yes after growing up and rewatching the firt 2 starblazers series i cant get used to the new voices , and the subtitles on planets, ships etc. r still in japanese so thats no good to me .. but still i;ll watch it cuz its new to me
well I tried. I've been watching all the Yamato on youtube since it's all up in the original Japanese, except this series. But I just can't take it. This is AWFUL. The worst dubbing of any anime I've seen. Moving on to Final Yamato instead.
@gojiraeight I managed to snag a copy of the three Yamato series, all with their original Japanese soundtracks awhile back. Very nice packaging, everything seemed ok. It was a Japanese import so the menu system was a bit tricky to navigate. I figured I ended up with a bootleg when the subtitles were in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and the English subtitle quality was poor. Still worth seeing though. Too bad there was never any US release!
the voices from the first two series were much better....can't watch this with the new voices, just can't get used to it...too bad....proll wh it didn't finish in the states
Absolutely. I used to own the first two boxsets, Quest for Iscandar and Comet Empire. I sold them for the audio quality. A: those boxsets released by Studio Voyager sound like they were recorded with a cheap tape deck...and they are in mono. B: The English dubs are really bad. I'd much rather watch it with the original Japanese audio. If it's re-released with Japanese audio, I'll buy it. Otherwise, no. Still, cool that someone posted.
Believe it or not, my dad did the exact same thing--showed me this to compare it to the DBZ/Naruto stuff we get these days. I'm into the retro stuff, so of course, that means I loved it!
Yamato III came out in 1980-1981, The US didn't produce the series until 1985 and it had limited distribution at the time, that's why it's called "The Lost Episodes."

Dr. Sane: Nova? What happened to your voice? Hey! Mine is different, too! And so is IQ-9's! The only thing I recognize is the music! Oh dear me!

And Venture's voice is Peter Fernandez, the voice of Speed Racer... Strange to hear his voice on Star Blazers...

Not too much of a fan of the English dub.
The Original Japanese version on DVD is way better & it's uncut in it's full glory.
It's cool!
