A simple peck on the cheek says so much more than words ! If you really wanna save yourself from heartbreak get on the right track a give that person that means the most too your HEART a warm kiss . Don't let it go too bad before it's too late ....:

  • Tom hasnt wrote a song that i havent liked really. Hes an excellent song writer and hes got Mike Campbell to lay down the lead licks that are just great. There are only a few bands that have suceeded in the music business 30 plus years. Thanks for all your years of great song's Tom and the Heratbreakers !

  • I always enjoy Mr. Campbell, love tom he is just filler really...

  • Tom Petty reminds me of a guy who mugged me in New York one time with a .357 Magnum revolver. But I've never blame it on him...YOU'RE ALWAYS, OH, SO COOL, TOM!!!

  • great song- tom petty is a freak ( and he ain't pretty) but he is cool..

cambell sure was working hard on that song- I would have played that on a semi hollowbody gretsch but still sounded good..

  • Tom fliped her off at 55

  • Drums of Raemonn's Supergirl (German band) hit in the early 00's of this century remind me of this song when I heard it the first time...

  • 1 person didnt get lucky :P

  • @guitarcro true

  • If you can do better than me,then go! Love these lyrics! ♥ Love Tom!! ♥ We all got lucky babe when his dad gave him $35.00 to buy his first guitar! ♥

  • In my opinion, this is one of the coolest live guitar solos ever! Love Mike Campbell!

  • @TheThebassman23 I'd say Mike and Alex Lifeson from RUSH are 2 guitarists that don't get enough recognition.

  • Man, he was one hell of a driver too. No wait that was Richard. I love this original MTV video for this song. I would watch it everyday before I got on the bus in elementary. great classic song to this day 2011.

  • 1 person never got lucky

  • What would you do if you could turn the time back to 1985? I know I would have tried hard to get to this guy's concert in Reno!!

  • i was barley born!!may 3

  • @09prizefighter09 You were born in a field of barley?

  • @africkinamerican ha right on barely....

  • I don't think people realize what a living legend this man really is. Phenomenal talent, just an one of a kind music icon. A living legend.

  • I Love how little Mike Campbell shows off , one of the best .

  • tom petty is fukin wonderfol!!!!!!

  • Too bad they don't make this music anymore. Todays music sucks. Tom Petty LIVE 4EVER :-)))))

  • Great guitar on this.

  • petty is the heart ,campbell is the soul

  • It is so funny how all these loud mouth athletes talk so much crap and aren't even that spectacular when compared with Mike Cambell. He is so quiet and lets all his fingers do the talking. What a player that guy is.

  • You got lucky babe...When I found you......

  • It's a shame I'm only 15, I would've loved to see Petty back in his prime... It'd still be great to see him now though

  • @PicciProductions I think it's so great that people like you, folks who are only 15, appreciate Tom Petty and recognize his greatness. And yeah, it's too bad you weren't able to see him like I did back when his star was first ascending in the late '70's. I saw him first in August of '79, playing at the Universal Amphitheater in L.A. for a crowd of 6,000. It was a revelation; it was like seeing a birth, the birth, the beginning of greatness. I saw him that New Year's Eve in San Francisco.

  • @TVC15ohoh Im 14 and I've seen him in concert, It is too bad that I couldnt see him in the 80's or 70's. I love Tom Petty and wont stop loving his music. Rock and Roll!!

  • @haden267 Very cool. Your home page says you're 28. Either way, whatever your age, I'm glad you like Petty, though if you are in fact 14, I'd have to add that that impresses me. Only 14 and on to Petty? Good job! Feel free to talk music with me or ask for recommendations/opinions on artists/bands/albums/songs - I'm a blabbermouth and love yacking about music, and I'm all too happy to turn you on to any number of musics out there. Will you be seeing Petty on his current tour?

  • @TVC15ohoh I've loved bands like Van Halen, Rush, KISS, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, and Ozzy since I was eleven. I love talking about rock and roll. I collect Vinyl Records of all 70's and 80's classic rock bands.

  • @haden267 Well well. Quite the music man, you are. Eleven was the age I officially got into "real music" as opposed to children's albums, or The Monkees (know who they are?) and that very first album I owned was a rather good one I must say: "Revolver" by the Beatles. Rolling Stone magazine did a "Top 500 albums of all time" thing a few years ago and Revolver came in third! (Sgt Pepper was, of course, number one, as it deserves to be.) Have you discovered Led Zeppelin yet? Bowie? The Stones?

