"A test of the primary perception hyphotesis proposed by Backster in 1968 was made by recording electrical activity from the leaves of Philodendra scadentia while randomly. Inspection of the data and analysis by two statistical methods REVEALED NO RELATIONSHIP between brine shrimp killing and electrical ¨responsiveness¨ of philodendron"

Preception is based mostly on taught perceptions. The original perceptions..when man became aware...is the eden ,as it were, of perception. We as a people are trying to understand the original perception. Trying to fight through the knowledge of today to find true perception is a great task that is only for those that persue such ideas. Are you one?
Cleve demonstrated the effect in 1969 at Yale University Linguistics School. He went on some shows such as Johnny Carson and Merv Griffin. When David Frost asked if the plant was male or female, Backster told him to go lift up a leaf and find out. Before he even approached the plant, it reacted.
Russian scientist V.N Pushkin replicated the experiment in 1972. Although it sparked intriguing results, he still faced heavy criticism. Dr. Otto Solbrig of Harvard said it was a waste of time...
@blackhand1818 Solbrig said ''we already know enough about plants, so when Backster comes along, we say it's quackery. You might say we aare prejudiced. Maybe we are''. Yale professor Arthur Galtson didn't say it's impossible, but he felt there were more important things to work on. Stanford Research Institute's Dr. Hal Puthoff believes Backster's work is conducted well, not sloppy, as many have accused him of being.
But I say get a polygraph or EEG and experiment for yourself.
@unshutoptic1 I am not biased either way. But it would appear that if his experiments are not done sloppily it should be replicated. But it has not been replicated it would appear no no one cares or is scientifically unsound to start with.
I am so glad to see this. I've always believed Cleve Backster was way underappreciated and under-rated for his incredible discovery of consciousness in plants! That's an incredibly important discovery with many ramifications. Thank you
consciousness is one thing, yet like a rainbow it is full of different colours that have the possibility to be different life forms (depending if they exist or not) again, where the consciousness enters into physical being is dependant on what exists.
So in essence we are everything, with many colours (species)
Cleve Backster is a truly inspirational man who has and continues to do some important, ground-breaking work into plant life and consciousness. Thank you for posting this video.
Is this how identical twins can feel each other from time to time? For instance when one gets hit by a car, then the other would also have a sense of it? Identical twins do have the same genes and dna by 100%. So this would explain it.

Have these experiments ever been replicated or refuted convincingly by an independent researcher?

this could prove that we are all one and connected, like phyics say we come from a singularity.
