and many people consider the bright eyes "folk punk" (much the same as against me, the weakerthans, and the thermals)

Desaparecidos is not a punk band at all. plus there is no such thing as folk punk. no matter what anyone says folk can never be punk. its a contradiction of genre

@Lyingassholes well i gues it all comes down to how you define punk, is it an atttitude? a lifestyle? or simply a musical sound?

if folk punk doesn't exist what would you call bands like the weakerthans, the thermals, against me, and the bright eyes???

well personally I dont like any of those bands so i dont care what they want to call their sound but punk is a genre of its own and to add folk to it and try to be a genre makes no sense. Who cares what you define punk as listen to the firsts like The germs and wasted youth, oppressed logic, reagan youth. see those are punk bands. to compar ethem to Desaparecidos and " folk punk" is truly an insult
