

  • @Nicolas1ful .. Prezi.

  • Awesome explanation !

    Bass Nectar knows his stuff..

btw, this is about tempo's and rhythms, and how all genres influence each other, not about "I-invented-a-new-exotic-sub-sub-sub-genre-to-be-cool-this-month" ..

Sorry for you guys who were waiting on the someone-explaining-all-3-gazillion-of-those..

  • BOWOWOWOWOWOW

  • Yo Skrill drop it hard!

  • You are a God among your peers! Teach me o' great one lol

  • lol yanks trying to explain dubstep. ask the real creators.

    uk dubstep for life

  • Just like really fucking heavy.

  • BUNCHA CATS A BUNCHA CATS

  • i like prezi

  • ok people how are you going to say bassnectar has no idea what he is talking bout litsen to his shit he is more pro then you will ever get

  • Dude, thanks so much for breakin it down like that. I was curious about the distinctions with other genres of electronic music.

  • Spawn of Hip-Hop? Uhh no mate, it's a spawn of garage. Fail.

  • @chubstar666 think hes talking more about the drumbeat, plus also prolly modern dubstep, which has many different peice of genres here and there. It also sounds more like hes explaining drumstep seeing as most of his new beats are drumstep

  • No mention of garage!? O.o

  • @Kaikara05 he mentions 2-step which is a major subgenre of garage

  • 2:23 made me wanna hear more dubstep x)

  • maybe get someone that isnt fucking shit and actually knows what they are talking about next time? this genre defining shit is stupid.....maybe expaining how styles evolved from each other rather than waffling on about beat structure? sure, it would take longer to explain, but if you aint got 15 minutes to invest....maybe you're not that bothered about the music in the first place?
