  • good song dude

  • Because the world remembers this war and others, September 11 2001 had to happen. Only then the corrupt and greedy would have their new wars. Because the world remembers and don't believe in the good intensions of the U.S.A. and the intentions of ISRAEL the CRIMES on September 11 2001 had to happen. The world wants peace no wars.

  • What happened to all you guy's in college during Bush,s 8 YEARS. You could of helped stop Bush as we did with LBJ and Nixon. SDS has started up again. Help get the movement at your college

  • Breaking the law isn't protected free speech now matter how pumped you are. I think its hilarious the absolute only anti-war protesters at my campus are a group of old people who come out once a week.

And soldiers being poor people who can't go to college is a myth. There's actually a disproportionate amount of people in the military coming from higher paying jobs.

The actual figures show a minority of draftees were sent to Vietnam. Less than a 3rd of deaths there were draftees.

  • @ChetzNation The entire project encompassed much more than just this video segment. There were six total, one of which is also on YouTube (Dust Bowl/The Great Depression). They were utilized primarily to segue between discussion topics in which we had to provide extensive oral commentaries demonstrating our knowledge of the subject. I only received an A-, although I did succeed in making a few people cry.

  • RIP the young man at 3:33 who died 12 days after this photo was taken.

  • Nice job. Today's the 40th Anniversary of the Kent State shootings so I was searching around.

It's because there is no draft that there is not the massive student protests like there were during the Vietnam War; human nature just makes you more concerned if your life is on the line.

This video, though, shows that folks are still concerned. We continue to 'get it.' - that there are true patriots who oppose unnecessary invasions based on lies.

    Keep up the good work.

  • Dude..... I hope you got an A! This is a terrific video on so many levels. From the video and stills to the outstanding audio, and excellent editing - this is a fantastic clip and I want to send you a standing ovation. Thank you for sharing with the world. On the eve of the 40th anniversary of May 4th in Kent - lets all take a minute to remember the past - think about the present - and not repeat history.

  • U.S. and the Vietnam War = FAIL.

  • Those soldiers marchin in a line with their bayonets and gas masks is soooo totally BA.

  • Comment removed

  • The image of 3:33 is that of Marine Gunner John Wilson who later was KIA 12 days later after photo was taken. When ever I see this image of him, he looks like the actor Kurt Russell and hockey legend Bobby Orr of the Bruins. Notice the resemblance?

  • the photographer was killed too in vietnam. spooky shit.

  • If this ever happens again, I will defect to france or sweden, there is no point to bloodshed for monetary gain

  • What do you think is happening right now in Iraq and Afghanistan? It's Vietnam all over again. But where are the students protesting in the streets? I mostly see middle-aged women like Cindy Sheehan and the Mothers in Black. Where is the outrage from the young generation who are supposed to be the idealists?

  • I couldn't have said it better my self. WTG Mitchshredder.

  • @mitchshredder There's no draft anymore thanks to the protests like the one at Kent State and all over America. If there was, you bet your booty that there would be similar riots! Those that are in the army now are choosing to be there, that's the difference I believe. A lot of them young men and women without the means to go to university to get an education sign up to learn a life-long skill and get an education. BIG difference from then to now.

  • If anything like Kent State happens again, all pigs are on the menu. Filthy pigs. Slaughtering children doesn't make anyone free.

  • its a crowed of 1000's of ppl like ur self that cause these kinds of fuckups! im sure those ppl were not just standing there quietly not doing anything at all to provoke the soldiers.the war still happened and protesting did nothing at all to stop it. it never does so why bother disrupting a collage with protesting? Kent state didnt send ppl to war so why should they have to be in the middle of dumb ppl's shit?

  • @strongbad73 Biggest fool ever. 'Well, the Nazis weren't gassing ME to death, so why should I protest?' says the passive German student in the Third Reich. And they weren't provoking enough for a heavily armed NG unit to shoot people to death. Surprise surprise, sometimes the Army/ Government DOES in fact act wrongly.

  • @uuu8 well u were not there so dont speak like u know what happened and the germans were fucking crazy racist pieces of shit and no one would dare to speak out against the nazis's or they would have been shot without question so dont compare the NG with the nazis. what happened was aweful but the NG wouldnt have been there if the protesters were not acting up. there are protests then there are crowds of angry aggressive ppl that could turn into a riot.ppl die in riots too, who are u gonna blame

  • @uuu8 after a bunch of ppl die because a protest turned into a riot? let me guess, the NG cuz they didnt step in and stop the riot right? i know u! ur the kinda person that likes to point fingers from the outside of a situation having no clue what going on at the time.

  • @strongbad73 Well, you basic argument seems to be that the NG stepped in to diffuse an awful situation, so good on them. But you don't seem to realise that it was a complete overeaction. There are many ways to stop a riot without shooting protestors. It was never that violent, and was all on campus anyway, it's not like they were going to attack each other.

  • @uuu8 ever think that maybe they were shot purposly to discourage and scare people from protesting in future. It may not have been a mistake.Seems like the protest slowed drastically after that point.but i dont really know about that.I was 4 at the time. But it could have been deliberate.I wouldnt put it past our govt.today there are no protest.or at least they are not reported.Ive never seen a time in my life where the news ignores the wars to report about celebrities instead

  • @smithdsmit You know ... I agree with you. The government of the time would have gone to any lengths to stop what had become a world-wide anti-war, anti-Vietname phenomenon. Yes, the protesting did slow down but Kent State really soured, in a big way the attitude toward the war and the powers that be by the masses. It was hard for people to stomach ... it still is!

