very nice aria, but it must be the beginning of her recital, and she is fighting to find her vocal space. Her high notes (F- B flat "abend sinkt im hag") are full of shrill harmonics, she is barely on tune sometimes , and she can't keep it piano for fear of shifting .
It can happen to the best. I mean look at the video of dame Kiri te Kanawa singing the very same aria on a spanish TV show, she is just as uncomfortable!
Don't we all experience a nasty bout of stage fear... even the best. ;-).
@scienceandmusiclover I merely expressed my personal opinion of this performance - this is, after all, a discussion forum. You need to accept the fact that sometimes people do not agree with you. Instead of posting such immature and condescending remarks, why don't you discuss the actual music?
@scienceandmusiclover You don't know me or anything about me, yet you jump to all sorts of conclusions about my character, simply because I don't like this particular performance? Wow. There's a term in Freudian psychology called 'projection' which might account for this. The only one here showing disrespect and being condescending is you. Instead of getting all offended by people who disagree with you, you should argue your case soundly rather than attack them. This is too silly.
@scienceandmusiclover Again, I simply stated an opinion which happened to be contrary to yours, and for this I have been repeatedly insulted by you and your condescending remarks. The only one here who is displaying 'attitude' and being unkind is you, yet you feel entitled to remove posts simply because you don't like them. These are methods worthy of North Korea. Oh, well, you have wasted enough of my time. Take care.
This version of "Korngold | Die Tote Stadt - »Glück, das mir verblieb" is so good, but there are very few posts. At first I thought that was bad. However, if one looks at other channels, it appears the compulsive haters simply haven't discovered this one yet. I hope they never do. Thanks again to 67amelia.
I have chased this beautiful opera all over YouTube, and each time I find a different interpretation, it seems more pleasing than the last. Now I realize they are all wonderfully different. My preference at any instance depends on my mood. Thank you for this one.
oh oh, man sieht ihr die konzentration und die anstrengung zur erreichung der hohen tönte doch sehr an.

Personally I do not find her voice that good, and her interpretation seems a bit forced.

Das ist wirklich sehr langweilig. Und welche künstlerische Aussage hat das Augenrollen?

I'm unfamiliar with Ms. Krieger; but, she has a beautiful lyric voice. Thanks for posting this vid, amelia.
