Roy: If you're going to shoot me, shoot me. But then, after you've done that, Lieutenant, what will you do?
Riza:...I can tell you I have no intention of carrying on by myself. This fight will be my last. Once all of this is over I'm going to end my life, and remove my secrets my secrets of flame alchemy from the world!
Roy: *grits teeth, yells and lets out fire*...that can't happen. I can't...I can't afford to lose you...
I admit I cried here. Mustang remembering Hughes was too much. And especially that after he tried so hard he couldn't bring himself to forget about his hate, not until he heard of Riza's resolution at least.
I love it how even though Envy was so evil and diabolical, and pretty much everyone who watches the show wants him to die, they turned his death into something emotional. Like, kind of a tear-jerker, even though we all hated him.
The homunculus are meant to be the darkest aspects of humanity, the darkness that is in all of us and I defiantly hated each and every one of them and yet... why does it feel so empty now that they are gone?
oh jesus...i thought envy was pretty cool in fma: bh. he had that sarcastic personality and then there were times where he was so psychotic, you wanted him to die. but i definitely really love with the way that he and greed died and the reasons. greed died pretty damn heroically. you know, the whole friends thing. i watched that scene over and over again and still wet my entire keyboard. which is not very good. and envy...oh he killed me. two very real characters searching for very real things.
@Voblast Father, the main villain of the series, freed himself of all of these sins. Despite that, he still managed to be the most foul creature of them all. No one is perfect.
The homunculus are all based off the disgusting and most foul qualities of mankind yet their deaths are so beautiful and serene and you can't help but fell bad for every last one of them.
I remember this playing when an injured Heinkel is explaining to a broken Al the souls trapped inside the philosophers stone want to fight as well to protect their loved ones, that to me was perhaps one of the most epic and tearful moments in the anime, god I love this show so much.
We can all agree that n the end, somehow we all got ripped in pieces by the sadness....to me the worst ones were envy and dwarf...they got demolished in emotions :(
Has anyone else noticed that there is a different version of this song that plays in episode 30? When Scar learns about how Zolf J. Kimbly got the stone Marco created..? It's only the vocals though...Kinda wish that one was available.
why is it that i hate all the homunculi because they evil (not greed he's too awesome and badass) but as soon as they're dying i start getting upset! except lust, she was a bitch.
Oh I hated Envy. I despised him like there was no tomorrow...but when he died, that was when I realized that here was one of those few characters that I learned to love in just one moment when in all other instances I wanted him to die.
Don't you guys think that whole Envy, not only as a character, was made to symbolise Ed's and Alphonse's jealousy of healthy bodies and normal life. And our's envy - of Elric's great goal.
I looooved "Into the Inferno." The scene where this song plays at the end is so heartbreaking. I really wanted to see Envy die, but when he did...I felt so sorry for him. When he said "Me, Envy, understood by this kid...that's the greatest humiliation." That was one of the best lines in the whole series.
ugh, i know! i wanted him to die because he murdered hughes..but when he's in his sad little lizard body thing, and went on about edward understanding him..
The title of this song almost confuses me. I feel like this song means more than a soldier's honor. Its so sad yet it seems like a virtue or sad lesson is being told
It think that Envy' s death was with one the most emotional songs from all songs on the three soundtracks (track: Consonance) and also the death of Greed was with an emotional song (track: Sorrowful Stone).
has anyone else ever noticed that this song sounds similar (and probably is) the song used when Marcoh was telling Scar about Ishbal and the Philosopher Stones he made?
I would argue Sloth was the least sympathetic one. Pride and Wrath had some buried feelings for Ms. Bradley, Greed wanted friends, Lust and Gluttony had a friendship, regardless how much a bitch Lust was in this version and Envy, the most malicious one, actually had some claims and reason to why (s)he did things. Sloth had no character development and I had no concern when he died, where with the others I felt something.
@Niyaru Interestingly enough, Sloth was one of my favorites...he was basically a grim, darker version of Glutony...less 'childish', but still a form of comic relief from time to time...regardless, aye he was the least sympathetic...
