  • NAPOLI NAPOLI COLERAAA.....SEI LA VERGOGNA DELL'ITALIA INTERA. ECCO PERCHè PURE IN AMERICA VI ASSOCIANO AL CULO E ALLA MERDA!!! E PENSARE CHE ORMAI IN USA CI STEREOTIPANO COME VOI NAPOLETANI.....MADOOOO CHE DISONORE PAZZESCO.HO DOVUTO SPIEGARE CHE ESISTE ANCHE UN NORD

  • I don't care what it means, it's freaking funny anyway !

  • Napoli è amata, ma anche odiata, molti non sopportano i napoletani, che sono considerati come imbroglioni o poco onesti. Certamente c'è sempre un po' di razzismo, antinapoletano, in questa espressione che denuncia odio verso la città di Napoli.

  • vafanapoli.. "go to hell" .. they really are great in what ever language they speak..

  • forza joey

  • this show rocks watever the language!!

  • i google translated it and it said it should do in naples?

  • When I swear at someone I usually use this xD

  • I guess its sorta....what me and my mates sometimes say...." What the fish " instead of " What the fuck " just to make it a bit more socially respectable....

  • @itsjustanickname still funny.

  • lol itamorons ofc it doesn't make any goddamn sense, every italian sentence he says doesn't make sense....

  • GreenwichMd >< itsjustanickname

Okay, who is telling the truth???

  • damn look at jennifer's legs...so damn nice

  • any idea y rachel saed tt n to who?

  • Comment removed

  • @blalako Rachel said it ross because he was making fun of her about something that i don't really remember but may be u can look it up..it's from season 4 episode 8 ( the one with chandler in a box)

  • From my part of the country we used to say Vaffannapoli...

Non è vero che nn esiste, dalle mie parti si dice, nn so altrove...

  • ahahaha many theories about that, but trust me and "itsjustanickname"... never been used in italy.... it sounds like vaffanculo (fuck off), (finding kinds of literal translations is just useless... napoli=naples=hell ahahaha why???) and anyway joey doesn't say it better.... probably it sounds better for americans who've grown up with mario bros

  • At least Joey says it with a real accent

  • He's supposed to be saying "vai a Napoli" which means "go to Hell." Naples was considered Hell on Earth and was the entrance to the underworld in 470 BC. I guess the joke is that Joey doesn't really know Italian because he's saying "vai FA Napoli" which means "It does Naples." Kind of funny in a way, but hey, I'm not Italian.

  • @AndRuff8

And you're wrong, Vaffanapoli is a subtle way to say Vaffanculo. It's like when they say What the heck instead of what the hell or Shut instead of Shit.

  • @JwanCortez

Alright, well you would know. I just looked it up on Google.

  • It means Go to Hell!

  • 3 people are "va fa a napoli" LOL!

  • I think Joey said it better, but both of them totally pwn whoever they were talking to! (:

  • Racheal wins

  • Rachel looks so hot.

  • @InfuZedShaDoWz ALWAYS looks so hot

  • this show is from the 90s you all know that right lol?

  • @Unknown112112 yes? XD

  • lol

  • vaffa + basically any word you can possibly imagine becomes an insult.

it's just how italians roll <3

  • i'm from egypt , i don't know any italian word !

    but is " va' fa " mean " it's him " !?

  • too difficult to explain..."ma vaffa" is one of those thing you learn once u stay here a bit. Ma = but ; vaffa cannot be translated (vaffa in italian is the apocope of " va a fare" ) ...vaffanapoli is like saying vaffanculo, but u say it when u don't wan to sound too rude ...anyway a bit old fashioned..

  • I think they just wanted a non-vulgar Italian phrase that sounds funny. Nothing really hard and complex there.. No need for these comments about what it means or doesn't mean. People, thinks SIMPLE.

  • I think Joey was about to say vafanculo but thats just him,,, he cannot say anything right..and thats the point...the same with his french :D

  • It hilarious when jennifer says it

  • bashipedia is right, "go to naples/hell."

  • Va fa a napoli means "go to naples".. it stems from the fact that naples wasnt seen as a good place to go.. so its the equivelant of saying "go to hell"

  • @greenwolf89 Italy is very regionalized-- both in it's food and it's language. The food and language of the southern part of Italy is going to be very different from the north.

You see the same in America, but to a lesser degree only because Italy is older.

  • @ocelotxp

yes, I come from Avellino (50 km from Naples) but I've never heard "Vaffanapoli"...and I don't think that in North Italy this world is used...I think simply that's a pleasant way to say Vaffanculo..

  • i love the way rachel says it lol

  • I thought it was Vaffanculo

  • Seleccione di Calcio di Italia, va'fa a Napoli!

