I go to public school even though my parents can afford to send me and my siblings to private school. my parents just didn't want it because they both went to public school and are doing very well in their lives now. I don't know why everyone on here thinks kids in public school are poor. As soon as the juniors in my schools get their liscenses, most of them are gaurenteed a cars- BMWs,acuras etc Idk if its just the upper middle class area I live in but most families in the district have money.

I think it's more dependent on the school. Having gone to both, I vastly prefer private school. Obviously public school is easier because they have to cater to the lowest common denominator, but it's not just that. The kids were a lot ruder, the teachers weren't as helpful, and the big environment didn't feel much like a community... At public school, they were also a lot more laid back when it came to sports. People ditched practice all the time with no repercussions.

So you could say there is some healthy competition, but i am in the top 5% of our cohort. 98% of our graduates go to college, compared to an average of 10% in public schools. Private school is better in my oppinion because there are waaaay more druggies in public and private schools have ALOT more structure and are more diciplined. and typically the work is harder in private schools and the teachers tend to be better. also, in private schools they make you take the classes that will help you in college and in the future and in public they have alot of "fluff" classes.

I went to private school from preschool to 8th grade. Im attending a college prep school, and it is the best ive ever experienced. Private schools are way better then public schools. But the thing that ppl thnk that we ppl pay is that it really isnt cheap? GET IT? I think it depends more on the student then the school. If you but a determined kid in public school they have just as much of an opportunity as a kid in private school. Then again, if you but a crap student in a private school, it still wont guarantee they will do well.
Our public scools are designed for one perpose in mind only: to breed gays. Since gays cannot reproduce, liberal teechers must turn non-gays into gays, and they do it in the scools wile our childrens are still young. Being the smart Christian conservutive that I am, I catched on to this deevius plan and pulled my 3 young boys from the communist public scools. From now on, they will be home-scooled only.
i have gone to private skool mii whole life and next year i have to go to a public skool mii sister says it iss way better than private skool she went to private skool all the way up to ninth grade and she thinks public skools have a lot more opportunities for kids because the private skool we went to was basically paying for daycare
private schools offer a higher education and are raising the future CEO's and heads of company's however, the students can be rich and spoiled and get away with almost anything. Public schools offer a lower education and most likely are going to work for private school kids. however, they prepare you for the cruelty in life. eg: i had a camp counselor who went to a public school and he got stabbed so private schools might be safer, but public schools make you tougher.

I disagree, I go to a private school and there are really stupid people here, everyone does drugs and aren't caught, and there are openly gay people who show affection. I have no problem with homosexuality though, from what I researched (and experienced from friends,) puplic school kids are more focused on actually learning the material, hardly take drugs, and think about their future, (which I never thought of untill my public school friends mentioned it to me.)
I came in the top 1% in the state for extension 2 english and also was awarded with an art scholarship by the National Gallery of Australia, only one of 2 in the state. The other NSW candidate didn't go to a private school either.
Nobody believes me when I say that some of the most qualified teachers across the state were put into that school in order to clear the name and help break the cycle of such a poor socio economic class.
Wait till you get to uni. It seems that the higher payed schools attended by the undergrads correlate with a lower IQ. Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if many of those students were actually fee paying students.
I went to a public school, it was horrible, so I moved in year 11 to another public school, in Mt Druitt.

I go to public school even though my parents can afford to send me and my siblings to private school. my parents just didn't want it because they both went to public school and are doing very well in their lives now. I don't know why everyone on here thinks kids in public school are poor. As soon as the juniors in my schools get their liscenses, most of them are gaurenteed a cars- BMWs,acuras etc Idk if its just the upper middle class area I live in but most families in the district have money.

I think it's more dependent on the school. Having gone to both, I vastly prefer private school. Obviously public school is easier because they have to cater to the lowest common denominator, but it's not just that. The kids were a lot ruder, the teachers weren't as helpful, and the big environment didn't feel much like a community... At public school, they were also a lot more laid back when it came to sports. People ditched practice all the time with no repercussions.

I am smarter than any public school child, most people in my school are ultra intelligent and on par with each other, who strive to do their best in everything. So you could say there is some healthy competition, but i am in the top 5% of our cohort. 98% of our graduates go to college, compared to an average of 10% in public schools. Private school is better in my oppinion because there are waaaay more druggies in public and private schools have ALOT more structure and are more diciplined. and typically the work is harder in private schools and the teachers tend to be better. also, in private schools they make you take the classes that will help you in college and in the future and in public they have alot of "fluff" classes.