In the order I perceive, obviously Father was the worst, Sloth and Envy tied for second [Envy, even at the end, only had pity for himself], Lust, Pride, Wrath, Gluttony, and finally Greed.
Basically, I think that Pride is the worst, at least as anthipathetic as Father, if not the worst, because he deceived everyone with his childish look, and using everyone. The Father at least some reasons why he does things (wants to know the world, free from all uncertainty and fear). Wrath is using everyone, deceiving his wife, saying that he loves her, Lust was kinda evil, but at least sexy.
@oceansoul0403 I do not feel anything towards Sloth, he was kinda dumb, but good for comic relief, on the other hand, Gluttony was not really that much evil as the others, after all, he led Alphonse to Father, without eating him, and having a relationship with Lust. I don' t think it' s necessary to say why we love Greed, for my part, especially, Lin-Greed, he' s cool, helpful to Briggs and others, having a good taste in women. And it is unnecessary to say why we hate Envy.
@oceansoul0403 And Pride has no symphaty towards anyone, he actually sacrificed Kimblee to survive and consumed his soul into himself, furthermore, he also consumed Gluttony just to survive (his own comrades!!!!!!!, that little pimp).
Ok, cut it short, order (from least symphathetic towards most) :
@oceansoul0403 my list from least sympathetic to most is: 1.Lust 2.Gluttony 3.Pride 4.Wrath 5.Sloth 6.Envy 7.Father 8.Greed/Ling Your Guys dont give Sloth symphaty. I think Sloth always want 2 sleep is cause He rather be in his dreams then awake.Maybe his dream is 2 be normal and not be a monster.
Not so, he is laziness incarnate. Moving around, even thinking, he found bothersome. His ideal existence would be something where he had to put forth no effort, didn't have to think, didn't have to move, didn't have to listen to people, didn't have to talk, etc etc.
The only thing which would satisfy this void that he was feeling, was ultimately death. Is death not eternal rest? That's probably the only thing that would "complete" sloth.
@oceansoul0403 Wrath did love his wife, or at least have feelings towards her. SPOILER: Lan Fan tells him that he has lived a sad life and asks if Wrath truly loved anyone, or if his life was indeed a sad one; she means to injure him further before he can die. Wrath however tells Lan Fan not to utter such words when she knows so little. He tells her that his wife was chosen by him, and as such, he truly cared for her.
He did tell Lan Fan that they had only the relationship of a king and his lover, no final words are needed. At least, according to Eclipse translation.
@oceansoul0403 I understand what your saying, but I understood that line differently.
Lan Fan asked him if he had any last words for her knowing that she'd learn about him being a homunculus and he says no, adding that she doesn't need to know about him because "that is how it is between a king and his partner".
@oceansoul0403 I would disagree there. Lust was far worse than Wrath. Even Pride had one grain of sympathy in him...Lust on the other hand did not.
Envy however...aye...there's no character you wanted to see die more than Envy...yet somehow they manage to make his final moment almost rip the tears out of you.
In this series, Lust was really a bitch, but in the original 2003 series, she wanted to become human, even rebelling against her fellow homunculus.
BTW, in Brotherhood, all homunculus were quite antipathetic, with the expection of Greed and its new form, Lin-Greed. And hmmm, Pride looks down on humans, no sympathy in him....face of an angel, heart of a devil
And one of the most antipathetic guy in any anime was that Father guy.
@TheMasterElite I know! The minute that happened (after sobbing my eyes out of course) I just shouted: "Goddammit Envy! Way for you to make me feel bad." I couldn't wait til he was finally killed, and when he died I thought ...Ok, maybe you shouldn't die just yet...haha.
@TheMasterElite yeah it was just the first anime they made her somewhat one of the good guys. Its wierd when mustang kills her she says those eyes are so handsome can't wait til the day they perish or something like that
@witchandelyonpower2 Lol and remember when Greed was killed the first time he told father he would give him a stomach ache and, well I don't want to spoil it for any one what happens in the end
@TheMasterElite watching mustang completely torch lust to ashes was one the most fullfilling things ever. she may not have been the one to kill huges, but jesus christ, that scene with him killing here was amazing.
