@DyingWithin you probably spilled some water near it, dropped it in water, whatever BEFORE it broke, and it just didn't retain any water damage, BUT the pink sensor still appeared.

So when your iphone/ ipod DID break, they chalked it up to water damage because of the pink sensor from before

The water indicator is a bunch of bullshit! I sent my ipod-touch for replacement and they sent it back to me because 1 indicator was tripped-- Bull, It never even came close to water-- the only thing that it can be is that it was the humidity or they tripped it to "Void" the warranty.... Nice loophole and scam in your bullshit so called "Warranty".....

My ipwn fell in the toilet (stupid Apple directional vibration!) and shut down. A few hours in 91% isopropyl and a day drying off and it's been working better than before now for months. The LCD does show some artifacts, but only when viewed on angle, so I'm sticking with 2G. I tried a 3G and it was rubbish! I couldn't even make it through half a day without a recharge! Let's hope the $G, I mean 4G, will take all the good of the past models and leave out the bad.

to change that get an eyedrop bottle with liquid chlorine.....put a drop in the earphone jack thing....and let it sit for about 20 sec then let it out or dry it whichever way u can after 1-3 times it should turn white and bam go get ur iphone fixed if u still have waranty.....i did and i got my new iphone 3g :-)

There is also a sensor in the charger area. The Apple girl used one of those tools doctor's use to look in your ear to see it. Othger than that it is hard to see with the naked eye. (p.s.) mine was 1/4th pink, she said fromsitting it in a wet cup holder or from the charger connector being wet which I thought would do much more damage than I have. (My speaker doesn't work at all!) Everyting eles is fine. If you can help with that please let me know!

before you get it wet:

put a tenth of a ml of transparent shoe goo on the very tip of your headphones, put it in, take it out, then when ur ipod gets wet the sensor will be blocked with the shoe goo and apple wont be the wiser.