  • @strongbad73 Young men just out of high school were being plucked out of their homes by the government and drafted into the armed forces to go across the world, into a jungle to kill and be killed. Get serious ... if there was a draft today you'd see plenty of this sort of thing. There's a reason it wasn't just kids protesting but suburbanites, clergy, parents, teachers, entertainers and NOT just hippies. People were literally fighting for their lives.

  • Bye, it's happening again, in case you haven't figured it out yet.

  • A fight that liberated a very opressed 3rd world country paid for by not only American Youth but also Children of America with a Patriotic Spirit of All people in this World should be FREE!!! MAY ALL WHO DIED IN THIS HELLISH WAR FIND PEACE IN HEAVEN AMEN!!!

  • wizr :Heaven is for angels, not for devils

  • what a wild time it must have been to live during this era

  • I lived during this time: It wasn't so great. It was pretty scary, especially for a little kid hearing that students(STUDENTS) had been murdered at Kent State by other Americans....You want a wild time?Your living it now bub.

  • I am sorry it is time for a revolution

  • guess we missed the train for that mate... bit late

  • That time has come and gone my friend dudlea48.

  • No need to apologize...the rev. will happen...

  • Universities teach and promote the necessity of FREE SPEECH yet time and again Ohio State Universities are silencing those who do so. Why is this?

Two fathers demonstrated at Columbus State University for Equal parenting rights. They climbed a crane with a banner about EQUAL parenting rights.

Donald Tenn and Paul Fisher of fathers-4-justice are going to PRISON for 18 months for this act of free speech.

I guess it is a good thing that they too were not shot and killed for FREE SPEECH

  • @F4JCAMERA

    climbing cranes is illegal.

there is a reason why society does not allow crane climbing.

put your message out without climbing cranes, and there will be no problem.

  • @ohnoitsrose I'm pretty sure they didn't get 18 years for climbing a fucking crane

  • in the future we should make automated war machines so we don't lose any men. twice the kill, less protest =)

  • great video and compilation. Some explanatory text might help ?

I want to do the same thing ... use this song for a backdrop to some videos I have or malicious code enforcement by the City of Fort Lauderdale. Any suggs on what software to use that does not crash with wIN 98SE ?

  • Please check out my Vietnam vet documentary -- and tell your friends. I need views to completion attract funds.

    search: afamreport

    Thank you.

  • ASK YOURSELF When history repeats itself , will you notice? Peace, lets end the war

  • You're not lying. My mother just got done telling me how disappointed she is in our generation. Were doing nothing to even let our voices be heard...she's right.

  • there were a few more protests that never really mde much of the news but your right people need to do more to be heard

  • @fatal3rr Amen .. I too am disappointed in the apathy and laziness I see. Kids don't seem to fight for or against anything these days. Its a crying shame really.

  • thank you for this video. peace.

  • YES PEACE BE WITH YOU and YOU and the unknown YOU but to preserve THE PEACE sometimes you must SPEAK OUT FOR THE OPRESSED that cannot SPEAK FREELYand defend those that are opressed with WAR because of THE INJUSTICE to a people that deserve as any PEACE

  • nice, and cool

  • On 911 America was blindsided (Out of the Blue). As you know we have since went INTO THE BLACK. Our Constitution and way of life is Compromised and YOU have since been stripped of many of your Guaranteed Rights including the writ of Habeas Corpus. • thanks for a great vid. regrettably 40 years from now somebody will post another vid about iraq - but there'll be no protesters and nothing even close to the moody blues. have we lost our way?

  • yes, we have. Sad as it is.

  • @phishfearme2 I think the main reason people today do not protest the wars is because. The media doesnt report on it.so it's out of sight out of mind.Do you think the reporters of today really enjoy spending half their carrers reporting on american idol contestants and other celbrity news.I think they are told what they can and can not report on.Remember during the gulf war.there was 24 hr coverage of it on cnn. Now current wars in Iraq and afghanistan are barely mentioned.keeping us in the dark

  • @smithdsmit Also there is no draft. The draft is what mobilized the society. It is this mobilization and protesting that did away with the draft. Soldiers today enlist and choose to be wherever there is conflict ... big difference.

  • @phishfearme2

    also.

    Vietnam was a draft.

Today (especially in Canada) it's nearly impossible to go to the middle east. There's long waiting lines, even to get into the military.

Like somebody else said below, very large difference.

I do agree on the moody blues comment.

  • Great Vid! Never connected the Moody Blues Question with the Vietnam War. The photos and video mix really fit the lyrics. Makes you wonder how many others today are looking for someone to change their life...

  • =0 im4eversmart!!! you made a vid of my parent's home country?! wow

  • IF YOU ARE A FREE VIETNAMESE CITIZEN WAS IT WORTH YOUR AMERICAN BROTHERS BLOOD TO FIGHT FOR THE FREEEDOM OF VIETNAM? I AS MANY BEFORE ME "HOPE THE BLOODSHED WAS NOT IN VEIN! r

R.I.P. JERRY THERE ARE FREE MEN IN VIETNAM THAT HAD MANY BROTHERS LOST IN PAYING FOR FREEDOM AS WE DID! VIETNAM WAS NOT IN VEIN!!!!!!!

  • Vietnam blood was shed from veins, and entirely in vain. It was vanity to think you could make Vietnam a free country by slaughtering their children. You war mongers make me sick.

  • Nice vid.