  • @TVC15ohoh i know who the monkees are, i hear em on radio sometime- im a believer!! oh my god do i love led zeppelin i cant even have a fav song. bowie is aweosme i mean he was MARC BOLANS FRIEND how cool is that. the stones i have their t-shirts, age doesnt affect mcjagger!!! dude if u live in LA u should check out thesoundla 100.3 fm i listen to them everyday, they play beatles, stones, floyd, led, bob seger everyday

  • @ixcreme Thanks for the radio tip. I do indeed have 100.3 set on my radio dial and yeah, for older stuff, it's one of my favorites. We used to have a radio station here called "Indie 103" (103.1 on the FM dial) and they were the best radio station in at least 20 years, after KROQ's '80's heyday. The DJ's were allowed to play anything they wanted - anything - just like rock radio in the '70's, and man, I heard EVERYTHING there, from Sinatra to the Sex Pistols. Amazing station. They're gone now.

  • @TVC15ohoh 100.3 rocks they are like playing a whole led zeppelin side atm,

  • @TVC15ohoh hey are radios station allowed to play sublime- what i got ? i heard it on the radio and it says fuck

  • @PicciProductions This is part two. By New Year's Eve, the audience size was 15,000+. And who opened for him at that show? Chuck Berry! And even then, over 20 years past his heyday, Berry ROCKED! Petty did a lot of touring in the early '80's and I saw him twice in L.A., in 1980 and in '81 at the Forum. Some of those songs are on his Live Anthology Box Set, something every Petty fan MUST own. Petty's had waves of greatness and he's in one now. Do see him during this tour. Mojo's GREAT!

  • @TVC15ohoh Yes, today I bought the Runnin Down A Dream documentary, I've already seen it but it's amazing. I saw that Live Anthology Box Set but I didn;t have enough money for it! When I get a job that is a must have for me.

  • @PicciProductions Well, you can get 80% of the songs that are part of the Live Anthology Box Set if you just buy the regular Live Anthology four CD set. That sells for all of $20. When you have the money to burn later, THEN spend the big bucks and get the box set. Also, as I'm sure you know, MOJO comes out June 15th. Best Buy's got it on sale for $9.99 this week. I tried writing you on your home page about all this but it seems you're not set up for that. What gives?

  • @TVC15ohoh It didn't work? That's weird..... Anyway I sent you a friend request if you ever wanna message me

  • @PicciProductions

You'e right. I'm fifteen either. I always wonder why the really good ones are like 60 today. I want a time machine =D

  • Damn they are good.....I was too early into my teenage years to talk my parents into going to concerts. Wish I could have gone to this one though.

  • love this song... sooooo simple. so real

  • MICHAEL B you are simply AMAZING!!!

  • When Stan was with the Heartbreakers he was the MAN. Today when Steve is with the Band. He`s the Man. I Love them Both.:)

  • actually i like steves drumming better than stans

  • I've seen them several times, all GREAT concerts.

  • saw them on this tour. Great show. The band is not the same without Stan Lynch's drumming.

  • Too bad I was only 4 years old when this came out...I've seen Petty 5 times live and I've never seen him play this live...which is too bad. This is one of my favorite Petty songs.

  • same here man. I have seen Tom 4 times and not once has he played this song. Always been one of my favorites also. I was fortunate to hear face in the crowd and rebels at the Gorge in 08 and insider and stop draggin my heart around with stevie nicks. so i guess im not going to complain lol.

  • Campbell is one of the most unique guitarists ever. His solos are so fucking amazing you can feel the emotion behind every note. No better combination than Mike's guitar and Tom's voice.

  • very under rated. Just cause he's not a shredder..put him in the same unsung hero category as Billy Gibbons of ZZ top/Mark Knopfler/and the guy from Fleetwood Mac(blanking on his name)

  • @StarFirewisp2

    he's so underrated.

  • @StarFirewisp2 Well said. Very underrated guitarest,

  • @StarFirewisp2 Whoever said Campbell never wasted a note in his life hit the nail right on the head.

  • @StarFirewisp2 Don't forget about Benmont, Stan, Howie/Ron. Just an unbelievable band.

  • this is the song that introduced me to Petty

  • why? the back ups were only for one tour he did. Its good to mix things up and try things diffrently...

  • Is that Jeff Lunne?

  • Lmao check out petty at 3:58

  • pettys checkin stany out, LMFAO

  • Simply THE BEST! Makes me wanna go back to the 80's and do it all over again!

  • sweeeeeeet

  • Bitch!!! U got lucky..ahahaaa!!! muthafucka!!

  • Humankind got lucky that Petty was born.

  • Damn right.

  • @neorunt LOVE PETTY!

  • @neorunt Humankind got lucky that he didn't let his dad talk him out of being in a band when he was younger. His dad resented him and beat on him for "being artsy" ... which is a great lesson for parents who don't approve their child's passions. you never know what you might be squashing.

  • @helmet959

My Dad talked me out of what I really wanted to do in life, which was to paint.

It wasn't 'practical enough', or 'normal enough'.

I don't blame him for it, I blame myself for not standing by the courage of my desire.

    Who knows what got squashed.

What he did was from love, but also a degree of selfishness.

