catfish are not closely related to sharks, they have bones, while sharks have cartilage. I am not surprised that a catfish would eat a child, if it could swallow it though.

this doesn't surprise me, where I live there was a case about 30 years ago where a child was eaten by a catfish, believe it or not, catfish are a form of shark. If you go swimming make sure you don't go too far out.

Actually that is not a flathead it had a tail like an eel, it is from that river in europe where you catch carp and giant catfish, and channel cat fish can get 20 lbs + record is like 57 lbs so......