  • hahahhahahhaa i love friends

  • I'm Italian and Va Fa Napoli I've heard many times, and it does mean go to hell. It's a southern Italian thing.

  • When Joey says it its so sexy ;)

  • Doesn't it mean :go to napoli? or go to hell?

  • qual que é essa temporada?

  • Quarta! Episódio 08

  • I'm italian, from Naples and "Vaffanapoli" it's just something people say instead of "Vaffanculo", witch means "Fuck you"... it's not very common, BTW

  • @GreenwichMd doesnt it mean fuck off?

  • @GreenwichMd Sto per iniziare a dire "vaffanculo" :D

  • @GreenwichMd It's common instead...because people of Napoli are shit in all the world (everybody knows it....In friends they hate a partenopean guy) and shit came from the ass...so Napoli=shit=ass. I'm Italian from North...Fuck you terroni di merda ladri imbroglioni pappaimmondizia.

  • @GreenwichMd TERRONE DI MERDA

  • Ok guys the explaination "vaffanculo" < (dunno spelling, but i study italian) is f*** then the director and people thought its too rude, so they combined it "va fa napoli" < Go to Naples. In other words he's saying go to hell combined with f*** you! Joey is part italian but he's not very good at speaking it, so Dah Dah, you get Va Fa Napoli! Hope that helped :)

  • I love friends <3

  • the thing is joey is part Italian but he doesn't speak Italian at all so "va fa napoli" is his thought on "vaffanculo"... i don't know if i spelled it right, i'm not Italian....

  • Va fa Napoli is literally translated as 'Go to Naples', but basically means, 'Go to hell'

  • I don't think that Massimo Troisi (or even Benigni) had ever needed to put synthetic laughs in his Films or sketches to make people laugh... That's all.

  • Va fa a Napoli!!!!!

  • NOT how you dooooin'

    How YOUUU doin'

  • lol the subtitles were written in portuguese

  • va fa a napoli means "go to napoli",napoli is a city on italy really dirty,so,when a italian guy is mad with another person he says:va fa a napoli,it's like "go to hell" but kinda different

  • ok,I'm italian and I've never heard anyone say "va fa a napoli"... and that sentence doesn't even make sense! The writers just made it up(and probably none of them speaks italian)!

  • Well.. Im not fluent in Italien, but I think it's just some slang they made up from some swear phrases. I mean.. I can probably think of a few, but I don't think I'm allowed to say it here on YouTube.

  • @itsjustanickname it's probably something Joey's parents made up so they wouldn't say vaffanculo in front of 8 kids... like americans say "frickin" instead of "fucking" or "shoot" instead of "shit"

  • @itsjustanickname

no... it was the point that it isnt true italian, because joey doesnt speak italian anymore.... you know... he cannot speak it but he wants to act serious, so he makes something up that sounds italian=)

  • @itsjustanickname

I'm Italian, and I guess it depends on where you're from. My family doesn't say "va fa napoli", but instead we say "fanapoli",a nd then also "fanculo". So it does exist - but I just think it depends on whether or not they say it in certain parts of Italy. :)

  • @itsjustanickname it's only a show don't diss!

  • @itsjustanickname If you're Italian, then you should know there is no one Italian language.

  • @itsjustanickname Va fa a Napoli literally translated means "Go to Naples". Naples meaning Hell so it means "Go to hell" so it's just slang that's all.

  • @Keltouum Maybe you should read the posting date of the comment. Ignorant much?

  • @itsjustanickname actually I'm italian and we say it all the time. Where in Italy are you from? It might be a regional thing.

  • Naples is one of the most beautiful cities in the world ... dirty will the fool of your Mom ...

  • vaffannapoli!

  • What's that mean?

  • "go to hell" :)

  • nothing

  • Va fa a napoli. thats absolutely hilarious. :)

  • va fa napoli doesn't mean anything...it's just an expression made up by the writers of the show! They just picked 2 italian words (used in italian to say "go to") and added napoli instead of a dirty word!

Trust me guys, I'm italian and I'm from naples!

  • Delicate:

How old are you? I ask because the older generation of Sicilians used to say that instead of va fanculo. In my father's Sicilian dialect, that basically means "go shit in naples"... basically "go take a walk"

    Salutoni da New York!

  • va fa a napoli! X3

  • uf marone a mi.. Go to naples.. lol

  • I would no ime part italian and have studied the language for 7 years (va ba napoli )= go to naples- naples = hell

  • it means get lost lmao

  • No it means go to hell

  • it doesn't mean that...naples is not hell...

  • VA FA A NAPOLI!

    =) DEMAIS, GREAT!

  • VA FA A NAPOLI!!