    I think you understand.

  • @neorunt Totally agree! ♥

  • mikes really good

  • yea the best

  • one of the best, actually the three best are yngwie malmsteen mike and buck dharma

  • yo on Buck Dharma!

  • hey (nucleardude), your weird...

  • God he is so amazing...ive never had the connection to any music like I have with tom petty. He is in my opinion the greatest song writer of all time. I saw him in tour 3 years ago on my 17th birthday and it was the greatest experience of my life! I've never felt so high and I was completely sober ;)

  • u got lucky bitch when i found u

  • ahahah!!! nice one man! I agree with u 100%!!

  • The greaest singer alive, & ever!!!!! I'm sorry to the people who don't think that!!!

  • Gainesville, FL hometown boy! Love ya, Tom!

  • this is the bomb what a transcending sound. so sweet

  • This Song is Awsome Live.

    God i love Mike Campbell.

  • tom petty is the best artist alive! he needs to tour again cus i missed the last one ):

  • no kidding, i've always been a big fan of his and loved all his songs that I hear

but I ordered the Runnin' down a dream 4 disc set and now i'm into him even more

  • I had the same reaction after I saw runnin down a dream.. No kiddin I'm only 14 the people my class think he's gay cause he's all over my binder.. No I'm not gay!!!!

But ruim!!!nnin down a dream movie made him seem more like a hero not just 2 me but the whole world of fans to h

  • no doubt, I LOVED the part when the record execs were trying to get Roger Mcguinn to sing some crappy song, and tom basically said the song was crap, or as he put it "I could smoke a joint a write 3 better lines"

  • you got lucky bitch!

  • Legendary.

  • His music is good, but live, he's so fabulous !

  • mike is amazing

  • @nucleardude11 the best guitarist ever no doubt about it!

  • @nucleardude11 No doubt, REALLY underrated. Him and Alex Lifeson from RUSH are guitarists who should get more recognition.

  • To- A Ryberg you poor sad loser.. to bad you were not smart enough.. The powers that be have smiled how sweet it is!!

  • I've never seen anyone rock a bigsby that hard! Also, Mike's nonchalant mood while playing is always a treat to watch.

  • Had this show on a vhs video .. had it played so much in the end it was in black and white .. -what a band!

  • Might remember?

Tommy, we'll remember this song forever!

    :)

  • TOTALLY

    FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!

  • recognizable in the first second...amazing tom

  • Mike Campbell. Ooohh Yeah. What a great solo.

    Amazing.

  • I love Mike Campbell´s solos

  • This is so good. Fuckin`bad ass through and through.

  • Mike at his best.He is an underatred guitar player. He gives Tom Petty his signature sound.I love how he plays solos on the bottom of the neck of the guitar.

  • Mike Campbell is soooooo under rated, it's not even funny. I don't think he gets the recognition that he should for being a lead guitarist for a rock group that's managed to exist for 30 plus years.

  • Right on.

  • i love how he solos on the bottom of the neck of the guitar.I also love the bigsby vibrato on the song.i dont know how much you know about guitar playing but as a fellow guitar player,i know the lingo.

  • Rickenbackers used to have Bigsby vibrato units on them at one point. John Lennon had the one one his Maple-glo 325 (early Beatles days) taken off and replaced with a different type.

  • Campbell is to Petty as The Edge is to U2... both lead guitarists have their own distinct way of playing and their own distinct sound which characterizes thier respective groups.

  • Gotta love Mike Campbells bigsby solo.Toms Rick is awsome as well.

  • You better watch what you say>You better watch what you do to me. Awesome song but remember good love is hard to find, You got lucky

  • ...when I found you.

    Love this song such attitude!

  • One of my favorite songs by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers

  • Fender Telecaster Bigsby:)

  • did you see that tom petty gives at 3:58 :)

  • lol.

  • at :56 i believe he gives us the byrd

  • I love Rickenbackers guitars.What a fuckin

    great song.Great live version.:)

  • As do I my brother. So many great pieces of music have been played on them.if I could afford it,I would buy a few.

  • he makes u wanna buy a ricken backer, that guy made me wanna play guitar

  • SRVvelvetslash.. shut up. Tom Petty is the man, the shit, the most amazing music artist to ever walk this earth. So don't bash on his guitars because the guitar he is playing right there is what made his songs. And you're awful for saying such a thing.

  • I don't really like the women singing the chorus, just makes the song overdone.

    I prefer the original.

But still, they performed this very well!

  • How could anybody ever do better then you???

    Beautiful person and music

  • I got lucky, babe... When you found me.

  • I hate how they cut this off the "Pack Up the Plantation" reissue CD. Sadly, I only have the original on cassette.

  • Here's one you MIGHT remember? Is he kidding or WHAT!!??? :O)

  • This is the best version.

    I Love it.Beatiful end.

  • superb Thanks
