@GhettoInnovationsDX I would get an alternator over a second batt if you can afford it. That is what charges your system when the car is on including your batteries. A second batt will add time/amps to listen with the car off, but it is only another load on your alternator which provides the majority of power with the vehicle on. If your amp is already choking your alt out, what will an additional load of a second battery do to it? HO Alt, then GIVER with the batteries.
@99Eternal .. batteries are a very important part of an electrical system. You don't need a HO alt that provides all your current. Batteries are meant to store power. Lets say you hit a heavy bass part of the song. Your amp will have to draw from your batteries for a little bit. but then it dies down. Your batteries will recharge in that span. Although an HO alt never hurts you could pull 2k to 3k on a stock alternator as you long as you got the batteries for it. Make sure they charge.

That's exactly the point of my calculations. That even in the best case scenario a 105 amp would put out only ~1500 watts minus what your car's other electronic systems are using...

@GhettoInnovationsDX What are you running though? 105amp alt should be good for up to around 1000RMS. (14.4vx105a=1512watts, and your vehicle electrical requires 20-40amps depending on the vehicle (up to 576 watts).
Don't get me wrong, a battery would help either way, and youd definately want a good one if you upgrade your alt to a 200-300amp. I just don't agree that a battery upgrade is better than an alt upgrade. The alt is the ultimate source of power (except when vehicle is off).
I''m home audio guy and since every thing i work with is rated at 8 ohm, 4 ohm seems alot less.
I know there is alot of debate about quality and resistance but the mids and high i never run them less than 6-ohm for quality,woofer at 4 ,i have never even considerd running somthing at .25 ohm,and i love my amps ,my wires has resistance more than this

@MrFatman212 - Nah, it was just an on-camera blooper - You'd be surprise how many people get tongue tied when I hold a camera to their faces LOL. Something about the little red light makes almost everyone stumble over their words.
Even if you count the flare an say it even a 9 in flare like mine were when I had 6 in ports, times 3 of them its only 190 ins of port.
Also, flaring has nothing to do with tricking an making it think its more port my friend. Think hydro dynamics, it's for more of a flow transition thing.
The whole point of a flare is that the rounded portion acts like a wider port, creating the equivalent port noise of a bigger port (+.4 dB) in a much smaller package. He is probably counting the outer flare area as his port area... sure its not his EFFECTIVE port area but flare is good so if it'd flared 85 sq in to 360 that's dope as hell

@AnythingLoud yea who is doing the math on that guys port area? 3 6" aeroports DOES NOT = "over 360 square inches of port area". IT EQUALS 85.59. how to calculate port area is pi x (radius x radius)= port area. if you have more than one aero than you multiply that port area by how many ports you have. don't know what that guy got his diploma from.
@QuestioningAnswers i got my p1000 RF amp at a .35 ohm i think its at and it keeps goin into protection mode maybe i need more power or a amp that will handle it but i was actually looking at a dtr 3400 is it a good amp for the low impedience ohm loads?
@420basshead420 Well I know an amp like the dtr will handle it better than the RF hah. Fosgates usually don't like anything below 1 ohm. Many soundstream amps are meant to run very low impedances such as half an ohm.
@kickerlivinloud94 yeah, maybe close to being as loud, but it would also sound like shit, SOLO X 18's are sloppy as hell when it comes to SQ, those SoundStream XXX 15s have some excellent SQ from those "paper cones"
@scottyBoland ya well if i was you i would have went with the fi btl's they are my favorite by far they are cheaper and they have the highest sound quality in my opinion
@kickerlivinloud94 are you kidding? my BL's have excellent SQ and get pretty down for 2.5" coils. the BTLs are pretty unforgiving at low volume no softness, control, just hard cold tones. there great subwoofers just don't have that brilliance at lower volumes that i was looking for
@orgaudio The ports are outside of the box to allow the right tuning frequency. Because they are on the outside, they take up less room in the box and they may not have even been able to fit in the box

It doesn't look like your pushing them all the way. They're maybe a little over half of what thier full xmas is. They're each 8500 watts rms = 17,000 watts max or burp, which ever you want to call it. So you need at least 17000 watts worth of amp to push those at their RMS rating. If you had that, You'd probably be hitting around the 160s easy.
what did u use to connect the DTR's? they dont have a line out, i was thinking about gettin them but i want to run 2 and i dont know if i should use Y splitters or if there is a better way

Sorry. but ahhhh.. ummm is it just me or does he need to go back to school for some math? 360 sq inchs of port? I know this is an old video an all but you cant have eveyone seeing this an thinking that when they go to do their build. Sq inch of round = r/2x2x3.14.... 1 6in is 28.26 in2 an he's got three of them... 85 inchs sq ruffly of port my friend.... but nice set up!

IT EQUALS 85.59. how to calculate port area is pi x (radius x radius)= port area. if you have more than one aero than you multiply that port area by how many ports you have. don't know what that guy got his diploma from.

@420basshead420 Well I know an amp like the dtr will handle it better than the RF hah. Fosgates usually don't like anything below 1 ohm. Many soundstream amps are meant to run very low impedances such as half an ohm.

@kickerlivinloud94 are you kidding? my BL's have excellent SQ and get pretty down for 2.5" coils. the BTLs are pretty unforgiving at low volume no softness, control, just hard cold tones. there great subwoofers just don't have that brilliance at lower volumes that i was looking for

@orgaudio The ports are outside of the box to allow the right tuning frequency. Because they are on the outside, they take up less room in the box and they may not have even been able to fit in the box

Thh build is nice.
It doesn't look like your pushing them all the way. They're maybe a little over half of what thier full xmas is. They're each 8500 watts rms = 17,000 watts max or burp, which ever you want to call it. So you need at least 17000 watts worth of amp to push those at their RMS rating. If you had that, You'd probably be hitting around the 160s easy.
