  • This video is 3 types of videos all in one:

    1.) A shot of the ALP-45DP

    2.) An equipment move

3.) A video of watching an equipment move get put together

All together, they make up the simple formula:

    1(ALP-45DP)+1(GP40PH-2B)+2(ALP-46A)=ALP-45DP+GP40PH-2B+2ALP-46A=RAILFAN HEAVEN!!!!!

  • If this doesn't count as an Equipment Move, then I don't know what does!

  • Old vs. New!!!

  • Great Video!!

  • Man, it's like NJT purposely set this up so we railfans could compare the new ALP with the old ALP :D

  • @statoose LOL That's really funny.... You DO realize this was set up for a walk through by some politicians and the Board of directors right?

  • @MasterAlchemist1 You think that if I realized that, I would have said what I did? No reason to be a jackass about it.

  • @MasterAlchemist1 Thank you for the apology. And merry Christmas!

  • Nice Video.

  • Wonder when they will enter service? After testing in Colorado, some might be caught zipping around NJT's system (often with one cab car) for non-revenue testing. Only after extensive testing, a few will enter revenue service to be proven throughout NJT's rail network.

  • NICE

  • Are there any American companies that build trains anymore?

  • @adelgado75 Although the states now buying lots of Canadian trains, Canada is still buying tons of American trains from manufacturers such as General Electric and Electro-Motive Diesel (formerly GM).

  • I know what I want for Christmas.

  • @adelgado75 you can't just GET a locomotive from bombardier. You need a track, you need fuel, and oh yes, you need money and training.

  • @GordonFreemanD40 Well duh, I know that.

  • Before NJT takes 26 or whatever units, they must prove the class as a whole in revenue service first, maybe with 6 units. They'd run them in diesel, in electric, and with a variety of consists. The DP's cost nearly $12 million apiece, and while they will work well on runs where they use both modes (like NYC - Bay Head), they might not be a valid replacement for older EMD's.

  • that 645 near the end makes the same sound as Portal 2's elevator at the end.

  • oh wait... never mind it was pushed by a 7000HP loco. My bad...

  • was it operating on Electric or Diesel?

  • Awesome video! What date is the ALP-45DP coming into service?

  • @MrBearsito - I wish I knew :(

  • @Caitsith810 I have reason to believe that the first ALP-45DP locomotives will be put into regular service over the summer to early fall this year.

  • @Roboman2121 - I think it would be early fall, there would be a lot of extensive testing going on during the summer to see how they will run.

  • @Caitsith810 That's pretty believable (just take the MTA's new M8 traincars, for example, which went through about three months worth of testing before the first M8 train entered service), but I can't wait to see the first ALP-45DP train!

  • @MrBearsito they go into service in late 2011 pending fra approval.

  • @DjFreemode Thanks for the info guys!

  • @MrBearsito Within a year supposedly, or maybe a little over a year.

  • @MrBearsito 4500 is ubder testin this summer and should be un service by fall with 4501 (4501 in at the testing facility in Colorado)

  • @MrBearsito 12/12/2012

  • @bls2134 Thanks Thomas!

  • Nice locos. Thumbs up! :)

  • So now that NJ Transit has these dual mode locomotives, will Metro-North West of Hudson riders ever get a one seat ride New York Penn Station

  • So now that NJ Transit has these dual mode locomotives, will Metro-North West of Hudson riders ever get a one seat ride New York Penn Statio?

  • great catch. It's small inside and cramp. It's a shame they didn't have the pantographs up. As for ALP-46A No. 4664 is running on NJT Line already. It was on display for NTD.

  • I think it would be cool to see them but after a while people will get bored of them like the PL42AC. These can be used on the M&E, NJCL, ACL, and the RVL. If they do put them on these lines, then the ML, BCL, and PVL will get all the diesels until they canadd the track to the NEC

  • Ok, but I still say keep the geeps!

  • My god that thing looks wierd. GP40PH's are so much better. But hey, just my opinion.

  • They should put these on ACES so they dont have to have two engines

  • @elevatorman17 yes but you know they are back today!

  • @elevatorman17 ACES to be history after this summer the reason due to low ridership, and because everyone takes the bus or drives to Atlantic City.

  • @FrankG5874 and it sucks so then after that no train from NYC to Atlantic city.

  • Nice. Hope it runs as good as it looks!!

  • That loco is based off the TRAXX design just like the ALP46 is based off of the Class 120 from Bombardier that runs on the German DB rail network.

  • Awesome man!

  • That's awesome!

  • Those will be the lifesavers of NJT.

  • great video, ive never seen one up close..cheers

  • Awesome video!!! Cool the Locomotive is Build in Germany,Europe!!! Build in Kassel by Bombardier!!! Good factory Bombardier, the Fact,is also building the Traxx series locomotives for different Europe railroad companys and the Dutch SLT Sprinter light trains!!!

  • HANDS DOWN I APROOVE

  • HANDS DOWN I A

  • wait... when did she arrive? i only knew about 4501
