I've often thought about shooting a video set to this piece but it's hard to visualize the transition to film. The spoken portion makes me think of Ricks' bar from Casablanca, and how it would have been just after the war ended. No longer purgatory for those fleeing the Nazi. Empty, yet filled with the echos of a bygone era. I can see the champaign glasses, once held by the most influential people in Lisbon, gathering dust on the shelves behind the bar.
