I wish I was at that gig, cos if I was, I would've gone up to Russell...shaken his hand... and said mate, that was bloody superb. But since I wasn't at the gig I'll just say it here, mate, that was bloody superb.
Wow ... Russell is singing better than ever. I am amazed and impressed! This is wonderful! Thank you for posting and all the best to Russell and the band - I really enjoyed this!
Russell Morris and Brian Cadd with Chooka Parker 21 October 7.45pm Regent Cinemas, Ballarat.!!! see Regent website for more details. Cheers and peace!!
saw Russell Morris for the first time on 14th August 2011 in Geelong, what beautiful songs, Australia is blessed to have a talent like him, love going through all the Youtube videos, brilliant.
Absolutely Brilliant!!! - Even better than your original, as always, like a good wine, men get better with age ~ someone PLEASE let me know when this FANTASTIC voice of a man is playing in Melbourne....
"couldnt get anyone to record it"... it almost defies belief. I used to sing this to my daughter when she was a still a baby, and it still makes me shiver. You always were and always will be one of the true legends of Oz music... and that damn voice really does just keep getting better.
Russell I also grew up listening to you - really talented musician and beautiful singing that still take my breath away. Beautiful harmonising - I grew up when artists like you made us feel alive.
Having been once the lead singer in a band with Peter Robinson, I just have to say after seeing this that I am proud of him and that he has followed his passion. I wish I had had the same drive when instead I am but to relish in a distant memory of what once was and what, perhaps, could have been. Talent will out Pete. Well done.
singer/guitarist/songwriter EXTRORDINAIRE, an aussie music legend, he's as good as there is out there still breathing air. I've seen him around 6 times the past few years, doing gigs with either Brian Cadd, or Jim Keyes (masters app) and Daryl Cotton, as Cotton Keyes and Morris singing all their hits and then some.
WOW!!! Russell you are an absolute legend. My DOB 1971-Irrespective!!! I hope this shows the depth in which you've hit!!! Coming on 11/11/10 to u'r live show. RESPECT!!!!!!
Just saw Russell Morris in the super group The Travellers (with Darryl Braithwaite, Joe Camilleri and Brian Cadd) at the South Coast Blues Festival in Batemans Bay and he sang this and I remember it so well. Just gives me tears of joy.
Whe I fly to Australia in April 2011, I will be looking up where Russell will be playing, and hopefully I get to see the legend in the flesh. He was a legend at my school and so was this song and other songs he sang. How cool that he is still going strong and that voice of his, was not studio generated but an absolute gift from above. Na na na, na na na na naH. lol
What a voice! Almost 40 years after the original release and Russell sounds as good- possibly better! Makes you wonder about 'singers' who have their voice "layered" 30 times in the studio for one track. Thank you Tecoma Cowboy for making this footage available.
I also saw him and Brian in concert on 21/8/2010 while I was in Melbourne and it was the best concert and I loved him singing this song especially when he holds that note about a minute into song, I got goose bumps when he did :-)
Am looking forward to seeing Russell perform in Coffs Harbour tomorrow night. It's going to be a great show - along with his mates Cotton & Keyes. I grew up in Melbourne in their hey-day also, so their music is a part of my youth !
I was fortunate enough to meet him after one of his gigs in Melbourne in the eighties, very nice man, humble, and pleasant to speak with. Had time for all.
@mrruston22 My pleasure mate..... It was a privilege to be part of the camera crew that night. There are other songs from the gig on my channel..glad u enjoyed it.
It's sometimes sad to see and hear artist's long after their heyday BUT Russell Morris isn't one of them.He may have less hair !! but his voice if anything sounds better now than it did.A real talent. Can i somehow claim him as a kiwi? The aussies can keep Russell Crowe!!!
I'm a born again Russell Morris fan. Never tire of listening to his voice. I even bought his Real Thing CD compilation, the first CD I've bought in decades. Long may he live!
What a performance...36years later, who can improve on there own work after such time. A Legend thats who. (Thank God Farnham never got it). Russell Morris you are one of Australia,s finest talents,Part of an Elite group,I Have been so lucky to have grown up listening to some of the greatest artist this country has had to offer, And you are one of them.

@muirkirk1 So am I , I still have the single, I remember having the "record player " I had in Uk and the needle wearing out and devising a way to use a fine sewing needle attatched to the cartridge so that I could play the single ( ouch) going to see him with the great Brian Cadd on Aug 7th at Blacktown Workers ( how the mighty have fallen) at least they are still with us playing great music.
@muirkirk1 ....... it certainly is song is one of favourites of all time but only when Russell sings it........... he is just amazing... always has been, always will be ... :)

I agree with you tilhaztizi ... I reckon he would have sung it all "cutesy" like "Sadie the Cleaning Lady"! This song is Russell's and no-one can sing it as well as Russell can in my humble opinion.