Ok I've been to a public and private school and haven't seen one difference, peopl doing drugs, having sex ect except I have to say it's much worse in private schools (the sex) for some odd reason o-0 and the people were less friendly. In publc schools you don't really get capped for "dissing your homies" and in public schools there's barely any bullying at least not that much in high schools.

I think Private schools are way better. I went to a public school for a 2 years and hated it. First of all, all the kids were jerks, and secondly I learned nothing in a classroom of 35 kids. I don't understand why people hate private schools. I bet most of you have not even been to one saying that.

I totally agree with you, in a public school the teachers have to dumb themselves down to teach and cater to the lowest common denominators of society. The kids are shocking, there up themselves, they fight for ridiculous reasons, do drugs, come from poor backgrounds, are disruptive, and make it impossible to learn. I went to a public school for 2 months in my first year, i should know. Now my current Gpa is 4.5, i go to a school with extraordinary teachers, and good work.

I went to private school from preschool to 8th grade. Im attending a college prep school, and it is the best ive ever experienced. Private schools are way better then public schools. But the thing that ppl thnk that we ppl pay is that it really isnt cheap? GET IT? COLLEGE PREP HIGHSCHOOL TUITION COST MY PARENTS 18,900$ per year, ad its not just me! me and 4 of my brothers and sisters are attending the school. The last thing really is that inorder to have 1 on 1 with a teacher that will help you

i go to a private school. i attended a public school and that was not so bad at all. but i just want to say that private school isnt so bad. we have to take 7 classes, including religion. you DONT have to be catholic though. My school is a college prep school,so its a lot of work, but worth it. i encourage others to go to catholic schools.
PS. i think that most of the things said from public school kids are stereotypes.
You can only truly know which is better unless you have been to both.

I go to private school and i like it. i've never been to public school. and ALOT of people think we are all stuck up and rich but most of the people in my school and nice and middle class :) and it also has a really good education, for example my regular biology book is the honors biology book at a public school nearby. but im not saying public school are bad i'm just saying that private schools are good. :)

I go to a private school (in Australia) and hate it, too many rules/restrictions and stricter punishments as well as more work. There are also lots of bullies in private schools (they mainly bully the kids who can't afford the latest video games, electronics etc). I used to go to a public school, and it was awesome.

Privat school suck. My mom sent me to a Catholic school near by for Kindergarten and First grade only so I wouldn't end up Mormon like the majority of my father's family. I got a terrible education and immediatley became a humongous outcast that didn't learn to read or add until he took what Elmo and Big Bird were saying seriously. Send your kids to public school or home school them with PBS kids.
By the way, I ended up being a Pastafarian.

When I was in private school when I was little, I wasn't social and I was in kindergarten and they were going to hold me back in kindergarten and not go to 1st grade because I wasn't passing the grade of being social.Which was a stuiped dumb rule. But I was moved into a public school into 1st grade. Just imagine keep on repeating kindergarten?!?! and i'm doing fine now.... Public school FTW!

I think it depends more on the student then the school. If you but a determined kid in public school they have just as much of an opportunity as a kid in private school. Then again, if you but a crap student in a private school, it still wont guarantee they will do well.

both have pro's and cons.
private schools offer a higher education and are raising the future CEO's and heads of company's however, the students can be rich and spoiled and get away with almost anything. Public schools offer a lower education and most likely are going to work for private school kids. however, they prepare you for the cruelty in life. eg: i had a camp counselor who went to a public school and he got stabbed so private schools might be safer, but public schools make you tougher.

I disagree, I go to a private school and there are really stupid people here, everyone does drugs and aren't caught, and there are openly gay people who show affection. I have no problem with homosexuality though, from what I researched (and experienced from friends,) puplic school kids are more focused on actually learning the material, hardly take drugs, and think about their future, (which I never thought of untill my public school friends mentioned it to me.)

I came in the top 1% in the state for extension 2 english and also was awarded with an art scholarship by the National Gallery of Australia, only one of 2 in the state. The other NSW candidate didn't go to a private school either.

Wait till you get to uni. It seems that the higher payed schools attended by the undergrads correlate with a lower IQ. Infact, I wouldn't be surprised if many of those students were actually fee paying students.
I went to a public school, it was horrible, so I moved in year 11 to another public school, in Mt Druitt.
