In an effort to encourage home ownership the Federal Government started guaranteeing mortgages. Some banks took advantage of this and expanded their loans recklessly. This situation was aggravated by the Federal Reserve keeping interest rates low and a society focused on easy credit.
So who's responsible, the Federal Government, the Federal Reserve, the commercial banks or insolvent borrowers? I think there's plenty of blame to go around.
@studentofsmith Who initiated the action to allow the checks and balances to flood wide open? Its not which company fucked up, its who started this action. Who were the group, or family, or both that encouraged this to actually be able to happen in reality? Someone in control made that decision, not consumers. Consumers sat idle when it happend, because they are just that, consumers, sheep for cheep Chinese goods. The government feeds us a blind patriotic materalistic lifestyle backed by credit
